Digital engineering models for prefabricated bridge piers

  • Data-driven engineering is crucial for information delivery between design, fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of prefabricated structures. Design for manufacturing and assembly (DfMA) is a critical methodology for prefabricated bridge structures. In this study, a novel concept of digital engineering model that combined existing knowledge of DfMA with object-oriented parametric modeling technologies was developed. Three-dimensional (3D) geometry models and their data models for each phase of a construction project were defined for information delivery. Digital design models were used for conceptual design, including aesthetic consideration and possible variation during fabrication and assembly. The seismic performance of a bridge pier was evaluated by linking the design parameters to the calculated moment-curvature curves. Control parameters were selected to consider the tolerance control and revision of the digital models. Digitalized fabrication of the prefabricated members was realized using the digital fabrication model with G-code for a concrete printer or a robot. The fabrication error was evaluated and the design digital models were updated. The revised fabrication models were used in the preassembly simulation to guarantee constructability. For the maintenance of the bridge, the as-built information was defined for the prefabricated bridge piers. The results of this process revealed that data-driven information delivery is crucial for lifecycle management of prefabricated bridge piers.

  • Different CAx systems are being utilized throughout the product lifecycle due to the practical reasons in the supply chain and design processes. One of the major problems facing enterprises of today is how to share and exchange data among heterogeneous applications. Since different software applications use different terminologies, it is difficult to share and exchange the product data with internal and external partners. This paper presents a method to enhance the CAD model interoperability based on feature ontology. The feature ontology has been constructed based on the feature definition of modeling commands of CAD systems. A method for integration of semantic data has been proposed, implemented, and tested with two commercial CAD systems.

Study on the splitting failure of the surrounding rock of underground caverns

  • In this paper splitting failure on rock pillars among the underground caverns has been studied. The damaged structure is considered to be thin plates and then the failure mechanism of rock pillars has been studied consequently. The critical load of buckling failure of the rock plate has also been obtained. Furthermore, with a combination of the basic energy dissipation principle, generalized formulas in estimating the number of splitting cracks and in predicting the maximum deflection of thin plate have been proposed. The splitting criterion and the mechanical model proposed in this paper are finally verified with numerical calculations in FLAC 3D.

  • In order to develop VirtuAlmighty system, CPDM (construction project data management) and CPLM (construction project lifecycle management) model must be settled beforehand. Because most of information systems based on 3D-Design have its own database and business process. So, our team will develop collaboration management architecture of construction process for Decision Support based on PLM (Project Life-cycle Management). This architecture with business processes and Database can be used in process develop, process monitoring with many stakeholders of project, process change management, and so on.

  • 본 연구는 효과적 생애주기 지원을 위한 사회기반시설물의 3차원 기반 정보모델의 활용방안에 대해 기술하였다. 3차원 기반 정보모델은 형상 정보뿐만 아니라 각 구성요소의 속성정보도 포함하고 있어야 하며, 의사결정 지원을 위한 엔지니어링 문서정보와도 연계 가능해야 한다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 국제표준 데이터 모델링 도구인 IFC를 도로시설물에 적용하기 위한 확장방안을 제시하였고, XML을 이용한 엔지니어링 문서와의 통합연계 방안을 통해 사회기반시설의 효과적 생애주기 지원 전략을 제시하였다. 또한, 이를 활용한 구조해석 모델의 생성, GIS와의 연계 방안 도출의 실사례 구현을 통해 응용 도메인으로의 활용 가능성을 확인하였다.

CASE 도구를 이용한 ATC 차상 소프트웨어의 UML 모델링 (Modeling of ATC On-Board Software in UML Using CASE Tool)

  • ATC on-board equipment require realtime embedded software with high level of safety and reliability. To satisfy these requirements, many techniques are applied to the development of software during the lifecycle. In case of software modeling, object-oriented methodology is widening its niche replacing traditional structured methodology and modeling in UML using a CASE tool is a growing trend. In this paper, we modeled ATC on-board software in UML using Rhapsody, which is a modeling tool for realtime embedded software. We modeled the behavior of ATC on-board equipment based on state machine diagram and validated the model using the animation feature provided in the tool. According to our study, the CASE tool based on UML showed high level of applicability in modeling and verifying the software with complex behavioral characteristics.

  • This paper proposes a novel appoach which can assess the system technical maturity for use in Defense R&D Program reviews. As the weapon systems become more complicated, the success and effectiveness of R&D outcome heavily depend on the application and tailoring of systems engineering process and methods. It is a difficult task to assess the system readiness level(SRL) of the system being developed. A system-focused approach for managing weapon systems development and making effective and efficient decisions during the development lifecycle is critical to ensure the success of the program. The proposed weighted average SRL can facilitate the system technical maturity assessment without expending heavy work load.

  • 기존에 제안된 객체 모델링 방법론에서 정적 측면의 모델링은 시멘틱 모델 등의 풍부한 시멘틱을 제공하여 모델과 모델링의 많은 부분들을 정형화할 수 있다 그러나 대부분의 방법론들은 동적 모델과 모델링의 정형화가 미흡하다. 또한 기존의 동적 모델은 실시간과 멀티미디어 시스템에서 매우 중요한 특성인 객체간의 상호적용 관계 및 시간적 제약성을 정확하게 표현할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제들을 해결 하기 위해서 행위를 기반으로한 정형적인 동적 모델과 모델링 절차를 제안한다. 이 모델은 대수구조 개념을 도입하여 객체의 상태 영역을 정의하고, 객체의 행위를 하나의 함수로 정의한다. 또한 이 모델은 시제논리와 정의된 행위함수를 사용하여 객체의 라이프사이클과 행성을 정형화한다. finig rule들을 사용하여 객체간의 행위적 종속성을 표현하므로써 기존의 객체 중심의 동적 모델에서 표현할 수 없는 시스템 관점의 행위도 일부 표현할 수 있다. 제안된 정형화된 모델을 기반으로 문제를 분 석할 수 있는 모델링 도구와 절차를 정형화 한다.

산업현장의 휴먼에러 예방을 위한 통합적 분석모델의 개발 (Development of a Comprehensive Model for Human Error Prevention in Industrial Fields)

  • A lot of models have been developed for prevention of human errors. Nevertheless most of them failed to attract attention of industry which has been looking for an integrative model that can show practical countermeasures as well as causal factors of human errors. This research aimed to develop a comprehensive model that can mainly be applied to industrial fields. Therefore, in the model, it was tried to explain sequences of an operator's information process that might cause human errors on one hand, and life cycle stages of facilities involved when human errors occur on the other hand. This model was validated by using a typical accident case. With the comprehensive model presented in this research, one could follow up the sequence of human errors caused by operators, and errors made at the design stage which might cause accidents could be tracked. As a consequence, it is expected that much attention would be paid to preventing human errors in industrial fields since safety personnel can easily find out cause of human errors throughout life cycle stages of man-machine facilities if utilizing the suggested model.

활동이론을 중심으로 한 연구데이터 큐레이션 개념 모델 제안 (Proposal of a Conceptual Model for Research Data Curation based on Activity Theory)

  • 본 연구는 활동이론을 이론적 틀로 활용하여 연구데이터 큐레이션 모델을 분석한 문헌 연구로, 활동이론에서 사용하는 활동의 구성 요소들을 바탕으로 여러 연구데이터 큐레이션 모델을 분석했을 뿐만 아니라 연구데이터 큐레이션 활동을 수행하는데 있어서 도서관계에서 논의가 필요한 현안을 분석하였다. 그리고 이를 기반으로 새로운 연구데이터 큐레이션 개념 모델을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 기존에 제안된 5개의 디지털 큐레이션 생애주기모델이 어떻게 구성되어 있는지 분석하고 각각의 모델에서 산발적으로 제시되는 활동요인들을 분석하여 공통요인을 추출하고 새로운 모델로 통합하여 새로운 연구데이터 큐레이션 개념 모델을 제안하였다. 또한, 도서관 및 리포지토리에서 연구데이터 큐레이션 활동을 수행함에 있어서 고려해야 할 6가지의 현안들을 분석하고 논의하였다. 본 연구에서 제안되는 연구데이터 큐레이션 개념 모델은 총 10단계로 이루어져 있으며, 각 활동의 단계에서 고려해야 할 실천적 문제와 모순을 포함하고 있다.
