In the construction industry, most safety related researches have been focused on the safety matters in construction job site while the safety issues regarding facility management have been received limited attention. Hence, this research aimed to uncover the problems of current safety management practices then suggest improvement plans. Through the questionnaire suey and analysis, following conclusions were drawn. Regarding the safety mindset, participation rate in safety prevention activities is average at most. Therefore, the extra attention and effort by property owners and managers are required. Examination of accidents indicated that 88% of them were stemmed from unsafe activities, 10% from unstable mentality and 2% from unavoidable natural disasters. Therefore, 90% of these accidents could be prevented by eliminating unsafe activities. In addition to the above findings, several other facts and suggestions are detailed.

Generalized Multichannel Quantum Defect theory (MQDT) was implemented to the vibrational predissociation of triatomic van der Waals molecules in the previous paper [Bull. Korean Chem. Soc, 12, 228 (1991)]. Implementation was limited to the calculation of the scattering matrix. It is now extended to the calculation of the predissociation spectra and the final rotational distribution of the photofragment. The comparison of the results with those obtained by other methods, such as Golden-rule type calculation, infinite order sudden approximation (IOS), and close-coupling method, shows that the implementation is successful despite the fact that transition dipole moments show more energy dependence than other quantum defect parameters. Examination of the short-range channel basis functions shows that they resemble angle-like functions and provide the validity of the IOS approximation. Besides the validity of the latter, only a few angles are found to play the major role in photodissociation. In addition to the implementation of MQDT, more progress in MQDT itself is made and reported here.

Subcorneal pustular dermatosis (SPD) is a rare pustular skin disorder of dogs. Dapsone is treatment of choice, but ineffective in some cases. Therapeutic alternatives are limited and less effective. In humans, successful results with oral retinoid have been reported. To describe successful treatment of a dog that developed SPD with acitretin as an alternative drug of dapsone. A 7-year-old male neutered miniature schnauzer was presented with generalized pustules and crusts. SPD was diagnosed based on physical, cytological, and histopathological examination with direct immunofluorescence test. In this report, we describe a case of canine SPD treated initially by dapsone with poor response that improved with acitretin. Acitretin could be considered as an alternative drug in canine SPD.

Aspergillus infection is the most common cause of death due to fungi in immunocompromised hosts. Aspergillus tracheobronchitis is an uncommon but severe form of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis, which is limited entirely or mainly to the tracheobronchial tree and can often be life-threatening. We report a case of a 54-year-old man who died from Aspergillus tracheobronchitis without an underlying disease. Autopsy revealed an extensive yellowish plaque adhering to the trachea and bronchial wall. The microscopic examination of the trachea and bronchus revealed septate branching hyphae of Aspergillus.

The nutritional value and yield of mushrooms depend on the substrate on which it is grown. This study sought to biofortify Pleurotus floridanus with calcium supplements and assess its effect on the yield and calcium levels. The experiment was set up in a 2 × 5 factorial and replicated thrice in a completely randomized design. Two calcium supplements, OML and OMW, were added to two growth media. The examination of total dry weight yield showed that calcium supplements OML and OMW in the sawdust medium containing wheatbran in the ratio 1:10 had a mean value of 4.37 g, which was significantly higher (P < 0.05) than that in the control (1.29 g). However, in the sawdust-only medium, there was no significant difference (p > 0.05) in the application of treatments. No significant difference (p > 0.05) was observed between the calcium types in both growth media. The mineral analysis showed that calcium levels were increased in harvested mushrooms with the addition of calcium OML and OMW to the growth media.

Optimization in distribution of stay cable forces is one of the most difficult aspects in the design of cable-stayed bridges. This article attempts to examine tension force influence on structural behavior of cable-stayed bridges. For the examination, finite element modeling using nonlinear static and nonlinear modal analyses was completed and compared to structural experimental results. Variables analyzed in this parametric study were: 1) Number of stay cables; 2) Tension of the stay cables, and 3) Stay cable pattern - harp and semi-fan patterns. Though the findings from the analysis are limited to the tested models, the study gives insight on the structural behavior of actual cable stayed bridges.

Religions and beliefs can affect the shopping behaviors of its followers and practitioners. However, the knowledge about the factors that motivate, facilitate and even constrain customers' purchase of spiritual goods, such as feng shui items, is limited. Therefore, in this study, I examined the reasons, facilitators, and constraints of purchasing spiritual goods from the buyers' perspective. Two research questions directed the examination process, including (1) why users buy spiritual goods? And (2) what factors may facilitate or constrain the purchase and use of spiritual goods? Using Vietnam's feng shui market as the context, I applied the autoethnographic and ethnographic methods to collect and analyze the data. I found that the two main reasons to purchase the feng shui items were the products' meaning and beauty. In addition, I observed three groups of factors that could facilitate or constrain the purchase and use of feng shui items, including information about the products and their sellers, disposable income and life stage of the buyers, and price and authenticity of the products. Finally, based on these findings, I discussed the practical implications for managing the spiritual goods market in Vietnam.

Having a firm grasp of technical terms is essential for learners of Japanese for Specific Purposes (JSP). This research aims to analyze Japanese nursing care vocabulary based on objective corpus-based frequency and subjectively rated word familiarity. For this purpose, we constructed a text corpus centered on the National Examination for Certified Care Workers to extract nursing care keywords. The Log-Likelihood Ratio (LLR) was used as the statistical criterion for keyword identification, giving a list of 300 keywords as target words for a further word recognition survey. The survey involved 115 participants of whom 51 were certified care workers (CW group) and 64 were individuals from the general public (GP group). These participants rated the familiarity of the target keywords through crowdsourcing. Given the limited sample size, Bayesian linear mixed models were utilized to determine word familiarity rates. Our study conducted a comparative analysis of word familiarity between the CW group and the GP group, revealing key terms that are crucial for professionals but potentially unfamiliar to the general public. By focusing on these terms, instructors can bridge the knowledge gap more efficiently.

Fibrous dysplasia (FD) accompanying osteomyelitis (OM) has been reported to result in recurrent, refractory pain and swelling. Although radical resection of the lesions has been suggested, effective surgical treatment strategies have not yet been established due to the limited number of studies on this pathological condition. In this report, we present the conservative surgical management of FD accompanying OM in two patients who exhibited recurrent signs and symptoms. The present report suggests that OM occurring in patients with FD can be successfully managed with conservative surgical treatment and following removal of the odontogenic origin although bone defect in which inflammatory fibro-osseous lesions is removed through decompression surgery may exhibit regeneration of dysplastic bone. In addition, for the prevention of OM in patients with FD, careful clinical examination and thorough management of dental-related pathologies are necessary with regular follow-up examinations to screen for the possibility of malignant changes.

In recent years, French courts have decided to adopt an uncompromising stance in the fight against corruption in international arbitration. While French enforcement/annulment courts were originally conducting a limited review of arbitral awards dealing with corruption allegations on international public policy grounds, they now carry a full re-examination of such awards accepting that a corruption plea be raised for the first time before them and admitting new evidence. What is at stake, in terms of international public policy, is to define the happy medium between, on the one hand, the necessity to preserve the enforceability of international arbitral awards, and, the necessity to fight corruption. This paper presents the evolution of French case law in the past years and makes a critical assessment of the French approach by comparison with other jurisdictions.
