  • In this paper, a new method for finger vein recognition is proposed. Researchers are recently interested in the finger vein recognition since it is a good way to avoid the forgery in finger prints recognition and the inconveniences in obtaining images of the iris for iris recognition. The vein images are processed to obtain the line shaped vein images through the local histogram equalization and a thinning process. This thinned vein images are processed for matching, using a new matching algorithm, named HS(HeeSung) matching algorithm. This algorithm yields an excellent recognition rate when it is applied to the curve-linear images processed through a thinning or an edge detection. In our experiment with the finger vein images, the recognition rate has reached up to 99.20% using this algorithm applied to 650finger vein images(130person ${\times}$ 5images each). It takes only about 60 milliseconds to match one pair of images.

  • In this paper, the model reduction method of the linear time invariant continuous systems is proposed. The denominator of reduced order model is determined by the eigenvalue selected considering the error of the power series that exists between original system and reduced order system at each time moments. And the numerator of model is founded by the time moment matching method. The method suggested is compared with other various methods in examples.

  • Since Dr. John J. Hopfield has proposed the HOpfield network, it has been widely applied to the pattern recognition and the routing optimization. The method of Jian-Hua Li improved efficiency of Hopfield network which input pattern's weights are regenerated by SVD(singluar value decomposition). This paper deals with Li's Hopfield Network by linear pre-processing. Linear pre-processing is used for increasing orthogonality of input pattern set. Two methods of pre-processing are used, Hadamard method and random method. In manner of success rate, radom method improves maximum 30 percent than the original and hadamard method improves maximum 15 percent. In manner of success time, random method decreases maximum 5 iterations and hadamard method decreases maximum 2.5 iterations.

  • In this paper, a new time-domain adaptive predistortion scheme is proposed to compensate for the nonlinearity of high power amplifiers (HPA) in OFDM systems. A complex Wiener-Hammerstein model (WHM) is adopted to describe the input-output relationship of unknown HPA with linear dynamics, and a power series model with memory (PSMWM) is used to approximate the HPA expressed by WHM. By using the PSMWM, the compensation input to HPA is calculated in a real-time manner so that the linearization from the predistorter input to the HPA output can be attained even if the nonlinear input-output relation of HPA is uncertain and changeable. In numerical example, the effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed and compared with the identification method based on PSMWM.

  • The control objective of steam generator water level in the secondary circuit of a nuclear power plant is to regulate the water level at the desired set point. The dynamics of steam generators is non-linear in nature. The task of modelling such plant is very difficult and especially so when plant operating conditions change frequently. In these reasons, conventional PI gains over all pover range will not work efficiently and a manual control is generally used in low power operation. Therefore the robust H$\infty$ controller design method should be required. In this paper, we design the robust H$\infty$ controller for water level control of steam generator using a mixed H$\infty$ optimization with model-matching method. Firstly we choose the desired model that has good disturbance rejection performance. Secondly we design a stabilizing controller to keep the model-matching error small and also provide sufficiently large stability margin against additive perturbations of the nominal plant.

  • In this paper we have presented a two dimensional model based tracking system using improved chamfer matching. Conventional chamfer matching could not calculate similarity well between the object and image when there is very cluttered background. Then we have improved chamfer matching to calculate similarity well even in very cluttered background with edge and corner feature points. Improved chamfer matching is used as likelihood function of particle filter which tracks the geometric object. Geometric model which uses edge and corner feature points, is a discriminant descriptor in color changes. Particle Filter is more non-linear tracking system than Kalman Filter. Then the presented method uses geometric model, particle filter and improved chamfer matching for tracking object in complex environment. In experimental result, the robustness of our system is proved by comparing other methods.

  • In this paper, we propose a method which infers an accurate disparity map for radiometrically varying stereo images. For this end, firstly, we transform the input color images to the log-chromaticity color space from which a linear relationship can be established during constructing a joint pdf between input stereo images. Based on this linear property, we present a new stereo matching cost by combining weighted mutual information and the SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform) descriptor with segment-based plane-fitting constraints to robustly find correspondences for stereo image pairs which undergo radiometric variations. Experimental results show that our method outperforms previous methods and produces accurate disparity maps even for stereo images with severe radiometric differences.

  • In this paper, we propose an automatic image-to-image registration between high resolution multi-sensor images. To do this, TerraSAR-X image was shifted according to the initial translation differences of the x and y directions between images estimated using Mutual Information method. After that, the Canny edge operator was applied to both images to extract linear features. These features were used to design a cost function that finds matching points based on the similarities of their locations and gradient orientations. For extracting large number of evenly distributed matching points, only one point within each regular grid constructed throughout the image was extracted to the final matching point pair. The model, which combined the piecewise linear function with the global affine transformation, was applied to increase the accuracy of the geometric correction, and the proposed method showed RMSE lower than 5m in all study sites.

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of designing sliding surfaces fur a class of dynamic systems with mismatched uncertainties in the state space model. In terms of LMIs, we give necessary and sufficient conditions fir the existence of a linear sliding surface such that the reduced order sliding mode dynamics is asymptotically stable and completely independent of uncertainties. We parameterize all such linear sliding surfaces by using the solution to the given LMI conditions. And, we consider the problem of designing linear sliding surfaces guaranteeing pole placement constraints or $H_2/H_infty$ performances. Finally, we give a design example in order to show the effectiveness of our method.

  • Fingerprint recognition is concerned with fingerprint acquisition and matching. Our research was focused on a fingerprint matching method using an inkless fingerprint input sensor at the fingerprint acquisition step. Since an inkless fingerprint sensor produces a digital-image-processed fingerprint image, we did not consider noise that can happen while acquiring the fingerprint. And making the user attempt fingerprint input as random, we considered image distortion that translation and rotation are included as complex. NJTC algorithm is used for fingerprint identification and verification. The method to find the center of the fingerprint is added in the NJTC algorithm to supplement discrimination of fingerprint recognition. From this center point, we decided the optimum cropping size for effective matching with pixels and demonstrated that the proposed method has high discrimination and high efficiency.
