  • Purpose: This paper is a basic study done to establish spiritual health concepts according to Korean culture. The focus was on identifying perceived concepts of spiritual health in Korean people. Methods: The Q method, which is effective in measuring individual subjectivity, was used in this study. Results: Perception of the concept of spiritual health was found to have 3 independent types, Type I is a self-directed, present life centered type. This is a group stressing the importance of planning self-directed life and the people of this group consider the values of the present life as important. Type II is a faith-oriented, afterlife centered type. This is a group whose essence of spiritual health is religious devotion like faith in god and the people of this group do not sympathize with the oriental world view. Type III is an oriental, value-sharing type. This is a group with an oriental world view and the people of this group stress importance in sharing values with communities or others. Conclusion: These results not only become the basis for understanding the concept of spiritual health among Koreans, but also suggest the necessity of comprehensive education for spiritual health promotion.

  • Increased consensus among gerontologists exist on the need to pay greater attention to the reciprocal relationship between the social and spatial in order to understand the construction of aged identity and everyday lives of old people. With urbanization, spaces are increasingly age-graded and as a consequence, urban elders are socially isolated from the community. In this study, we examine the social interaction patterns in various places specifically designated for the elderly, such as the Senior Center, Senior Welfare Center, and Hall for the Aged in Seoul. Main purpose of this study is to understand everyday life experiences of space the elderly people residing in the city go through. Data were gathered through qualitative, case study method. Results show that such spaces were important sites for social interaction for urban elderly who lacked social spaces after retirement and active parenting role. Also, it was shown that each place presents different contexts for social interactions and certain components of social class differences existed. Heterogeneity within the participants of each place was also observed. Quite strong stereotypes about certain places were also observed among the urban elders. Based on these results, importance of developing a 'community perspective' in the study of old age is discussed.

  • Recently, Korean shipbuilding industry is keeping up the position of world wide No. 1 in world shipbuilding market share. It is caused by endless efforts to develope new technologies and methods and fast development of IT technologies in Korea, to raise up its productivities and efficiency in shipbuilding industry with many kinds of optimizing methods including genetic algorithm or artificial life algorithm... etc. In this paper, we have suggested the artificial life algorithm with relay search micro genetic algorithm. and we have improved a defect of simple genetic algorithm for its slow convergence speed and added a variety of solution candidates with applying relay search simple genetic algorithm. Finally, we have developed intelligent agent system for ship CAE modeling. We have tried to offer some conveniences a ship engineer for repeated ship CAE modeling by changing ship design repeatedly and to increase its accuracy of a ship model with it.

  • Recently major developed countries such as U.S. and EU selected u-health as future growth engine industry, and concentrated their capabilities. Major companies all around the world entered this u-health business, too. Most of the research in this field have confined their research focus on the elementary technologies for infrastructure building. This research systematically investigates u-health business models with various objectives in various sub-fields. For this purpose, the value chain of u-health industry is analyzed, and then various business model cases are explored all around the world. Finally, the future changes possible to occur in the life insurance industries are analyzed.

  • Wheat is the most abundant crop in the world, accounting for one third of the world's population diet. In Ukraine, wheat is in fact, in addition to its nutritional value, a national symbol of the state. Therefore, the main thesis on the development of modern plant growing in Ukraine is the reduction of costs and the introduction of innovative technologies. The quality of grain and seed depends on many factors, namely: agro-climatic conditions, sowing condition of the seed material, quality characteristics of the soil, yielding properties of seeds, pre-sowing seed treatment. etc. For this purpose, the photosynthesis and intensity of photosynthesis need to be limited to the width of the leaf and the height of the leaves by a smaller cut of the stem. It is extremely important to ensure that the head and side pagons of wheat are in good condition. All parameters are often secured by the technology of grain preparation before delivery. Prior to this technology, it is possible to introduce processing of the material in the form for the development of the material. This article presents the effectiveness of the use of infrared irradiation for the pre-sowing treatment of winter wheat seeds in Sekobra Research, Germany.

  • The Princess Bari, an epic song passed down orally among the korean shamans, describes the process of its heroine's becoming a shaman. The life of a shaman coincides with the image of Mother Goddess that created human beings in that her role was to connect the life here and hereafter in Korea. Princess Bari, an abandoned daughter, experiences the world of death, sacrifices herself completely for her parents, devotes to her husband and gives birth to seven sons. She is a Mother Goddess who embraces fecundity and fertility, creation and destruction, and life and death. Furthermore, she is a "warm-hearted Mother Goddess" who takes the deceased to their last journey with maternal care. The number "seven", known to be a very significant number in human lives and the world after death, symbolizes how princess Bari had to be born as the seventh girl of her parents, not as the fifth or the sixth.

  • The Torajan people who started to receive increased attention from the 1990 are one of the many ethnic groups of Indonesia. This paper intends to examine Torajan Ceremonies practied today in the modern world, driven by the Torajan people's age-old perspective of life and death (and the world after) that comes from their background on traditional lifestyle and (animated) folk religion/belief. It focuses on the ceremonial Dances, which is one of the most important element in Torajan Ceremonies, and gain deeper insight through its costumes and ornaments which traditionally revealed the social status of hosts and performers. In ceremony, the most important division is the classification of ritual into Aluk rampe matallo(life facing ritual ) and Aluk rampe matampu? death ritual). So Traditional Toraja dances may be classified into two genres: life related ritual dances and death ritual dances. Especially the funeral ceremonies in Toraja has been rather more famous on its spectacle aspect to outsiders however its relationships to the broader theme of Torajan Ceremonies and ceremonial dances are very less known and sources on this topic are also very scarce. Fortunately, I was able to witness one of such an ritual event. I did see one kind of the funeral rituals which is the most dramatic and symbolically rich performances in Toraja. Here, a brief account of its will highlight some dimension of ceremony, personfood, and potency in Torajan thought and action.
