직장인의 스트레스와 사회적 지지의 상관성에 관한 연구 (Social support and phychosocial distress among white-collar workers)

  • The effects and roles of social support and stressors (stressful life events and chronic strains) on psychosocial distress were examined in a model with data from a sample of the white-collar workers (N=416) in Korea. The findings of this study present that mean levels of psychosocial distress were higher in the female, youth, unmarried and divorced, and low economic status (monthly income). The analysis also shows that, as expected, stressful life and chronic strains as stressors are positively related to occurrence of psychosocial distress, and social support is negatively related to psychosocial distress. Further, the contribution of social support to predicting psychosocial distress is greater in magnitude than that of stressful events, chronic strains, and seciodemographic variables. There is no evidence that social support buffers the impacts of stressors on psychosocial distress, rather social support takes a role of mai or direct effects on psychosocial distress. Therefore, the strength of the social support is an important and meaningful strategy to prevent from stress and mental, physical illness.

Safety of low-dose anticoagulation in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation using the Permanent Life Support System: a retrospective observational study

  • Background: Bleeding and thrombosis are major complications associated with high mortality in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) management. Anticoagulant therapy should be adequate to reduce thrombosis. However, related studies are limited. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed all patients supported with ECMO at a single institution between January 2014 and July 2022 and included those on all types of ECMO using the Permanent Life Support System. Patients were classified into two groups according to their measured mean activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) during ECMO management: a high-anticoagulation (AC) group (aPTT, ≥55 seconds; n=52) and a low-AC group (aPTT, <55 seconds; n=79). The primary outcome was thrombotic or bleeding events during ECMO. Results: We identified 10 patients with bleeding; significantly more of these patients were in the high-AC group (n=8) than in the low-AC group (15.4% vs. 2.5%, p=0.01). However, thrombus events and oxygenator change-free times were not significantly different between the two groups. Four patients in the high-AC group died of bleeding complications (brain hemorrhage, two; hemopericardium, one; and gastrointestinal bleeding, one). One patient in the low-AC group developed a thrombus and died of ECMO dysfunction due to circuit thrombosis. Conclusion: Heparin did not significantly improve thrombotic outcomes. However, maintaining an aPTT of ≥55 seconds was a significant risk factor for bleeding events, especially those associated with mortality.

  • An X-event is an event that is difficult to predict and unlikely to occur, but if it occurs, it has a very large ripple effect, such as loss of life, property, territory, and emotional turmoil. Extreme events are unlikely to occur, but they can happen someday, and if they do, they have a great impact on society as a whole, so they must be prepared to minimize the impact and impact. For this purpose, we collected opinions from low-level experts at the Korea Army Research Center for Future & Innovation and the Army College on extreme events that can trigger the near future (10 years) in the field of high-tech science and technology, which is currently developing rapidly after the 4th Industrial Revolution. The researchers intend to synthesize and analyze this data to derive implications and provide a response direction to alleviate the ultra-uncertainty of extreme events and provide a cornerstone for crisis management strategies for the occurrence of serial and simultaneous extreme events.

Endogenous retinoic acid mediates the early events in salamander limb regeneration

  • Urodeles including newt and salamander have remarkable regenerative capacity during the postembryonic life span. Some of the unique features are the formation of the well-developed wound epidermis and the active dedifferentiation process in the early phase of regeneration. These are regarded as key events for the successful regeneration since no further regenerative activity is possible without them. In this study, we investigated the role of retinoic acid (RA) in salamander limb regeneration by blocking RA synthesis using disulfiram, an inhibitor of aldehyde dehydrogenase that oxidizes retinal to RA. Disulfiram treatment resulted in delaying the limb regeneration processes via inhibition of wound epidermis formation and dedifferentiation process. When RA was administered after disulfiram treatment, the inhibitory effect of disulfiram was rescued. In addition, disulfiram treatment after the dedifferentiation stage resulted in the mild retardation of limb regeneration, suggesting that RA might also be involved in the blastema outgrowth. Furthermore, salamander MMP-9 gene expression was also inhibited by disulfiram treatment. Collectively, our findings indicate that endogenous RA may play an important role(s) in the early phase of limb regeneration by regulating the expression of molecules responsible for the modification of intracellular and extracellular environment during salamander limb regeneration.

Survey of Awareness and Concept of Insects in Korea

  • To investigate the degree of individuals' concept and awareness of insects, a survey study was conducted with students and adults living in Korea. The misconception rate for insects was about 50% for both students and adults, but it was lower for students and people who had experienced insect-related events than for adults and those who had not. The highest misconception rate was obtained in answer to a question about the basic structure of an insect. Most people had a high awareness of insects. Significant differences and correlations for the awareness of insects were found between students and adults, men and women, people who had experienced insect-related events and those who had not. The experience of an insect-related event most influenced awareness of insects. These results suggest that increasing people's interest in insects and utilizing insects in treatment situations may be beneficial for the field of mental healthcare.

원형탈모증 환자의 생활 사건 스트레스, 대처방식, A형 행동 패턴에 관한 연구 (The Study of Life Event Stress, Coping Strategy, and Type A Behavior Pattern of Alopecia Areata Patients - Comparison with Fungal Infection Patients -)

  • 연구목적 : 스트레스가 밀접하게 관련된 원형탈모증 환자들이 경험하는 생활사건, 이와 관련된 스트레스의 양, 이에 대한 대처방식 및 환자의 성격유형을 알아보아 이들 요소가 질병의 발병과 악화에 어떤 영향을 주는 지를 비교 분석하여 스트레스와 원형탈모증과의 관련성을 평가하고자 하였다. 방법 : 연구 대상은 피부과 외래를 방문한 원형탈모증 환자 43명과 대조군으로 피부진균감염증 환자 36명으로 하였다. 평가 도구로는 생활사건척도(Scale of Life Events), 대처방식척도(Coping Style Checklist)와 Eysenck A-유형성격검사로 세 가지의 설문조사를 실시하였다. 자료 분석은 연령을 보정한 공분산분석(analysis of covariance)을 적용하였다. 결과 : 원형탈모증군에서 생활 사건 수와 생활 사건의 총합이 유의하게 높았으나 대처 방식과 Eysenck A-유형성격에서는 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 결론 : 생활 사건에 대한 스트레스 양은 원형탈모증 환자군이 대조군에 비해 유의미하게 높은 수치를 보였고 이는 스트레스가 원형탈모증 발생에 기여한다는 기존의 연구들과 일치하는 소견이다. 후 스트레스와 원형탈모증과 보다 직접적인 연관 관계를 명확히 규명하여 궁극적으로 임상적으로 응용이 되어야 한다고 생각한다.

간호대학생의 건강행위 예측모형 (Structural Equation Model for the Health Behaviors of University Nursing Students in Korea)

  • Purpose: Structural equation model was analysed to explore the determinants of health behaviors of university nursing students in Korea. Study subjects: Four hundreds seventy eight university nursing students were selected by random cluster sampling from five universities located in the middle area of Korea. Data collection: The data were collected by questionnaires about demographic characteristics, stressful life events, perceived social support, perceived health status and health behaviors. Results: 1. Living with(out) family did not show direct effect on health behaviors. 2. Stressful life events and social support showed indirect effect on health behaviors via perceived health status; higher score of stressful life events predicted negative health behaviors. 3. The higher score of perceived health status predicted positive health behaviors. Recommendation: To improve the health behavior of nursing student, the program for positive perceived health status is necessary, which includes the social support and stressful life event control program. Each nursing school should be encouraged to develop the program for increasing positive perceived health status. It would be more effective to develop health program separately according to the demographic or social characteristics of the students. And following studies could be suggested to identify and promote the validity and reliability of perceived health status and health behaviors measurements.

초기 성인기 우울증에 대한 유전적, 환경적 요인의 영향 (Effects of Genetic and Environmental Factors on the Depression in Early Adulthood)

  • 우울 장애는 유전적 요인과 함께 환경적 요인이 복합적으로 작용하는 정신 장애이다. 본 연구에서는 세로토닌 체계와 연관된 유전적 요인과 생활사건과 같은 환경적 요인이 초기 성인기 우울 장애 발현에 미치는 영향을 조사함으로써 우울 장애의 원인론에 있어 유전자${\times}$환경 상호작용을 설명할 수 있는 자료를 제시하고자 하였다. 534명의 대학 신입생을 종적으로 추적 조사하여 생활사건 빈도와 중요도, 우울 척도와 불안 척도를 조사하였으며 전화 면담을 통해 DSM-IV 우울 장애 여부를 확인하였다. 최종적으로 150명이 연구에 포함되었으며 이전 연구로 확인된 TPH1 유전형과 함께 보관되어 있던 대상군의 DNA를 이용하여 SNaPshot$^{TM}$ 방식으로 TPH2, 5HTR2A 유전자를 추가 분석하였다. 유전자 정보와 생활사건 특성이 우울 증상에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 로지스틱 회귀 분석과 상관 분석, 카이 자승 분석을 사용하였다. TPH1 유전형 중 C 대립 유전자가 존재하지 않는 집단과 달리 C 대립 유전자가 존재하는 집단에서는 생활사건 빈도가 우울 장애 유발에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 이러한 영향은 다른 대립 유전자나 유전형을 보이는 집단에서는 관찰되지 않았다. 본 연구의 결과는 TPH1 유전형은 생활사건 이후 우울 장애 발생의 유의미한 예측 요인임을 시사한다. 이는 우울 장애의 유전${\times}$환경 상호작용에 TPH1 유전자가 작용하고 있음을 제시한다.

Scavenging Properties of Atmospheric Carbon by Precipitation

  • In order to investigate the scavenging property of airborne carbonaceous particles by precipitations, rainwater, snow sample, and total suspended particulate matter (TSP) were collected at a heavily industrialized urban site. Elemental carbon (EC) contents of both rainwater and snow water were deter-mined using elemental analysis system. EC concentrations in rain samples varied from 33.6 to 166.6 $\mu\textrm{g}$ L$^{-1}$ with an average 47.2 $\mu\textrm{g}$ L$^{-1}$ . On the other hand, those of snow samples in three times snow events were ranged from 122.4 to 293.3 $\mu\textrm{g}$ L$^{-1}$ . As might be expected, EC showed the significantly high scavenging rate at the initial rainfall. The average total carbon (TC) scavenging rate by washout mechanisms was 57.6% for five rainfall events. The scavenging rate of EC gradually increased in proportion to the increasing rainfall intensity and rainfall amount.
