A remote $CO_2$ laser system can rapidly change both the distance and the direction of the laser beam by moving a lens and rotating mirrors. It is then easy to weld complex patterns of weld lines. A conventional spot weld joint specimen and a remote $CO_2$ laser weld joint specimen with complex weld line patterns were prepared and tested both statically and dynamically. The relationships between the fatigue strength, i. e. the maximum cyclic force, and the fatigue life were obtained. The fatigue strength of the tested welded joints at two million cycles was found to be approximately 10% of the static strength. Furthermore, it was observed that the fatigue fracture mode changed with the level of the applied cyclic force. The fatigue crack origins were confirmed as the highest stress points found in the structural analysis. The maximum cyclic stress for different weld patterns converges as the fatigue life approaches two million cycles.

A new brown button mushroom cultivar, 'Hogam', C34 line, was made by crossing homokaryons, ASI1164-37 and ASI1175-66, selected by RAPD analysis and by cultivating three times. Mycelium of 'Hogam' on CDA (compost dextrose agar) media grew well at $25^{\circ}C$. The optimum pin-heading temperature of new variety and optimum growing temperature was $14-18^{\circ}C$. The thickness of the mature cap and stipe were thicker than a control, 'Dahyang' that developed in 2010. The color of pileus was light brown and lighter than 'Dahyang'. Days required from casing to first harvesting were three days longer than control strain, but the weight of harvested fruiting body increased by 1.35 times. 'Hogam' cultivar are expected to contribute to the diversification of domestic mushroom cultivars.
Objective : Membranous nephropathy(MN) is one of the most common causes of nephrotic syndrome in adults. MN has been defined as granular subepithelial deposition of IgG immune complexes along the glomerular basement membrane(GBM). However, there is not a satisfactory treatment for MN. We aimed to identify the effect of Impatiens balsamina Linne(IBL) treatment on cationic bovine serum albumin(cBSA)-induced MN in a mouse model. Methods : Mice were divided into 4 groups. The normal group was injected with saline. The Control group was treated with cBSA(50 mg/kg i.p) only. The third group IBL-100, was treated with cBSA(50 mg/kg, i.p) and IBL(100 mg/kg, p.o). The fourth group IBL-400, was treated with cBSA(50 mg/kg, i.p) and IBL (400 mg/kg, p.o). After cBSA and IBL treatment for 6 weeks, we measured change of body weight, proteinuria, serum albumin, total cholesterol, triglyceride, BUN, creatinine, IgA, IgM, IgG, TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-6 and IL-$1{\beta}$ levels. The morphologic changes of renal glomeruli were also observed with a light microscope. Results : The level of proteinuria significantly decreased and serum albumin increased in groups treated with cBSA and IBL extract compared with the control. The levels of serum triglyceride, BUN, IgG, TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-$1{\beta}$ significantly decreased in both IBL groups. In histological findings of kidney tissue, thickening of GBM decreased in both IBL groups. Conclusions : This study shows that IBL might be effective for treatment of acute stage MN. More clinical data and studies are to be done for efficient application.
Recently, as smart phone technology is developing, wearable devices is also accelerating. But, the wearable device is necessary to operated for a long time with a small electric power because werable device is made compact. In this paper, we design and implement efficient lithium polymer battery model suitable to miniaturized wearable device in oder to maximize ease of use. The proposed model is characterized by a compact size of the battery by applying a thermal element and a light-weight battery. Also, proposed model gives greatly improve the life of wearable devices because it uses a method using the characteristics of the Peltier device using the temperature difference between the room temperature and body temperature of a person to generate power for charging. In particular, the proposed model can be used for the wearable device, as well as auxiliary charging of the smart phone.
This study aimed to identify professional climbers'demand for movement functionality in pants worn for rock climbing and ice climbing. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 12 professional climbers using a semi-constructed questionnaire. The respondents were instructor-level experts whose climbing ability ranged from 5.9 to 5.14 on the Yosemite Decimal System rating scale. The research findings were as follows. Experts wore different climbing pants depending on the type of climbing. For example, they mostly wore high-stretch, second layer pants for rock climbing, while layering first layer, second layer, and third layer pants for ice climbing. There were gender differences regarding the parts of the body in which climbers reported the most discomfort when wearing climbing pants; male climbers most commonly responded 'knees', 'inner thighs' and 'hips' while their female counterparts most commonly responded 'inner thighs', 'exposed back and waist' and 'hips' in that order. Differences were found between rock climbing and ice climbing in terms of wear and tear on pants, preferred fabric properties, and length of pants. Wear and tear was found mainly on the hips and knees of rock climbing pants and on the inner lower hem of ice climbing pants. Listed in the order of preference, the most preferred fabric properties were elasticity, light weight, and durability for rock climbing pants and elasticity, insulation, and protection against water and wind for ice climbing pants. Regarding the length of rock climbing pants, respondents preferred ankle-length pants and cropped pants that did not cover the feet. For ice climbing pants, respondents favored heel-length pants that prevented pieces of ice from entering the clothing. Men showed a high level of preference for ergonomically cut climbing pants. Respondents said the waistband on climbing pants should be simplified so as not to adversely affect climbing maneuvers.

Performance and productivity of robot manipulator can be improved by increasing its working speed and extending its link length. But heavy weght of the commercial robot links, considered as "rigid body", limits its mazimum working speed and the weght of the links can be reduced for high speed operation. But this light-weight link or long link for special use cannot be consideredas "rigid" structure and vibration of the link due to its flexibility causes errors in end-effector position and orientation. Thus the elastic behaviro of the flexible link should be taken care of for increasing work speed and getting smaller error of end-effector position. In this paper, the fuzzy control theory is selected to design the controller which controlos the joint positions of the robot manipulator and suppress the vibration of flexible link. In the forst place, for the 1 DOF flexible link system, the fuzzy control theory is implemented. The contdroller for the 1 DOF flexible link system is designed. Experimental research is carried out to examine the controllability and the validity of the fuzzy control theory based controller. Next, using the extended desing schemes for the case of the 1 DOF flexible link system and usign the experimental phenomena of the 3 DOF flexible link system, the fuzzy controller for the 3 DOF flexible link system is desinged and experimented.ed and experimented.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of ethanolic extracts of Scutellaria Radix on the alveolar bone formation in the extract socket of rat. Thirty-six Sprague-dawley rats were used in this study. Mean body weight of rat was $130{\pm}5g$. Experimental animal were administered 0.4% ,${\beta}-aminopropionitril$(Sigma, USA) with the solid commercial food for 5 days. All the maxillary 1st molar of the rats were extracted by using of the tissue forcep under the general anesthesia with Pentobarbital sodium(Tokyo Chemical Co, Japan) injection into intraperitoneal space. All the extracted rats were divided into two group, experimental group which were feeded the solid food mixed ethanolic extracts of Scutellaria Radix, and control group which were feeded same food without reagent. At 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 14th days after tooth extraction, rats in both groups were serially sacrificed respectively. All the specimen were treated as usual method and prepared Hematoxylin-eosin stain for the light microscopic observation. The results were as follows : 1. Bone formation of extracted socket starts from the area on remained periodontal ligament than other area. 2. In the case of administration of the extracted Scutellaria Radix showed rapid healing process of connective tissue than non-administrated group. 3. In the case of administration of the extracted Scutellaria Radixshowed rapid osteogenesis than non-administrated With above results, it was concluded that ethanolic extracts of Scutellaria Radix may play a favorable role on the healing process of exatraction socket after extraction in rats. It was suggested that further study to evaluate the different concentration and administration method of ethanolic extracts of the Scutellaria Radix into same experimental model.
Pyroelectric infrared sensors have been fabricated using P(VDF/TrFE) film with pyroelectric effect. The weight percent and thickness of the poled P(VDF/TrFE) film are 75/25 percent and $25\;{\mu}m$ respectively. For easier fabrication and connection method new top and bottom electrodes design was adapted for human body detecting pyroelectric infrared sensor. An aluminum infrared absorption electrode and bottom electrode were deposited by thermal evaporator. And the device was mounted in TO-5 housing to detect infrared light of $5.5{\sim}14\;{\mu}m$ wavelength. The responsibility, NEP (noise equivalent power) and specific detectivity $D^*$ of the device were $9.62{\times}10^5\;V/W$, $3.95{\times}10^{-7}\;W$ and $5.06{\times}10^5\;cm/W$ under emission energy of $13\;{\mu}W/cm^2$ respectively.
Botulism is a neuroparalytic disease caused by Clostridium botulinum, which produces seven (A-G) antigenically diverse neurotoxins (BoNTs). BoNTs are the most poisonous substances known to humans, with a median lethal dose ($LD_{50}$) of approximately 1 ng/kg of body weight. Owing to their extreme potency and lethality, they have the potential to be used as a bioterrorism agent. The mouse bioassay is the gold standard for the detection of botulinum neurotoxins; however, it requires at least 3-4 days for completion. Attempts have been made to develop an ELISA-based detection system, which is potentially an easier and more rapid method of botulinum neurotoxin detection. The present study was designed using a synthetic gene approach. The synthetic gene encoding the catalytic domain of BoNT serotype B from amino acids 1-450 was constructed with PCR overlapping primers (BoNT/B LC), cloned in a pQE30 UA vector, and expressed in an E. coli M15 host system. Recombinant protein production was optimized at 0.5 mM IPTG final concentration, 4 h post induction, resulting in a maximum yield of recombinant proteins. The immunogenic nature of the recombinant BoNT/B LC protein was evaluated by ELISA. Antibodies were raised in BALB/c mice using various adjuvants. A significant rise in antibody titer (p<0.05) was observed in the Alum group, followed by the Titermax Classic group, Freund's adjuvant, and the Titermax Gold group. These developed high-titer antibodies may prove useful for the detection of botulinum neurotoxins in food and clinical samples.
This study was carried out to examine the effects of alcohol on serum lipid levels. Subjects of this study were 50 military officers living in Honsung, Korea, 25 of whom consumed alcohol on a regular basis and 25 of whom did not. All subjects were previously informed of the purpose of the study and the methods of food intake reporting and blood testing. The age distribution range of subjects was 30-49 years. Weight, height, and body mass index(BMI) were not significantly different between the two groups. Blood pressure was compared, and it was found that the drinker group had mean systolic(SBP) and diastolic blood pressures(DBP) 10mmHg higher than the non-drinker group. Nutrient intake levels of the two groups were not significantly different and were adequate with respect to the recommended dietary allowances. It was found that the drinker group ingested more calories, protein, fat and vitamn B1 than the non-drinker group, while the non-drinker group ingested more carbohydrate, calcium, iron, vitamin A, niacin and ascorbic acid. These differences were believed caused by increased caloric intake from alcohol and additional intake of meat served with drinks for the drinking group. Fourteen of the twenty-five drinkers(56%) had drank regularly for five to ten years. Most drinkers drank 2-3 times per week, with alcohol intake less than two bottles(720ml)of distilled liquor(Soju) at a time. Meat was often served with alcohol as reported by 72% of the drinker group, and was believed to contribute to raised intake of calories, protein and fat in this group. Serum lipid levels of both groups were classified as normal, but the components of total cholesterol, triglycerides were significantly higher in drinkers than non-drinkers. The correlation between triglyceride levels and alcohol intake at one sitting was shown to be significantly positive(r=0.57, p<0.01), so it was believed that triglyceride elevation was associated more with heavy drinking than light drinking. We can conclude that if alcohol is consumed with a normal diet, then serum cholesterol, triglyceride and total lipid levels are expected to increase.
