A Study on the Program for Estimation of Electric Rates and the Analysis for Power Consumption in Complex Consumer (복합다용도 수용가의 전력소비특성 분석 및 전기요금 산정프로그램 개발)

  • Together with housings, general buildings and industrial facilities, multi-purpose complexes are equipped with various and special equipment. They are often used by many unspecified people, which causes an increase in annual electricity consumption. Because of this, a great amount of money has been spent for electric charge, far more in excess of the budget, so a reasonable electricity rate needs to be estimated. In this study, we surveyed the power consumption, average power use, and annual electricity bill of multi-purpose complexes in the past five years. To see the general tendency of the survey, we conducted a statistical analysis with such parameters as average, maximum, and minimum values. Through regression analysis, we could see the trend of the survey in linear way. Based on the survey, we have developed an electric-rate calculation program to estimate the next year's budget on electricity.

Modelling of chloride diffusion in saturated concrete

  • The process of chloride ingress in saturated concrete was presented by a previous study that used a mathematical model for the same as that concrete. This model is to be studied chloride ion diffusion which is considered as a chemical phenomenon and is to be represented the chloride diffusion process to be a nonlinear partial differential equation (PDE). In this paper, this nonlinear PDE is solved by the Kirchhoff transformation to render into a linear PDE. This linear PDE associated with initial and boundary conditions is also solved by the Laplace transformation to obtain an analytical solution. To verify the serviceability and reliability of this proposed method, the practical application should be supplied. The input parameters were cited from the previous study. The free chloride concentration profiles obtained by the analytical solution of mathematical model for saturated concretes after 24 and 120 hrs of exposure were compared with the previous study. The predicted results obtained from proposed method have a tendency with experimental results obtained by the previous study and trend toward numerical results approximated by finite difference technique.

Effects of dietary copper on organ indexes, tissular Cu, Zn and Fe deposition and fur quality of growing-furring male mink (Mustela vison)

  • The objectives of this study were to study the effects of different levels of dietary copper on organ indexes, tissular Cu, Zn and Fe deposition and fur quality of mink in the growing-furring periods. One hundred and five standard dark male mink were randomly assigned to seven groups with the following dietary treatments: basal diet with no supplemental Cu (Control); basal diet supplemented with either 6, 12, 24, 48, 96 and 192 mg/kg Cu from copper sulphate, respectively. The colour intensity scores displayed a linear trend (P = 0.057). The spleen Cu concentrations responded in a linear (P < 0.05) fashion with increasing level of Cu, but copper supplementation did not affect speen concentrations of Fe or Zn. Supplemental dose of Cu linearly increased (P < 0.05) liver Cu and Fe concentrations but did not alter (P > 0.10) liver Zn. Our results indicate that Cu plays an important role in the pigmentation in growing-furring mink, and supplemental dietary Cu in growing-furring mink improve hair colour, and copper has limited effects on liver mineral deposition.

Analysis of Stem Wave due to Long Breakwaters at the Entrance Channel

  • Recently, a new port reserves deep water depth for safe navigation and mooring, following the trend of larger ship building. Larger port facilities include long and huge breakwaters, and mainly adopt vertical type considering low construction cost. A vertical breakwater creates stem waves combining inclined incident waves and reflected waves, and this causes maneuvering difficulty to the passing vessels, and erosion of shoreline with additional damages to berthing facilities. Thus, in this study, the researchers have investigated the response of stem waves at the vertical breakwater near the entrance channel and applied numerical models, which are commonly used for the analysis of wave response at the harbor design. The basic equation composing models here adopted both the linear parabolic approximation adding the nonlinear dispersion relationship and nonlinear parabolic approximation adding a linear dispersion relationship. To analyze the applicability of both models, the research compared the numerical results with the existing hydraulic model results. The gap of serial breakwaters and aligned angles caused more complicated stem wave generation and secondary stem wave was found through the breakwater gap. Those analyzed results should be applied to ship handling simulation studies at the approaching channels, along with the mooring test.

The Contact Resistance and Corrosion Properties of Carburized 316L Stainless Steel (침탄된 316L 스테인리스 강의 접촉저항 및 내식 특성)

  • Stainless steels (AISI 316L) are carburized by Inductively coupled plasma using $CH_4$ and Ar gas. The ${\gamma}_c$ phase(S-phase) is formed on the surface of stainless steel after carburizing process. The XRD peak of carburized samples is shifted to lower diffracting angle due to lattice expansion. Overall, the thickness of ${\gamma}_c$ phase showed a linear dependence with respect to increasing temperature due to the faster rate of diffusion of carbon. However, at temperatures above 500, the thickness data deviated from the linear trend. It is expected that the deviation was caused from atomic diffusion as well as other reactions that occurred at high temperatures. The interfacial contact resistance (ICR) and corrosion resistance are measured in a simulated proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) environment. The ICR value of the carburized samples decreased from 130 $m{\Omega}cm^2$ (AISI 316L) to about 20 $m{\Omega}cm^2$. The sample carburized at 200 showed the best corrosion current density (6 ${\mu}Acm^{-2}$).

  • A quantum light source is an essential element for quantum information technology, including quantum communication, quantum sensor, and quantum computer. Quantum light sources including photon number state, entangled state, and squeezed state can be divided into two types according to the generation mechanism, namely single emitter and non-linear based systems. The single emitter platform contains atom/ion trap, solid-state defect/color center, two-dimensional material, and semiconductor quantum dot, which can emit deterministic photons. The non-linear based platform contains spontaneous parametric down-conversion and spontaneous four-wave mixing, which can emit probabilistic photon pairs. For each platform, we give an overview of the recent research trends of the generation, manipulation, and integration of single photon and entangled photon sources. The characteristics of quantum light sources are investigated for each platform. In addition, we briefly introduce quantum sensing, quantum communication, and quantum computing applications based on quantum light sources. We discuss the challenges and prospects of quantum light sources for quantum information technology.

A Study on the Impact of Firm Size on the Threshold Point from Nonlinear Relationship between CSR and Firm Value (기업의 규모별 특성이 사회적 책임과 기업가치 간의 비선형 관계를 유발하는 임계점에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this paper analyzes the relationship between the Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) and Corporate Value to estimate whether the characteristics of Firm can change this relationship. Design/methodology/approach - This paper utilizes the total 776 firms' data over the period 2014-2018, and develops a new ESG index which was estimated by PCA. Findings - First, the estimated ESG index implies that Large company has the highest value of CSR, while Medium sized and Small company have the relatively low one. And comparing to the case of 2014, the trend of ESG index in Large company does not decrease in 2018. Second, there is a clear and significant non linear relationship between CSR and corporate value, it implies that the U-shaped exists in the Korean Firms. Such a tendency is mush stronger in the Large company. Third, the new ESG index indicates that it takes more time to increase Firm value in the Medium sized and Small company while there is a high possibility of increasing value in Large company from the little gab between the threshold points and mean value of ESG. Research implications or Originality - The non linear tendency between the Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Value is strongly affected by Firm size and the relative high quintile of ESG, but it is less affected by Firm history.

Patent Trend Analysis of Unmanned Ground Vehicles(UGV) using Topic Modeling (토픽모델링을 이용한 무인지상차량(UGV) 특허 동향 분석)

  • This study provides a thorough examination of Unmanned Ground Vehicles(UGVs), focusing on crucial technologies and trends across major global markets. It includes an in-depth patent analysis revealing the dominant positions of the United States and the European Union in this field. Additionally, it underscores substantial advancements made by China, Japan, and Korea since 2010. Using Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA)-based patent text mining, the study identified key technology areas in UGV development, such as advanced control systems, navigation technologies, power supply mechanisms, and sensing and communication tools. Through linear regression analysis, the study predicted the future paths of these technology areas, offering important insights into the evolving world of UGV technology. The findings can provide strategic guidance for stakeholders in the defense, commercial, and academic sectors, pointing out the future directions in UGV advancements.

Trend Analysis for River Water Quality Change Before and After the Prohibition of Ocean Dumping of Livestock Manure (가축분뇨 해양투기 금지 전후 하천 수질 변동 경향성 분석)

  • Ocean dumping manure was prohibited in Korea until the end of 2012. Undumped manure was treated by resourcification, purification, and public process in a facility. But poor storage of untreated manure and overproduced compost can pollute river water. In this study, linear regression, Mann-Kendall, Seasonal Mann-Kendall, LOWESS trend, and Spearman's correlation analysis were conducted for investigating the changes in the water quality of Bukhan and Imjin river before and after the prohibition of ocean dumping. In 2017, the Imjin Riv er basin had more than 5.7 times liv estock breeding heads than the Bukhan Riv er basin and more than 3.5 times livestock manure. The areas of land, farmland, and nutrient balance were also higher in the Imjin River basin. Since the two basins have different environments, it is expected that the characteristics of changes in water quality due to the increase in livestock manure generation and treatment methods will be different when comparing the water quality trends before and after the ban. The result of the trend analysis revealed a decrease in EC before the ban but an increase afterward. T-N and BOD of Imjin river increased slightly before the ban but demonstrated great enhancement thereafter. Other sites and T-P exhibited no trend. The correlation analysis result showed that the increase in the number of livestock rearing was correlated with the increase in T-P of Bukhan River and BOD of Imjin River. The increase in livestock manure production was not correlated with the Imjin River basin, while a correlation was observed with the Bukhan River with an increase in T-N and EC and the decrease in T-P.

Detrending Crop Yield Data for Improving MODIS NDVI and Meteorological Data Based Rice Yield Estimation Model (벼 수량 자료의 추세분석을 통한 MODIS NDVI 및 기상자료 기반의 벼 수량 추정 모형 개선)

  • By removing the increasing trend that long-term time series average of rice yield due to technological advancement of rice variety and cultivation management, we tried to improve the rice yield estimation model which developed earlier using MODIS NDVI and meteorological data. A multiple linear regression analysis was carried out by using the NDVI derived from MYD13Q1 and weather data from 2002 to 2019. The model was improved by analyzing the increasing trend of rime-series rice yield and removing it. After detrending, the accuracy of the model was evaluated through the correlation analysis between the estimated rice yield and the yield statistics using the improved model. It was found that the rice yield predicted by the improved model from which the trend was removed showed good agreement with the annual change of yield statistics. Compared with the model before the trend removal, the correlation coefficient and the coefficient of determination were also higher. It was indicated that the trend removal method effectively corrects the rice yield estimation model.
