In this paper, we study the light pen emulator implementation that can be used in industrial computer. For use in industrial control field, an input device of an industrial machine is an electronic pen is usually used, but now many cases, a light pen cannot be used to the computer. In this study, the light pen emulator to substitute for the function that is available to the peripheral device on the PC, now. So we want to increase the utilization of industrial computer in this research. The light pen emulator was designed by USB HOST, CPLD and MPU. Light pen signal, after interpret the input from the touch screen and mouse and USB system data, was output by calculating screen coordinates. As a result, we showed that it is possible to use the computer in a variety of industrial devices such as a mouse, digitizer, touch screen, stylus, and designed emulator.

Reverse engineering is reproducing products by directly extracting geometric information from physical objects such as clay model wooden mock-up etc. The fundamental work in the reverse engineering is to acquire the geometric data for modeling the objects. This research proposes a novel method for data acquisition aiming at unmanned fast and precise measurement. This is come true by the sensor fusion with CCD camera using structured light beam and touch trigger sensor. The vision system provides global information of the objects data. In this case the number of data and position allocation for touch sensor is critical in terms of the productivity since the number of vision data is very huge. So we applied wavelet transform to reduce the number of data and to allocate the position of the touch probe. The simulated and experimental results show this method is good enough for data reduction.

The Infrared touch method is generally used for a mid and large-size touch screen. But this method has several problems, such as difficulty with installation of a touch-object recognition device, limited application and coordinate error in multi-point touch system. Since we can take advantages of both color and local information when we use general cameras for a touch screen, a touch screen using general camera is more efficient than infrared one. It also has an advantage of easy installation of a touch-object device. However, it did not much appeal in a market because of several problems, such as color sensitivity, illumination and reflected light. In this paper, we study a method for a touch screen using a general camera and image processing method to recognize touch objects and coordinate calculation method to single and multi-point touch screen. It has the same recognition performance as an infrared touch screen for single-point method. And it does not have ghost point problem by using distance information of touch object and camera in multi-point touch system. But recognition performances of multi-point touch screen are less than single-point. If we improve execution time, this method can replace an infrared method for a single point touch screen, according to result of experience.

In this paper, an optical touch panel device is newly proposed, with operating principle based on the optical coupling between a pointing pen having a built-in light source and perpendicularly crossed optical waveguide arrays. In order to enable an external light to couple into a waveguide core, the auxiliary pyramidal structures are introduced into all intersecting points located periodically along optical waveguides. The shape is optimized for minimizing the unwanted propagation loss due to the same structure by a ray tracing method. For the optical waveguide with the size of $50{\times}50{\mu}m^2$, the bottom width, height, and slope angle of the optimized pyramidal structure are $50{\mu}m$, $22.5{\mu}m$, and $42^{\circ}$, respectively. The optical coupling efficiency of about 97.8% and the average propagation loss of 0.3 dB/mm were achieved for the optimized touch panel. Finally, it is found from the tolerance analysis that tilting of the pen up to ${\pm}12^{\circ}$ can be allowed.

In HDD industry, many technologies have been developed and investigated as means to increase the areal density of drives. Especially, heat assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) system has been considered as the next generation storage device. Most of the HAMR systems use near field optics as heating mechanism. Therefore, light delivery system is indispensable. We considered the light delivery system with laser diode (LD) mount and optical fiber. Mass and stiffness of the HAMR system using these LD mount and optical fiber are changed. The mass and stiffness of the HAMR system affects the slider dynamic behavior. It is necessary to analyze touch down (TD) and take off (TO). And, we performed the TD-TO experiment with HAMR suspension. Finally, we analyzed the result of TD-TO experiments. And we suggested the design of HAMR suspension to improve TD-TO performance.

The paper presents a feature recognition and segmentation method for surface approximation in reverse engineering. Efficient digitizing plays an important role in constructing a computational surface model from a physical part-surface without its CAD model on hand. Depending on its measuring source (e.g., touch probe or structured light), each digitizing method has its own strengths and weaknesses in terms of speed and accuracy. The final goal of the research focuses on an integration of two different digitizing methods: measuring by the structured light and that by the touch probe. Gathering bulk of digitized points (j.e., cloud-of-points) by use of a laser scanning system, we construct a coarse surface model directly from the cloud-of-points, followed by the segmentation process where we utilize the z-map filleting & differencing to trace out feature boundary curves. The feature boundary curves and the approximate surface model could be inputs to further digitizing by a scanning touch probe. Finally, more accurate measuring points within the boundary curves can be obtained to construct a finer surface model.
A street light is an electrical equipment to improve the traffic safety and the security for people in night. However, many accidents due to electric shock have happened in recent, people were interested in the safety of electrical facilities. And people want to know the danger by touch and step voltages. When the electric power lines fall down on the ground, the fault current flows to ground rod and the potential near the ground rod is increased to induce the high touch and step voltages. In this paper, we installed different ground rods with a street light and investigated the electrical potential according to ground methods and the types of ground rod. Finally, we examined the electrical facilities with the experimental result and present the improved technical data for the safety from electric shock

TouchFace III 시스템은 FTIR(Frustrated Total Internal Reflection : 내부 전반사 장애 현상) 방식이 아닌 TouchLight방식과 HoloWall방식을 조합하여 시스템을 구성하였다.
Background: Light touch cue is a sensory input that could potentially help in the control of posture. The immediate stimulatory effect of light touch cues using a cane during gait is associated with postural stability. This strategy can help post-stroke individuals regain their ability to perform the sit-to-stand (STS) transfer safely. Objects: The effects of light grip on postural control during the STS transfer in post-stroke subjects were investigated. Methods: Eleven participants (6 men, 5 women) with hemiplegia due to stroke were recruited in the study. The subjects with hemiparesis performed STS transfer in three randomly assigned conditions (1) without a cane (2) light grip with a cane (3) strong grip with a cane. Results: The difference in weight-bearing distribution between the left and right feet, when the subjects were instructed to stand up, was $52.73{\pm}2.13%$ without a cane, $42.75{\pm}3.26%$ with a strong grip, and $43.00{\pm}2.55%$ with a light grip (p<.05). The rate of rise in force indicates the peak power provided by subjects during their STS transfers. The rate of rise in force was statistically significantly lower without a cane than that with a light grip or a strong grip (p<.05). The subjects' centers of pressure sway on the mediolateral side during STS transfers statistically significantly declined with a light grip or a strong grip when compared to those without a cane (p<.05). Conclusion: When the subjects with hemiparesis used a cane during STS transfers, their duration, center of pressure sway, and difference in weight-bearing distribution were all reduced. The subjects also exhibited similar results during STS transfers with a cane gripped lightly. This result may provide guidelines for the use of assistive devices when patients with hemiparesis practice STS transfers in clinical settings.
A new hybrid-type touch screen panel (TSP) has been developed based on a-Si:H TFT which can detect the change of both $C_{LC}$ and photo-current. This TSP can detect the difference of $C_{LC}$ between touch and no-touch states in unfavorable conditions such as dark ambient light and shadows. The hybrid TSP sensor consists of a detection area which includes one TFT for photo sensing and two TFTs for amplification. Compared to a single internal capacitive TSP or an optical sensing TSP, this new proposed hybrid-type TSP enables larger sensing margin due to embedding of both optical and capacitive sensors.
