Colour Linear Array Image Enhancement Method with Constant Colour

  • Digital images of cultural relics captured using line scan cameras present limitations due to uneven intensity and low contrast. To address this issue, this report proposes a colour linear array image enhancement method that can maintain a constant colour. First, the colour linear array image is converted from the red-green-blue (RGB) colour space into the hue-saturation-intensity colour space, and the three components of hue, saturation, and intensity are separated. Subsequently, the hue and saturation components are held constant while the intensity component is processed using the established intensity compensation model to eliminate the uneven intensity of the image. On this basis, the contrast of the intensity component is enhanced using an improved local contrast enhancement method. Finally, the processed image is converted into the RGB colour space. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method can significantly improve the visual effect of colour linear array images. Moreover, the objective quality evaluation parameters are improved compared to those determined using existing methods.

  • The deformation of polymers under high loading-rate conditions will be a governing factor to be considered in their impact-resistant applications such as protective shields and transparent armor. In this paper, the deformation and fracture behaviors of polymeric materials such as PE, PC and PEEK have been investigated by Taylor Impact tests. Taylor cylinder impact tests and high speed photography are introduced to examine the deformation behavior under dynamic loading condition. 20 mm air gun was used to perform the impact experiments. Cylindrical projectiles have been impacted onto a hardened steel anvil at a velocity ranging from 100 to $350\;ms^{-1}.$ Along the barrel line, a photo-sensor which measures the speed of the projectile, four digital cameras which has shutter speed of 1/917,000sec and a rigid anvil were set up. After impact experiments, the shapes of projectiles and images taken using high speed cameras were analysed. Depending on materials adopted, they showed a variety in deformation and fracture behaviors.

Design and Implementation of a Real-time Region Pointing System using Arm-Pointing Gesture Interface in a 3D Environment

  • In this paper, we propose a method to estimate pointing region in real-world from images of cameras. In general, arm-pointing gesture encodes a direction which extends from user's fingertip to target point. In the proposed work, we assume that the pointing ray can be approximated to a straight line which passes through user's face and fingertip. Therefore, the proposed method extracts two end points for the estimation of pointing direction; one from the user's face and another from the user's fingertip region. Then, the pointing direction and its target region are estimated based on the 2D-3D projective mapping between camera images and real-world scene. In order to demonstrate an application of the proposed method, we constructed an ICGS (interactive cinema guiding system) which employs two CCD cameras and a monitor. The accuracy and robustness of the proposed method are also verified on the experimental results of several real video sequences.

Microphone Array와 열화상 카메라를 이용한 고압설비 고장검출 (Malfunction Detection of High Voltage Equipment Using Microphone Array and Infrared Thermal Imaging Camera)

  • The paper proposes a hierarchical fault detection method for the high voltage equipment using a microphone array which detects the location of fault and the thermal imaging and CCD cameras which verifies the fault and stores the image, respectively. There are partial arc discharges on the faulty insulators, which generates a specific pattern of sound. Detecting the signal using the microphone array, the location of the faulty insulator can be estimated. The 6th band-pass filter was applied to remove noise signal from wind or external influence. When the mobile robot carries the thermal and CCD cameras to the possible place of the fault insulator, the fault insulators or power transmission wires can be detected by the thermal images, which are caused by the aging or natural erosion. Finally, the CCD camera captures the image of the fault insulator for the record. The detection scheme of fault location using the microphone array and the thermal images have been proved to be effective through the real experiments. As a result of this research, it becomes possible to use a mobile robot with the integrated sensors to detect the fault insulators instead of a human being.

  • 최근 멀티미디어 서비스는 동영상 압축 기술 및 네트워크의 발달을 기반으로 하여 다양한 응용 서비스를 제공하고 있으며, 이 중 화상 회의 시스템은 이 두 가지 기술이 효과적으로 사용된 대표적인 예이다. 원격 사용자간의 원활한 의사전달을 위해 고려된 화상회의 시스템은 효과적인 응용 서비스로 분류되고 있지만, 이러한 서비스 제공을 위한 기술을 이용하여 빈도가 훨씬 많은 일반적인 회의를 지원하는 응용서비스는 드문 편이다. 본 논문에서는 얼굴 정보와 화자 정보를 기반으로 오프라인 회의를 보조하는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 3개의 마이크와 웹캠을 이용하여 화자의 위치를 파악하고 웹캠에서 얻어진 정보를 이용하여 얼굴 영역 정보를 분석하고 인식한 후 화자 정보를 추출하여 발언자들을 추적하여 기록하는 기능을 제공한다.

단일 투사 절대 코드 패턴을 이용한 3차원 얼굴 데이터의 유클리디안 복원 (A Euclidean Reconstruction of 3D Face Data Using a One-Shot Absolutely Coded Pattern)

  • 본 논문에서는 3차원 얼굴 인식기에서의 입력 데이터로 적합한 얼굴 데이터의 유클리디안 복원 시스템을 제안한다. 카메라 영상을 통한 유클리디안 복원을 위해서는 카메라의 보정정보와 복원할 특징 점의 대응 쌍 정보가 필요한데, 보정정보는 시스템의 변경이 없다면 불변한다. 따라서 고속의 유클리디안 복원을 위해서는 스테레오 영상간의 대응 쌍 정보 획득이 가장 중요하다. 시스템은 두 개의 카메라와 프로젝터 한 대로 구성하며, 피사체에 패턴을 투사하고 두 개의 카메라로부터 영상을 획득함으로써 동작한다. 사용 패턴은 단일 투사 줄무늬 패턴을 사용하며 줄무늬의 색도 정보와 채도 정보를 이용하여 '절대 코드 패턴'을 생성한다. 사용 시스템은 두 개의 카메라를 사용하기 때문에 색도 정보와 채도 정보가 비슷한 두 개의 영상을 얻을 수 있으며 이것은 획득한 두 개의 영상에 있는 줄무늬들에 대해 동일한 절대 라벨을 얻을 수 있게 한다. 절대 라벨링 된 줄무늬는 에피폴라 라인(epipolar line)상의 점들과 일대일 정합을 통해 고속의 3차원 데이터 복원을 가능하게 한다. 제안 방식은 얼굴 데이터에 적용되었으며 정확도와 총 소요 시간의 측정을 통해 제안 방식이 기존 방식에 비해 정확도 면에서 뒤지지 않으면서도 복원 속도 면에서 장점을 가짐을 확인할 수 있었다.

FPD용 컬러 필터의 수지 얼룩 결함 형상화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Visualization of Suzi Mora Defect of FPD Color Filter)

  • Detecting defects on FPD (Flat Panel Display) color filter before the full panel is made is important to reduce the manufacturing cost. Among many types of defects, the low contrast blemish such as Suzi Mura is difficult to detect using standard CCD cameras. Even skilled inspectors in the inspection line can hardly identify such defects using bare eyes. To overcome this difficulty, point spectrometer has been used to analyze the spectrum to differentiate such defects from normal color filters. However, scanning ever increasing-size color filters by a point spectrometer takes too long time to be used in real production line. We propose a system using a spectral camera which can be viewed as a line scan camera composed of an array of point spectrometers. Three types of lighting system that exhibit different illumination spectrums are devised together with a calibration method of the proposed spectral camera system. To visualize the defect areas, various processing algorithms to identify and to enhance the small differences in spectrum between defective and normal areas are developed. Experiments shows 85% successful visualization. of real samples using the proposed system.

Wavelet Analysis to Real-Time Fabric Defects Detection in Weaving processes

  • This paper introduces a vision-based on-line fabric inspection methodology of woven textile fabrics. Current procedure for determination of fabric defects in the textile industry is performed by human in the off-line stage. The advantage of the on-line inspection system is not only defect detection and identification, but also 벼ality improvement by a feedback control loop to adjust set-points. The proposed inspection system consists of hardware and software components. The hardware components consist of CCD array cameras, a frame grabber and appropriate illumination. The software routines capitalize upon vertical and horizontal scanning algorithms characteristic of a particular deflect. The signal to noise ratio (SNR) calculation based on the results of the wavelet transform is performed to measure any deflects. The defect declaration is carried out employing SNR and scanning methods. Test results from different types of defect and different style of fabric demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed inspection system.

기하학적 불변성을 이용한 새로운 렌즈 보정 기법 (A New Method Using Geometric Invariability for Lens Distortion Correction)

  • 일반적으로 실제 사용되는 카메라들은 렌즈 왜곡이 존재하며, 렌즈왜곡의 정도는 카메라의 가격뿐만 아니라 특정 용도에 의해 달라진다. 현재까지의 많은 렌즈 왜곡 보정기법들은 왜곡 변수를 찾기 위해 투영 기하학의 불변량 속성을 기반으로 한 것으로, "물체의 직선은 이미지에서의 직선"이라는 상식에서 출발한다. 하지만, 평행선인 경우 이전의 연구들은 렌즈 왜곡 변수를 결정하는데 제약이 있다. 본 논문에서는 렌즈왜곡 변수를 결정할 때 동시에 평행선 유지를 보증할 수 있는 방법을 제안함으로써, 핀홀 카메라 모델을 이용하여 투영된 이미지와 실제 이미지가 근접한 결과를 얻게 된다. 실제 이미지와 제안된 기법을 사용한 보정이미지를 비교하여 그 효율성을 입증하였다.

영상 내 건설인력 위치 추적을 위한 등극선 기하학 기반의 개체 매칭 기법 (Entity Matching for Vision-Based Tracking of Construction Workers Using Epipolar Geometry)

  • Vision-based tracking has been proposed as a means to efficiently track a large number of construction resources operating in a congested site. In order to obtain 3D coordinates of an object, it is necessary to employ stereo-vision theories. Detecting and tracking of multiple objects require an entity matching process that finds corresponding pairs of detected entities across the two camera views. This paper proposes an efficient way of entity matching for tracking of construction workers. The proposed method basically uses epipolar geometry which represents the relationship between the two fixed cameras. Each pixel coordinate in a camera view is projected onto the other camera view as an epipolar line. The proposed method finds the matching pair of a worker entity by comparing the proximity of the all detected entities in the other view to the epipolar line. Experimental results demonstrate its suitability for automated entity matching for 3D vision-based tracking of construction workers.
