  • Starting with the development of environmentally friendly electric controlled engine, sensors have played an increasing role in automotive technology. Electric power steering (EPS) systems are more and more replacing hydraulic systems. To improve fuel economy, the power assistance is provided by an electric drive. In this paper, development of a unique torque sensor for EPS is introduced. A capacitive type torque sensor is concluded to be suitable for EPS because its output is accurate, linear and robust against the variance of temperature, and patents have not applied so much.

  • Andrews (1972) proposed to combine trigonometric functions to represent n observations of p variates, where the coefficients in linear sums are taken from the values of corresponding observation's respective variates. By viewing Andrews' plot as a collection of n trajectories of p-dimensional objects (observations) as a weighting point loaded with dimensional weights moves along a certain path on the hyper-dimensional sphere, we develop graphical techniques for further uses in data visualization. Specifically, we show that the parallel coordinate plot is a special case of Andrews' plot and we demonstrate the versatility of Andrews' plot with a projection pursuit engine.

Study on The Corrosion Inhibition Characteristics of Carbon Steel by Sodium Phosphate And Sodium Nitrite (삼인산 나트륨과 아질산 나트륨에 의한 탄소강 부식방지 특성 연구)

  • Sodium nitrite is widely used as one of the popular corrosion inhibitors for the protection of ferrous metal in closed cooling water system, such as a diesel engine and a chiller. The optimum treatment conditions are studied through laboratory tests using linear polarization resistance (LPR) technique. Corrosion rate of the carbon steel electrode could be maintained less than $2.5{\times}10^{-3}$ mmpy in the test condition of 500 ppm as ${NO_2}^-$, 200 ppm as $Cl^-$, $70^{\circ}C$ and pH 6.8. The pH control is confirmed not to be an important factor in the protection of carbon steel by sodium nitrite inhibitor. The addition of tolyltriazole was needed for the protection of the copper alloy in the sodium nitrite treatment system.

  • 본 논문에서는 free-piston 엔진용 원통형 선형 발전기의 개발에 대하여 기술한다. 발전기의 주요 특성인 역기전력과 디텐트력은 유한요소법을 이용하여 해석되었으며 극 피치조정법을 사용하여 기기의 운전에 악영향을 미치는 디텐트력을 저감하였다. 제안된 설계안은 실제 제작되었고 실험을 통해 검증하였다.

  • 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅의 실현을 위해 센서 네트워크 기반의 다양한 위치인식 연구가 수행되었다. 특히 근거리 위치 인식 분야에서는 RSSI를 이용한 위치 인식에 관한 연구가 활발하였으나 RSSI는 통신 환경에 민감하여 균일한 위치 정보 결과를 획득하기 어려우며, RSSI 값을 기반으로 삼각측량 등의 위치 계산을 소프트웨어적으로 처리하기 때문에 응답 속도가 늦다는 단점이 있다. 따라서 최근 Chipcon에서는 CC243x 시리즈에 위치 계산 엔진(Location Engine)을 탑재하여 응답 속도에 대한 종전의 단점을 보완하였으나 여전히 위치 값이 고르지 못한 부분은 개선되지 않았다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 통신 환경으로 인한 위치 정보의 불균등함을 개선하고자 선형 윈도우 알고리즘을 제안한다. 선형 윈도우는 위치 정보에 대한 스무팅을 수행하며, 이를 통해 응답 속도의 저하를 최소화시키면서 위치 변화를 고르게 한다.

  • 본 연구에서는 Free-piston 엔진용 원통형 선형 발전기의 전동기 운전을 이용한 기동에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. Free-piston 엔진의 피스톤이 흡기, 압축, 폭발, 배기 과정에 따라 정상 상태로 왕복운동을 하기 위해서는 기동 시 정지상태인 피스톤을 외부의 힘으로 움직여 연소실에 있던 공기를 밀어내고, 연료를 연소실안에 흡입한 뒤 다시 압축시켜 플러그를 통해 폭발시켜 주어야 한다. 이 과정에서 별도의 전동기를 사용하는 대신 Free-piston 엔진에서 사용하는 원통형 선형 발전기를 전동기로 사용하여 엔진의 기동을 위해 요구되는 속도와 토크를 만족시키는지 동특성 해석을 하였고, free-piston 엔진을 기동시키기에 충분한 속도와 토크를 낼 수 있다는 결론을 얻었다.

  • H maritime company in Korea had a long history of difficulty in obtaining enough empty containers to transport its commodities. Despite efforts to resolve the problem, the repositioning of empty containers between depots was still planned manually, which consumed much worker time. To automate the generation of reposition plans, we developed a planning system to optimize the company's reposition of empty containers between global depots with a linear programming model functioning as a key decision engine in the system. The model determines the route, volume and mode of transportation for repositioning empty containers from depots with surplus containers to those requiring containers, as well as the empty space of ships generated from the unloading or loading of full and empty containers. The system has been in operation in the company's global network since March 2008.

  • A cascade wind tunnel test for a turbine nozzle, which was designed for a small turbo jet engine in a previous study, has been conducted to evaluate its aerodynamic performance and losses. The large-scale blades were based on the mid-span profile of the nozzle. Oil film flow structure, and then 3-dimensional velocity components were measured in the flow passage with a 5-hold pressure probe, in addition to turbulent intensities at mid-span of cascade exit using a hot-wire anemometer. From this study, 3-dimensional growth of horseshoe and passage vortices in the downstream direction was clearly understood with near-wall flow phenomena. In addition, secondary flow and losses associated with the blade configuration were obtained in detail.

A Study on Real-Time Linear Simulation and LQR Control for Mid Scale Commercial Aircraft Turbofan Engine (중형항공기용 터보팬 엔진의 실시간 선형모사 및 LQR 제어에 관한 연구)

  • 중형항공기용 터보펜 엔진의 성능모사와 LQR 제어기 설계에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 동적 성능모사를 설계점으로 선정한 지상최대이륙조건과 탈설계점으로 선정한 최대상승조건과 순항조건에 대하여 Step 증가, Ramp 증가, Ramp 감소, Step증가 후 Ramp 감소의 4가지 연료공급에 조건에 대하여 수행되었다. 성능모사 결과 모든 비행조건에서 연료를 Step 증가시킬 경우 고압터보빈의 입구온도가 제한온도인 3105$^{\circ}$R을 초과함을 확인하였고, 최대 상승조건에서 연료를 Step 증가시킬 경우가 4.5초 이내에 Ramp 증가시킬 경우 고압압축기에 서지가 발생함을 확인하였다. 따라서 고압터어빈의 오버슈트와 고압압축기의 서지를 동시에 제어할 수 있는 다변수 제어기의 설계가 필요함을 확인하였다.

  • With the rise in CPU power and the generalization and popularity of computers, engineering practice also changed from hand calculations to 3D computer models, from elastic linear analysis to 3D nonlinear static analysis and 3D nonlinear transient dynamic analysis. Thanks to holistic design approach and current trends in freeform and contemporary architecture, BIM concept is no longer a dream but also a reality. BIM is not just providing a media for better co-ordination but also to shorten the round-the-clock time in updating models to match with other professional disciplines. With the parametric modeling tools, structural information is also linked with BIM system and quickly produces analysis and design results from checking to fabrication. This paper presents a new framework which not just linked the BIM system by means of parametric mean but also create and produce connection FE model and fabrication drawings etc. This framework will facilitate structural engineers to produce well co-ordinate, optimized and safe structures.
