  • A new method is proposed for stereo vision where solution to disparity map is presented in terms of Line constraint and Reliability space -- the first constraint proposes a progressive framework for stereo matching which applies local area pixel-values from corresponding lines in the left and right image pairs. The second states that reliability space based on corresponding points records the disparity and then we are able to apply the median filter in order to reduce the noises which occur in the process. A coarse to fine result is presented after the median filtering, which improves the final result qualitatively. Experiment is evaluated by rectified stereo matching images pairs from Middlebury datasets and has proved that those two adopted strategies yield good matching quantitative results in terms of fast running speed.

  • In this paepr, Fuzzy Constraint Line Clustering (FCLC) method for optical flow estimation is proposed. FCLC represents the spatical and temporal gradients as fuzzy sets. Based on these sets, several constraint lines with different membership values are generated for the poxed whose velocity is to be estimated. We describe the process for obtaining the membership values of the spatial and temporal gradients and that of the corresponding constraint line. We also show the process for deciding the tightest cluster of point formalated by intersection between constraint lines. For the synthetic and real images, the results of FCLC are compared with of CLC.

  • Traditionally electric power system are operated in such a way that the total fuel cost is minimized regardless of accounting for tie-lines transmission constraint and emissions produced. But tie-lines transmission and emissions constraint are very important issues in the operation and planning of electric power system. This paper presents the Two-Phase Neural Network(TPNN) to solve the Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) problem with tie-lines transmission and emissions constraint considering transmission losses. The transmission losses are obtained from the B-coefficient which approximate the system losses as s quadratic function of the real power generation. By applying the proposed algorithm to the test system, the usefulness of this algorithm is verified.

  • The original axisymmetric, stationary electrodynamic model of the central engine in an active galactic nucleus proposed by Macdonald and Thorne consists of a supermassive black hole with magnetic field lines that pass through the region just outside the event horizon of the black hole. Each magnetic field line rotates with a constant angular velocity which will exceed the speed of light at large radii. Even though the field lines are purely mathematical entities this condition sets a stringent physical constraint on the motion of the magnetic field lines and the particles on them. In this paper we will show that we can remove this auxiliary constraint in our model by allowing nonstationary processes. As a result the magnetic field lines can be twisted and wound up in a region lying outside of the quasi-stationary magnetosphere of the black hole. We conclude that astrophysical jets are formed in that region due to the twisted and wound magnetic field lines powered by the Blandford-Znajek process and the other driving forces.

  • Rabinowitz action functional is the Lagrange multiplier functional of the negative area functional to a constraint given by the mean value of a Hamiltonian. In this note we show that on a symplectization there is a one-to-one correspondence between gradient flow lines of Rabinowitz action functional and gradient flow lines of the restriction of the negative area functional to the constraint. In the appendix we explain the motivation behind this result. Namely that the restricted functional satisfies Chas-Sullivan additivity for concatenation of loops which the Rabinowitz action functional does in general not do.

  • Optimal Power dispatch is the short-term decision of the optimal output of a number of power generation facilities, to meet the system demand, with the objective of Power dispatching at the lowest possible cost, subject to transmission lines power loss and operational constraints. The operational constraint includes power balance constraint, generator limit constraint, and emission dispatch constraint and valve point effects. In this paper, Opposition based Differential Evolution Algorithm (ODEA) has been proposed to handle the objective function and the operational constraints simultaneously. Furthermore, the valve point loading effects and transmission lines power loss are also considered for the efficient and effective Power dispatch. The ODEA has unique features such as self tuning of its control parameters, self acceleration and migration for searching. As a result, it requires very minimum executions compared with other searching strategies. The effectiveness of the algorithm has been validated through four standard test cases and compared with previous studies. The proposed method out performs the previous methods.

  • This study concerns the constraints of English Poetic Meter. In English poems, the metrical pattern doesn't always match the linguistic stress on the lines. These mismatches are found differently among the poets. For the lexical stress mismatched with the weak metrical position, W⇒ Strength is established by the concept of the strong syllable. The peaks of monosyllabic words mismatched with the weak metrical position are divided according to which side of the boundary of a phonological domain they are adjacent to. Adjacency Constraint I is suggested for the mismatched peak which is adjacent to the left boundary of a phonological domain; /sup */Peak] and Adjacency ConstraintⅡ for the mismatched peak which is adjacent to the right boundary of a phonological domain. These constraints are various according to the poets (Pope, Milton and Shakespeare) : /sup */[Peak [-stress], /sup */W⇒ Strength and /sup */Peak] in Pope; /sup */[+stress][Peak[-stress] and /sup */Peak] in Milton; /sup */[ +stress][Peak[-stress], /sup */W⇒Strength and Adjacency ConstraintⅡ in Shakespeare.

  • Prepare a lose of 765kV transmission route in power system operation condition, there are some Special Protection Scheme(SPS)s in Korean power system. These SPS can make some preselected generators are tripped to avoid generator overspeed. Because of many of the new large power plants are installed to existing power generation sites due to the siting problem, the number of generator tripped by SPS should be increased. But that can be a cause of system frequency change under the Under Frequency Relay(UFR) 1st pickup level 59.0Hz. Therefore generation constraint should be considered until new transmission lines are installed. In this paper, we propose the ESS application for generation constraint mitigation by frequency damping control of ESS. To analysis an effect of ESS application, we use PSS/E dynamic simulation tool, CBEST model and controller model. The proposed ESS application is applied to the empirical Korean power system.

  • In this paper, based on the performance analysis of serial production lines with quality inspection machines, we develope an buffer size optimization method to maximize the production rate. The total sum of buffer sizes are given and a constant, and under this constraint, using the linear approximation method, we suggest a closed form solution for the optimization problem with an acceptable error. Also, we show that the upstream and downstream buffers of the worst performance machine have a significant effect on the production rate. Finally, the suggested methods are validated by simulations.

  • In this paper, we propose a systematic hull form variation technique which automatically satisfies the displacement constraint and guarantees a high level of fairness. This method is possible through multiple parameter correction curves. The present method is to improve the hull form variation method based on parametric modification function and consists of two sub-categories: SAC variation and section lines modification. For SAC variation, the utilization of two B-Spline curves satisfying GC1 condition led to the satisfaction of displacement constraint and high level of fairness at the same time. Section lines modification methods involves in using two fuctions: the first is the waterplane modification function combining two cubic splines. the other function is the sectional area modification function consisting of 2nd order polynomial over the DLWL(Design Load Waterline) and 3rd order polynomial below the DLWL, This function enables not only the fundamental U-V section shape variation but also systematically modified section lines. The present method is expected to be more useful in the hull form optimization process using CFD compared to the existing method.
