A new long persistent phosphors of $CaZrO_3$ was synthesized at high temperature with weak reduction atmosphere by a traditional solid state reaction method. Photoluminescence spectra analysis showed that the $CaZrO_3$ doped with $Tb^{3+}$ emitted green-yellow emission caused by the energy level transition from the $^5D_3$ and $^5D_4$ to $^7F_1{\sim}^7F_6$. The main emission spectra of 542 nm peak by the $^5D_4{\rightarrow}^7F_5$ transition was revealed through synthesizing at high temperature in $N_2$ gas atmosphere. The afterglow emission spectra of $CaZrO_3:Tb^{3+}$ long persistent phosphores arise at 546 nm peak of narrow range. After the 254 nm ultraviolet light excitation source was switched off, the green-yellow long persistent phosphor can be observed which could last for 8 h in the limit of light perception of dark-adapted human eyes ($0.32\;mcd/m^2$).

The reduction characteristics of $NO_2$ to NO are experimentally studied over a platinum-based catalyst, especially at lower temperatures below about $200^{\circ}C$. In the present work, two types of steady-state experiments, engine bench and synthetic gas bench tests, are carried out in sequence. Steady-state engine bench tests with the DOC mounted on a light duty 4-cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine are performed and prove that CO plays a major role in $NO_2$ abatement at temperatures below the light-off temperature of CO oxidation, about $200^{\circ}C$. Synthetic gas bench tests are then performed using synthetic gas mixtures with CO, $C_3H_6$, NO, $NO_2$, $O_2$, $H_2O$ and $N_2$ in the $140{\sim}450^{\circ}C$ T-range and show that both CO and $C_3H_6$ are capable of reducing $NO_2$. It is noted that the reaction rate of $NO_2$ with $C_3H_6$ is much higher than that with CO. At temperatures below about $200^{\circ}C$, the reduction of $NO_2$ to NO is promoted with increasing CO concentration and $NO_2$/$NO_X$ ratio and with decreasing $O_2$ concentration, as well as with the presence of $H_2O$.

The control of pathogenic microorganisms is important issue in human environments, especially in surface area. However, surface disinfection has not been fully researched. In this study, the surface disinfection under UV irradiation was performed to investigate the quantitative kinetics for Bacillus subtilis spore inactivation in several experimental conditions, such as light intensity, temperature and surface roughness. This study reports that UV light would apparently inactivates the microorganisms and the required IT value for 2 log (99%) Bacillus subtilis spore inactivation was found to be 14.5 $mJ/cm^2$ in plain surface, as predicted by the Delayed Chick-Watson model. When UV was irradiated, there were no significant temperature effects. However, the experimental result shows that the more increased IT values are required at larger surface roughness.

This paper implements a dual-mode power strip controller (PSCtrl) with environmental sensors which cooperates with Android-based smartphones. According to the statistics on fires in housing facilities, unidentified electrical fires account for 23.4%. In order to reduce these fire accidents caused by user carelessness and protect life and property, smart power control techniques with improved user convenience are required. For this reason, the implemented dual-mode PSCtrl controls ON-OFF operations of a power strip in two ways (e.g. manual and automatic modes) by cooperating with Android-based smartphones provided with environmental data from light, temperature, and humidity sensors. In manual mode, users check environmental data displayed on Android-based smartphones, forcibly controlling the ON-OFF operations through the dual-mode PSCtrl, and in automatic mode, when environmental data exceeds the threshold set by users in advance, the dual-mode PSCtrl automatically controls the ON-OFF operations. Some experimental tests verify successful dual-mode operations of the implemented dual-mode PSCtrl.

This study aimed to supplement the shortcomings of the Multiple-sensor-based Frost Observation System (MFOS). The developed frost observation system is an improvement of the existing system. Based on the leaf wetness sensor (LWS), it not only detects frost but also functions to predict surface temperature, which is a major factor in frost occurrence. With the existing observation system, 1) it is difficult to observe ice (frost) formation on the surface when capturing an image of the LWS with an RGB camera because the surface of the sensor reflects most visible light, 2) images captured using the RGB camera before and after sunrise are dark, and 3) the thermal infrared camera only shows the relative high and low temperature. To identify the ice (frost) generated on the surface of the LWS, a LWS that was painted black and three sheets of glass at the same height to be used as an auxiliary tool to check the occurrence of ice (frost) were installed. For RGB camera shooting before and after sunrise, synchronous LED lighting was installed so the power turns on/off according to the camera shooting time. The existing thermal infrared camera, which could only assess the relative temperature (high or low), was improved to extract the temperature value per pixel, and a comparison with the surface temperature sensor installed by the National Institute of Meteorological Sciences (NIMS) was performed to verify its accuracy. As a result of installing and operating the MFOS v2, which reflects these improvements, the accuracy and efficiency of automatic frost observation were demonstrated to be improved, and the usefulness of the data as input data for the frost prediction model was enhanced.

Oxide thin film transistors (TFTs) have attracted considerable interest for gate diver and pixel switching devices of the active matrix (AM) liquid crystal display (LCD) and organic light emitting diode (OLED) display because of their high field effect mobility, transparency in visible light region, and low temperature processing below $300^{\circ}C$. Recently, oxide TFTs with polycrystalline In-Ga-O(IGO) channel layer reported by Ebata. et. al. showed a amazing field effect mobility of $39.1cm^2/Vs$. The reason having high field effect mobility of IGO TFTs is because $In_2O_3$ has a bixbyite structure in which linear chains of edge sharing InO6 octahedral are isotropic. In this work, we investigated the characteristics and the effects of oxygen partial pressure significantly changed the IGO thin-films and IGO TFTs transfer characteristics. IGO thin-film were fabricated by rf-magnetron sputtering with different oxygen partial pressure ($O_2/(Ar+O_2)$, $Po_2$)ratios. IGO thin film Varies depending on the oxygen partial pressure of 0.1%, 1%, 3%, 5%, 10% have been some significant changes in the electrical characteristics. Also the IGO TFTs VTH value conspicuously shifted in the positive direction, from -8 to 11V as the $Po_2$ increased from 1% to 10%. At $Po_2$ was 5%, IGO TFTs showed a high drain current on/off ratio of ${\sim}10^8$, a field-effect mobility of $84cm^2/Vs$, a threshold voltage of 1.5V, and a subthreshold slpe(SS) of 0.2V/decade from log(IDS) vs VGS.

An X1.6 flare occurred in AR 12192 on 2014 October 22 around 14:06 UT and was observed by Hinode, IRIS, SDO and RHESSI. We analyze a bright kernel which produces a white light flare (WLF) with continuum enhancement and a hard X-ray (HXR) peak. Taking advantage of the spectroscopic observations of IRIS and EIS, we measure the temporal variation of the plasma properties in the bright kernel in the chromosphere and corona. We found that explosive evaporation was observed when the WLF occurred, even though the intensity enhancement in hotter lines is quite weak. The temporal correlation of the WLF, HXR peak, and evaporation flows indicates that the WLF was produced by accelerated electrons. To understand the white light emission processes, we calculated the deposited energy flux from the non-thermal electrons observed by RHESSI and compared it to the dissipated energy estimated from the chromospheric lines (Mg II triplet) observed by IRIS. The deposited energy flux from the non-thermal electrons is about $3.1{\times}10^{10}erg\;cm^{-2}s^{-1}$ when we assume a cut-off energy of 20 keV. The estimated energy flux from the temperature changes in the chromosphere measured from the Mg II subordinate line is about $4.6-6.7{\times}10^9erg\;cm^{-2}s^{-1}$, 15 - 22 % of the deposited energy. By comparison of these estimated energy fluxes we conclude that the continuum enhancement was directly produced by the non-thermal electrons.

Growth responses along the gradient of water temperature, salinity, and light intensity and cytotoxicity against Artemia nauplii were explored using Ostreopsis sp. and Coolia canariensis strains, representing the two potentially toxic epiphytic dinoflagellate (EPD) species from Jeju coastal waters of Korea. Variation in maximum growth rate (GRmax) and maximum biomass yield (Ymax) along the environmental gradients was quite contrasting between the two strains, which appears to be reflected in the in situ abundance distribution of the corresponding genera. The more eurythermal characteristics of Ostreopsis sp. strain were in good agreement with the relative distribution of Ostreopsis spp. and Coolia spp. in 520 macroalgal samples collected from 6 stations. The more stenohaline C. canariensis strain was well matched by a markedly narrower range of salinities in the in situ distribution of Coolia spp. than the salinity range for Ostreopsis species. The differences in light adaptation between the high light-preferring Ostreopsis sp. strain and the more euryphotic C. canariensis strain were remarkably consistent with the distinct vertical profiles of Ostreopsis spp. and Coolia spp. abundance in the red alga Amphiroa sp. off Moom-seom. Cytotoxicity against Artemia nauplii in the Ostreopsis sp. preparation with 1000 cells ml-1 was similar to that in C. canariensis preparation with 12000 cells ml-1, which is noteworthy. Thus, the new potential cytotoxicity risks from C. canariensis along with the well-known toxic genus Ostreopsis may be introduced to Jeju coasts, which necessitates further exploration into the contrasting ecological niches occupied by EPD species in relation to their cytotoxicity.

In order to produce wearable displays with high adhesion while maintaining flexible characteristics, the adhesive method using electro plating method was carried out. Laser lift-off (LLO) transcription was also used to remove sapphire substrates from LEDs bonded to fibers. Afterwards, the SEM and EDS data of the sample, which conducted the adhesion method using electro plating, confirmed that copper actually grows through the lattice of the fiber fabric to secure the light source and fiber. The adhesion characteristics of copper were checked using Universal testing machine (UTM). After plating adhesion, the characteristics of the LLO transcription process completed and the LED without the transcription process were compared using probe station. The electroluminescence (EL) according to the enhanced current was measured to check the characteristics of the light source after the process. As the current increases, the temperature rises and the bandgap decreases, so it was confirmed that the spectrum shifted. In addition, the change in the electrical characteristics of the samples according to the radius change is confirmed using probe station. The radius strain also had mechanical strength that copper could withstand bending stress, so the Vf variation was measured below 6%. Based on these results, it is expected that it will be applied to batteries, catalysts, and solar cells that require flexibility as well as wearable displays, contributing to the development of wearable devices.
Ti-In-Zn-O (TIZO)/Ag/TIZO multilayer transparent electrodes were prepared on glass substrates at room temperature using RF/DC magnetron sputtering. Obtained multilayer structure comprising TIZO/Ag/TIZO (10 nm/10 nm/40 nm) with the total thickness of 60 nm showed a transmittance of 86.5% at 650 nm and a sheet resistance of 8.1 Ω/□. The multilayer films were expected to be applicable for use in energy-saving smart window based on polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) because of their transmittance properties to effectively block infrared rays (heat rays). We investigated the effects of the content ratio of prepolymer, the thickness of the PDLC coating layer, and the ultraviolet (UV) light intensity on electro-optical properties, and the surface morphology of polyester acrylate-based PDLC systems using new TIZO/Ag/TIZO transparent conducting electrodes. A PDLC cell with a thickness of 15 ㎛ PDLC layer photocured at an UV intensity of 1.5 mW/cm2 exhibited good driving voltage, favorable on-state transmittance, and excellent off-haze. The LC droplets formed on the surface of the polymer matrix of the PDLC composite had a size range of 1 to 3 ㎛ capable of efficiently scattering incident light. Also, the PDLC-based smart window manufactured using TIZO/Ag/TIZO multi-layered transparent electrodes in this study exhibited a light brown, which will have an advantage in terms of aesthetics.
