  • The influence of a silane layer on the performances of polymer light emitting diode(pLED)s has been studied. Glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane(GPS) with an epoxy functional group was used as a surface modifier for ITO substrates. The GPS layer was inserted between an ITO and a poly(3,4)-ethylenedioxythiophene/polystyrenesulfonate(PEDOT) by wet process and the performances of PLEDs were investigated. The introduction of GPS layer increased the brightness and efficiency of PLEDs by 30%. In addition, the lifetime of PLEDs was also improved considerably by using GPS as a surface modifier.

  • Organic light-emitting diode is quick response speed, low power consumption and the self-interest has many advantages, such as insanity. So, organic light-emitting diode mechanism of light-emitting diode in order to more clearly understand the changes in the thickness of emitting materials for OLED characteristics of the simulation. emitting layer to a thickness of 10 [nm] ~ 100 [nm] changed the experiment, and hole transport layer 190 [nm] as a fixed. and emitting layer 10 [nm] ~ 100 [nm] to change the simulation results. Changes in the thickness of emitting layer gradually increased. depending on the emitting was 20 [nm] in the high 441 [lm / W] shows. and was gradually reduced. emitting layer 190 [nm] when fixed, hole transport layer, depending on changes in the thickness of 70 [nm] in the efficiency maximum value of 477 [lm / W], and was gradually reduced.

  • This study was conducted to determine the effect of a light-emitting diode (LED) on in vitro shoot growth and rooting in teak (Tectona grandis L.). In the experiments with apical bud explants, the greatest shoot elongation (3.2 cm) occurred when they were cultured on DKW medium under 50% blue and 50% red LED mixture (BR), whereas no differences in growth were observed in different light sources (florescent light [F] or BR) or media (MS or DKW). The highest number of shoot multiplication (2.4/explant) or elongation (4.94 cm) was achieved with 0.5 or 1.0 mg/L 6-Benzyladenine (BA) treatment under BR. In addition, the best rooting rate (93.8%) or root length (1.3 cm) was recorded with 0.5 mg/L indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) treatment under BR, and the highest root induction (3.1/explant) was observed in 0.2 mg/L IBA under BR. The in vitro rooted plantlets were hardened and survived well on soil.

  • A phosphor-conversion white light source is demonstrated using an InGaN-based blue laser diode (LD) and a yellow-emitting phosphor excited by the blue LD. The photometric and colorimetric properties of this blue-LD-based white light source are characterized. When injection current of the LD is 100 mA, luminous flux and luminous efficiency of the white light are found to be over 5 lm and 10 lm/W, respectively. When injection current is >90 mA, luminance is estimated to be larger than 10 Mcd/$cm^2$. In addition, color characteristics of the white light such as chromaticity coordinates, a correlated color temperature, and a color rendering index are found to be quite stable as current and temperature of the LD varies. The demonstrated LD-based white light source is expected to be used in high-brightness illumination applications with good color stability.

  • A highly efficient organic light-emitting diode (OLED) with an in-cell polarizer made of an imprinted liquid crystalline polymer (LCP) layer doped with dichroic dye molecules is presented. The in-cell polarizer was found to be capable of effectively polarizing the emission light of the OLED and of significantly improving the luminance through the periodic microstructures fabricated using an imprinting method. This type of OLED with an imprinted in-cell polarizer is useful for efficient light source applications in liquid crystal displays (LCDs).

  • LED communication is a wireless communication technology to transmit information using visible light coming out from the LED(Light Emitting Diode). It is a technique that can overcome RF(Radio Frequency) communication problems that are frequency allocations, human body hazards, security vulnerabilities, and interference between electronic devices. As a technique that can be used as lighting and communications with using LED, LED communication is suitable for ubiquitous environment. This paper introduces the process of data transmission algorithm for LED communication systems algorithm using LED, PD(Photodiode), and MCU(Micro Controller Unit).

  • The author analyzes the luminous efficiency of the phosphor-conversion white light-emitting diode (LED) that consists of a blue LED chip and a yellow phosphor. A theoretical model is derived to find the relation between luminous efficiency (LE) of a white LED, wall-plug efficiency (WPE) of a blue LED chip, and the phosphor absorption ratio of blue light. The presented model enables to obtain the theoretical limit of LE and the lower bound of WPE. When the efficiency model is applied to the measured results of a phosphor-conversion white LED, the limit theoretical value of LE is obtained to be 261 lm/W. In addition, for LE of 88 lm/W at 350 mA, the lower bound of WPE in the blue LED chip is found to be ~34%. The phosphor absorption ratio of blue light was found to have an important role in optimizing the luminous efficiency and colorimetric properties of phosphor-conversion white LEDs.

  • We present 2D slab silicon-based photonic crystal optical insulator to enhance light emission efficiency of light-emitting diode (LED). A 2D slab silicon photonic crystal is designed in such a way that light emitting diode die can be placed in the middle of the silicon photonic crystal. The device creates light propagation forbidden region in horizontal plane for Transverse Electric (TE) light with the wavelength range of 450 nm to 600 nm.

  • The light emitting diode (LED) was fabricated from n-type porous silicon. We investigated both the current-voltage characteristics of the LED with various electrode materials and changes of electroluminescence with applied current density. Also we probed changes in electroluminescence as a function of operation time at a given current. In order to Improve the contact area between the electrode material and porous silicon layer, we deposited indium on porous silicon layer by electroplating and investigated the electric characteristics of the LED and changes of electroluminescence.
