It is important to prevent roll failure in hot rolling process for reducing maintenance cost and production loss. The relationship between rolling pass schedule and the work roll wear profile will be presented. The roll wear pattern is related with roll catastrophic failure. The irregular and deep roll wear pattern should be removed by On-line Roll Grinder(ORG) for roll failure prevention. In this study, a computer roll wear prediction model under real process working condition is developed and evaluated with hot rolling pass schedule. The method of building wear calculation functions for center portion abrasion and marginal abrasion respectively was used to develop a work roll wear prediction mathematical model. The three type rolling schedule are evaluated by wear prediction model. The optimum roll grinding methods is suggested for schedule tree rolling technique.
This paper proposes a method for real-time control of both capacitors and ULTC in a distribution system to reduce the total power loss and to improve the voltage profile over the course of a day. The multi-stage consists of the off-line stage to determine dispatch schedule based on a load forecast and the on-line stage generates the time and control sequences at each sampling time. It is then determined whether one of the control actions in the control sequence is performed at the present sampling time. The proposed method is presented for a typical radial distribution system with a single ULTC and capacitors.
The ${CO}_2$ laser absorption measurement of ${CH}_3{CH}_2Br$ utilizing photoacoustic (PA) technique was performed using a cw and a pulsed ${CO}_2$ lasers. The absorption profile in the ${CO}_2$ laser wavelength region (9-10 ${\mu}$m) and the macroscopic small signal absorption cross section at 10P(20) (10.59 ${\mu}$m, 944 $cm^{-1}$) laser line were measured using a cw ${CO}_2$ laser. The laser fluence dependence on infrared multiphoton absorption (IRMPA) was also studied with a pulsed TEA ${CO}_2$ laser at 10P(20) laser line. In view of monotonic increase of PA signal with the rise of laser fluence, it was suggested that the anharmonicity in pumped vibration mode did not restrict ir multiphoton absorption in ${CH}_3{CH}_2Br$ system as found in large molecular system.
We present the application of the Point Spread Function (PSF) deconvolution method to the astronomical Integral Field Unit (IFU) Spectroscopy data focus on the restoration of the galaxy kinematics. We apply the Lucy-Richardson deconvolution algorithm to the 2D image at each wavelength slice. We make a set of mock IFU data which resemble the IFU observation to the model galaxies with a diverse combination of surface brightness profile, S/N, line-of-sight geometry and Line-Of-Sight Velocity Distribution (LOSVD). Using the mock IFU data, we demonstrate that the algorithm can effectively recover the stellar kinematics of the galaxy. We also show that lambda_R_e, the proxy of the spin parameter can be correctly measured from the deconvolved IFU data. Implementation of the algorithm to the actual SDSS-IV MaNGA IFU survey data exhibits the noticeable difference on the 2D LOSVD, geometry, lambda_R_e. The algorithm can be applied to any other regular-grid IFS data to extract the PSF-deconvolved spatial information.
We developed a new grid-based Monte Carlo code to trace far UV He II line photons that are incident on a thick H I region and subsequently transferred through Rayleigh and Raman scattering with atomic hydrogen. In particular, we consider a neutral region that is moving away from the He II emission source which is either monochromatic or is described by a Gaussian profile. The resultant Raman scattered He II line profiles from a monochromatic source are characterized by a double peaked core part with an extended Raman red tail that is attributed to multiple re-entry events. Complicated behaviors are observed in the case of a Gaussian He II source including the formation of a secondary red peak near the Balmer center dependent on the H I column density. A preliminary application of our results to the CFHT data of the planetary nebula IC 5117 is presented.
An upper-bound elemental technique (UBET) analysis is carried out to improve the material flow and to reduce the load of bearing-race forming process. The UBET analysis, which adapts the advantages of stream function and finite element method, is useful for predicting the profile of complex geometric bound- ary. From the UBET analysis, the forming load, the velocity distribution and the stream line of the deformed billet are determined by minimizing the total power consumption with respect to chosen parameters. The results of present UBET analysis are better than those of previous UBET analysis. Experiments have been carried out with model material plasticine billets at room temperature. The theoretical predictions for forming load and flow pattern(stream line) are in good agreement with the experimental results.
In this study, we demonstrate ultrahigh-resolution spectral-domain optical coherence tomography with a 200-kHz line rate using a superluminescent diode with a -3-dB bandwidth of 100 nm at 849 nm. To increase the line rate, a subset of the total number of camera pixels is used. In addition, a partial-spectrum detection method is used to obtain OCT images within an imaging depth of 2.1 mm while maintaining ultrahigh axial resolution. The partially detected spectrum has a flat-topped intensity profile, and side lobes occur after fast Fourier transformation. Consequently, we propose and apply the super-Gaussian window function as a new window function, to reduce the side lobes and obtain a result that is close to that of the axial-resolution condition with no window function applied. Upon application of the super-Gaussian window function, the result is close to the ultrahigh axial resolution of 4.2 ㎛ in air, corresponding to 3.1 ㎛ in tissue (n = 1.35).
Luminous blue variables (LBVs) are massive evolved stars that show unpredictable photometric and spectral variation. It is generally assumed that they undergo one or more of large eruptions. We have obtained high dispersion NIR spectra of several LBVs with Immersion GRating INfrared Spectrometer (IGRINS). One notable feature in their IGRINS spectra is the existence of broad lines (~ a few hundred km/s) with unusual boxy profile. They are fluorescent lines of Fe II by Lyman α photons in the stellar wind. However, modeling of these lines with radiative transfer code CMFGEN predicts much weaker line strength. We propose that incorporating broadening of Lyman α line by scattering processes in dense wind can enhance the Fe II fluorescent lines. We further discuss how these Fe II fluorescent lines can be used to characterize massive LBV wind.
Objectives: Advanced gastric cancer (AGC) patients have a poor prognosis. The best benefit of chemotherapy is usually achieved by first line setting. Very few studies have compared combination regimens. This study was designed to compare two combination regimens. Methods: Patients with advanced gastric cancer receiving first line chemotherapy were retrospectively collected, and divided into two groups, receiving DCF (docetaxel, cisplatin and fluorouracil) or ECF (epirubicin, cisplatin and fluorouracil) regimens. Data were collected for the retrospective analysis in a single center. Results: Eighty-six patients were eligible for analysis. Median overall survival (OS) was 10.0 months in the ECF group and 11.0 months in the DCF group (p=0.31). Median progression free survival (PFS) for ECF and DCF was equal at 6.0 months. Second line chemotherapy were administered in more than one third of patients. Both regimens had similar toxicity. Conclusions: This is the first study investigating the outcomes of gastric cancer chemotherapy in this region. ECF and DCF regimens have similar efficacy and a similar tolerability profile for first line treatment of advanced gastric cancer. The decision of the first line chemotherapy in advanced gastric cancer could be improved with patient selection according to clinical parameters and molecular markers.

Purpose: To compare the efficacy and toxicity of gemcitabine versus docetaxel in a second-line setting of nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients previously treated with platin-based combination chemotherapy. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively evaluated the medical records of 57 patients treated with single agent gemcitabine or docetaxel in second-line setting of advanced NSCLC who received one prior platinum-based therapy. Results: The mean age was $56.7{\pm}8.39$ years with 55 (96.5%) males and two (3.5%) females. Forty of them received docetaxel and 17 gemcitabine. The mean number of chemotherapy cycles was $6.8{\pm}4.0$ in the gemcitabine group, while it was $4.6{\pm}3.0$ in the docetaxel group. Overall response rates were 8% and 12% (P=0.02) for gemcitabine and docetaxel, respectively. The median survival time was 22 versus 21 months for gemcitabine and docetaxel, respectively. The median times to progression were 8 and 5 months. There was no difference between the two groups in terms of incidence of adverse affects (40% vs 47.1%). All of the hematological side effects were grade 1/2. No major toxicity was encountered necessitating stopping the drug for either group. Conclusions: Treatment with gemcitabine demonstrated clinically equivalent efficacy with a significantly improved safety profile compared with those receiving docetaxel in the second-line setting for advanced NSCLC in this study. Based on these results, treatment with gemcitabine should be considered a standard treatment option for second-line NSCLC.
