  • Different kinds of information are used when solving tasks that arise in the life cycle of an applied knowledge based system (KBS). Many of these tasks are still under investigation. Their solving methods are often researched independently of each other due to complexity of the tasks. As a result, systems that realize these methods turn out to be incompatible and therefore could not be used together in the lifecycle of a KBS. The following problem arises here: how to support the full life cycle of a KBS. This paper introduces a class of computer knowledge banks that are intended to support the full life cycle of KBSs. Primary tasks that arise in the full life cycle of a KBS are analyzed. The architecture of a knowledge bank of the introduced class is presented, including an Information Content, a Shell of the Information Content and a Software Content. General requirements on these components are formulated on the basis of the analysis. These requirements depend on the current state of understanding in the life cycle of KBSs.

  • Recently, social technologies have been created to solve problems from businesses for the establishment of generational solidarity ecosystem in terms of employment, residential space, network and social capital, age, cognitive and environmental aspects. This is senior-friendly healthcare business system aimed at meeting the senior needs for health life to enjoy active consumption culture life even after retirement, becoming a catalyst for minimizing generational conflicts, preventing the cognitive and physical deterioration of seniority in the areas of life healthcare, fitness and well-aging, and expanding into systems necessary for seniority self-reliance. We would like to draw up the development and requirements of the concept of the service platform for the study of collective characteristics for generation solidarity with senior class and the establishment of a customized senior health life system for generation solidarity. This system is characterized by a platform that can prevent the decline of seniors' cognitive and physical functions and enhance emotional stability. It is significant in providing feedback on the risk perception index, fall index, and prevention training index information to the child through the analysis and extraction of the senior health index for risk perception, fall probability, and fall prevention.

  • This research is designed to study the residence environment of the elderly residing in three different types of residence - the local community, silver towns and nursing homes and compare their level of social support and life satisfaction of the residents. The subjects of the study was those aged 65 and older who live single and couple 68 residing in the local community, 32 in silver town and 32 in nursing homes. The result of analysis is as follows; 1) the residence environment is different in the three types of residence in terms of number of children, living with a spouse, subjective economic status, and participation in group activities; 2) as for social support, emotional support is the highest among the elderly residing in the local community and declines among those in silver town and the lowest in nursing homes, which suggests that the local community still maintain the support system for the elderly, however it declines in silver town and drop further in nursing homes. But in terms of instrumental support, there is no meaningful difference in the three types of residence. The result shows that the elderly residing in nursing homes are supported by systematic medical and residence service which make up for instrumental support Similar to those in the local community and silver town; 3) life satisfaction is the highest among those residing in nursing homes, however there was little meaningful difference. The result means quality of living is similar among three different types of residence. What is interesting is those living in nursing homes has similar level of life satisfaction despite their lowest emotional support.

  • In this paper, the effects of shaft and bearing flexibilities are investigated for the accurate modeling of a shaft-bearing system supported by ball bearings. Generally, rolling bearings are modeled by simple rigid pin-joint in the mechanical design. However, they can no longer be modeled by ideal boundary conditions in the advanced applications because the rigid pin-joint model cannot satisfy the current trends of mechanical design decreasing mass and reducing volume. Consequently the flexible support model of ball bearing is investigated using the static analysis module developed by A .B. Jones and T. A. Harris. A simple two-bearing system, supported by two deep groove ball bearings and radially loaded on the shaft midway between the bearings, is utilized to validate the coupled model of shaft-bearing system. Numerical computations using the model indicate that the shaft span length, locating/floating bearing arrangements and applied bearing size are significant factors in determining the mechanical behaviors. The flexible support model of ball bearing can be escaped to over-estimate in the bearing fatigue life. The proposed simple design formulation obtained by numerical simulations can approximately predict a rate of bearing life reduction as a function of shaft span length/shaft diameter (L/d).

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a series of life-saving actions that improve the chances of survival, following cardiac arrest. Successful resuscitation, following cardiac arrest, requires an integrated set of coordinated actions represented by the links in the Chain of Survival. The links include the following: immediate recognition of cardiac arrest and activation of the emergency response system, early CPR with an emphasis on chest compressions, rapid defibrillation, effective advanced life support, and integrated post-cardiac arrest care. The newest development in the CPR guideline is a change in the basic life support sequence of steps from "A-B-C" (Airway, Breathing, Chest compressions) to "C-A-B" (Chest compressions, Airway, Breathing) for adults. Also, "Hands-Only (compression only) CPR" is emphasized for the untrained lay rescuer. On the basis of the strength of the available evidence, there was unanimous support for continuous emphasis on high-quality CPR with compressions of adequate rate and depth, which allows for complete chest recoil, minimizing interruptions in chest compressions and avoiding excessive ventilation. High-quality CPR is the cornerstone of a system of care that can optimize outcomes beyond return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). There is an increased emphasis on physiologic monitoring to optimize CPR quality, and to detect ROSC. A comprehensive, structured, integrated, multidisciplinary system of care should be implemented in a consistent manner for the treatment of post-cardiac arrest care patients. The return to a prior quality and functional state of health is the ultimate goal of a resuscitation system of care.
