  • Unlike traditional lightings, LED lighting is one of objects that sends user an emotional segments through brightness control from various color temperature and dimming control. Also, within present interior lighting environment, emotional researches about traditional fluorescent lamp and newly implemented LED lighting environment are in active progress. Despite the fact adjectives describing emotions and scale modeling have been repeatedly used in many cases for a long time, there seems to be a lack of results in reliability, and there is a limitation for applying into actual lighting design. The purpose of this study is to construct an actual sized test-bed, which is used to draw out one's emotional words of behavior patterns from inner emotional experiences about lighting environment in an office space. Also, having fluorescent lamp and LED lighting as the main test subjects, we have tested emotional parts according to the changes of color temperature and adjective vocabularies chosen from user's action, and we have compared and analyzed the drawn out data. • This paper deals with the design and operation of a hybrid daylighting system that uses natural and artificial lighting to enhance visual comfort in buildings. The system was developed using an AVR micro controller for solar tracking in conjunction with dimming controls, which, acting together, enables the maximum use of natural daylight and also improves energy efficiency in buildings. Experimental results clearly demonstrates the usefulness of the present system capable of enhancing indoor lighting conditions when sufficient daylight is available and distributed appropriately in harmony with artificial lighting.

  • Nowadays, the demand for home networking system is gradually increasing. But most of vendors use their own protocols. KNX/EIB ( European Installation Bus / Konnex) is a standard protocol approved as an European (EN 50090 - EN 13321-1) and a World-wide standard (ISO/IEC 14543). In this study, we develop on/off and dimming lighting control system using BIM. In this system, BIM communicates to micro-controller using PEI(Physical External Interface) communication. And this enables including more KNX/EIB communication objects in lighting control system, and providing lighting control algorithm. The technology in this paper can help to adapt the world-wide standards.

  • CCFL(cold cathode fluorescent lamp) are used to backlight of LCD(liquid crystal display). CCFL dimming methods are used to pulse frequency modulation(PFM) or pulse width modulation(PWM). In this paper, design of CCFL driving and control circuit by half-bridge type series and parallel resonant inverter that variable frequency modulation method to control the output voltage current. Inverter switching frequency is higher than resonant frequency for stable operating, and it is possible dimming control. On the basis of equivalent circuit, the validity of this study is confirmed by the comparison of simulation and experimental result.

  • Visible light communications (VLC) use modern solid-state light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to broadcast information. Emerging white-light LEDs allow the combination of lighting and optical wireless communication in one optical source. In this paper, a new LED lighting design using one-chip-type white LEDs is proposed for efficient illumination and optical wireless communications under the existence of several obstacles. Lighting and communication performance are analyzed to show the effectiveness of the proposed LED lighting. Specifically, the signal-to-noise ratio considering intersymbol interference and the bit-error rate of variable pulse position modulation (VPPM) with dimming control are considered.

  • Due to the development of technology, the modern people became to require not only more convenient life but also more comfortable and emotional environment, and individually suitable living environment is applied to residents in a residential space. Recently, while the LED lighting was variously attempted in every sector in society, it is needed to express differentiated lighting according to the resident's individual lifestyle in a residential space. In this paper, we analyze the role of LED lighting suitable for the digitalized lifestyle of the modern people through the relevant literature survey and case studies. The following results are obtained in summary of the rapidly changed recent trends of LED lighting. First, LED light replace existing light sources due to the advanced new technology in LED industry, and take the spotlight as a new lighting solution with the development of variable color LED bulb and the control technology by the wired and wireless communications. Second, LED lighting can be structurally applicable to every lighting device because of its compact and lightweight units, can produce abundant light environment by expression of variable colors and moods with the easy coloring and dimming control, can be reborn as emotional lighting design. Third, as recently practices are constantly appeared that integrate LED lights in the interior elements, such as object and furniture, and combine advanced LED lighting technology to new materials, the portion of illumination on the indoor environment is further increased after integrating the LED lighting and interior elements make boundaries of lighting and product architecture become blurred. LED lighting is confirmed that is being changed from the external functionality including material, shape, color, and etc. into the contextual emotion design including the lights expression, variable color, brightness control, making image, and etc. as the light source in current smart lighting era.

  • In this paper, we proposed a home network integrated dimmer switch using Z-wave Mesh Network. The dimmer switch come with wired and wireless network-based intelligent lighting switch that can be installed in a apartments with home network technologies. This switch is ease to install and operate. Furthermore, it provide power saving through efficient control of light using motion detect sensor and light intensity sensor. In order to evaluate the performance of our developed home network integrated dimmer switch, we performed a load performance test and from our result, it showed excellent performance in terms of lighting control and communication speed.

  • The lighting industry has become the bigger and more systemized using the semiconductor LED with each control R(Red), G(Green), B(Blue). The communication standard DMX512(ANSI E1.11) protocol of it basically needs the address which can be distinguished between the lighting terminals. The conventional method has to give the address of the lighting any methods like dip switch, EEROM and PROM. Then the lighting terminal can receive RGB data from DMX512 communication. According to electrical characteristics DMX512 protocol has to the splitter every 32 lighting terminals. If 512 lightings is all connected, maximum 16 splitters are needed. This paper is solved above weakness in DMX512 protocol using serial connection all lighting terminals. Also I developed the intelligent lighting terminal with auto-addressing. This was solved the inconvenience of the address assignment and the usage of the splitter. The developed products is applied and selled the semiconductor lighting terminals using ON-OFF control, dimming control, sequential control and rainbow control.
