  • The brushless DC motor (BLDCM) has many advantages. As a result, it is widely used in electric vehicle (EV) drive systems. To improve the reliability of the motor control system, a position sensorless control strategy based on a sliding mode observer (SMO) is proposed. The global fast terminal sliding mode observer (GFTSMO) is proposed to enhance the control performance of the SMO control system. The advantages of the linear sliding mode and the nonsingular terminal sliding mode (NTSM) are combined in the control strategy. The convergence speed of the system state is enhanced. The motor commutation point is obtained with the observation of the back EMF, and the instantaneous torque value of the motor is calculated. Therefore, the position sensorless control of the BLDCM is realized. Experimental results show that the proposed control strategy can improve the convergence speed, dynamic characteristics and robustness of the system.

In odor to the high-performance operation of dc servo motor, drive circuits is controlled Pulse Width Modulations. In this case, PWM driving circuit has nonliner charactristics. This circuit composed of H-type bridge with freewheeling diodes in odor to deal with storage energy of motor's inductance and also control method is developed. At resultes, speed charactristics of motor is shown lineristics. In oder to speed control of motor. The opertion of phase-locked servo system is described and a linear discrete model is developed to their behavior. Thise model discussed are the design problems, speed variation.

  • In this paper a new dynamic damper driven by DC linear electric motor, is proposed for suppressing wide-band vibration. First, the reason for the incapability of a conventional dynamic damper to suppress wide-band vibration is explained. Then, with its defects taken into consideration, the principle of wide-band vibration control is presented. Finally, experiments ar conducted verifying the control effect of the active dynamic damper for suppressing wide-band vibration.

  • Linear compressors with a free piston driven by a linear motor are widely attention in the cooling apparatus such as refrigerator due to the high efficiency The stroke of piston in the linear compressor driven by LPMSM (Linear Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor) can be obtained from Integrating the input voltage and current of LPMSM, but it may be diverged due to dc components in the voltage and current. The strategy to prevent the divergence of stroke using both the high-pass filter and do offset compensation was suggested. The equations for the magnitude and phase of the stroke and also dc offset including the stroke are derived as a function of the cut-off frequency of HPF. The accurate stroke of a piston can be calculated by compensating for dc offset. The performance of the newly developed stroke calculation scheme has been verified by experimentally on a linear compressor drive system, where the control was implemented by a 16-bit DSP.

  • This papper is concerned with robust design of a linear DC motor which is steading fast in OA and FA systems due to simplicity in structure high-speed operation and high-precision positioning. The approach is based on the Taguchi method and utilizes the orthogonal way for design of experiments. In this study, first, the important factors are chosen at first. and then the concept of signal-to-nose(S/N) ratio is allied to evaluate the motor performance and each value of the design parameters is determined. This method is useful to robust design in a short time. As a result, the performance of the motor is improved.

  • This paper is concerned with optimal design of a linear DC motor which is steading fast in OA and FA systems due to simplicity in structure high-speed operation and high-precision positioning. The approach is based on the statistic method. In this study, firstly, we determine factors that affect significantly the objective function using 2-level factorial design. And then the Response Surface Methodology was app1ied to optimize these factors. Through this application design factors could be optimized within a short term and low experimental cost.

  • This Paper presents a solution to control the Brushless DC Motor(BLDCM) in Hard Disk Drive(HDD) using the Linear Quadratic Regulator(LQR). Generally, The speed of BLDCM in HDD is controlled by the lead angle control or the input voltage control using PAM(Pulse Amplitude Modulation) etc. These control methods have speed overshoot in speed control and need the long time until BLDCM reaches at the steady state. In order to improve the performance, this paper present the PI speed controller using the LQR based on vector control and the rotor position detection methods at the space vector PWM inverter. The proposed methods are proved by the simulation and experimental results.

  • In the paper, we present the design procedure and analysis the fundamental characteristics for Linear DC Motor(LDM) using permeance method and finite element method (FEM). Designed LDM is made of two permanent magnets, three iron core and armature windings. For the design of the LDM, first of all it is necessary to calculate the air gap flux density and thrust force, after that to determine core size, the numbers of winding turns, winding width, etc. To demonstrate the method of caculation yields the right results, we used Maxwell program package for computing magnetic fields. Finally we find that the proposed design procedure in this paper is effective to design of LDM.
