AASHTO86 접착식 콘크리트 덧씌우기 설계법의 타당성 연구 (Feasibility Study of AASHTO86 Design Method for Bonded Concrete Overlay)

  • PURPOSES : This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of AASHTO86 design method for Bonded Concrete Overlay. METHODS : The Feasibility of AASHTO86 design method for Bonded Concrete Overlay is investigated based on the following study : i) Sensitivity analysis of designed service life of Bonded Concrete Overlay by major design input for AASHTO86 guide. ii) Comparison of actual Bonded Concrete Overlay life and predicted Bonded Concrete Overlay life by AASHTO86. iii) Finding the stress component influence the potential distress of Bonded Concrete Overlay based on 3-d FEM analysis. iv) Exploring the limitation of AASHTO86 in the aspect of design input. RESULTS : Sensitivity analysis showed that the condition of existing pavement significantly on the Bonded Concrete Overlay life. Also the overlay thickness affect the Bonded Concrete Overlay life. The comparison of actual Bonded Concrete Overlay life and predicted Bonded Concrete Overlay life showed relatively good agreement when the early distress sections are excluded in comparison. Bonding stress occurred at the interface may be larger than the bond strength used in the specification of Bonded Concrete Overlay construction. CONCLUSIONS : Bonded Concrete Overlay life predicted by the AASHTO86 may not be reliable. Number of points to improve the reliability in the design of Bonded Concrete Overlay are suggested in this study.

  • Understanding the consumer changed life styles are integrated, mutual complement for user's worth and consciousness, the life of consumption, etc. Recently, Apartment Model House has built for distribute to Apartment house When they enter the units after 2 or 3 years. So, Interior designer make an inference from the changed life styles. But, We don't have enough information to trace the design trend about residential space design. Design database is correspond with interior space and structured entity relationship. There are three parts in this Database, Type, Elements and Relation information. Type are composed size, ages, style, and space, Elements are materials and space elements. Relation information are publishing, designer, exhibition, construction company, remodeling, Intoner design and User favorite styles are the development in web environment. This research supplies interior design information for Web environment and trend analysis supports collaboration with development of interior design information database.

  • This study proposes the practical design elements of sustainable fashion by understanding the values of the MZ generation and analyzing the design characteristics that can extend the life of clothing. The theoretical concept of sustainable fashion through previous studies was reviewed and in-depth interviews were conducted with the MZ generation on "design characteristics of clothes that they have actually used for a long time." The result was drawn by approaching the constant comparison method through the qualitative methodology. As a result of the study, the design characteristics of clothes that can be worn for a long time are as follows. First, simple design pursues simplicity that is not excessive to the essential characteristics of clothes. Second, sturdy material is durable and not easily damaged. The clothing storage method and laundry method were also factors that could extend the life of the garment. Third, emotional design is a design that fits well with your mood and body type and gives a special meaning to your emotions. This study is meaningful in suggesting elements necessary for extending the life cycle of clothing and providing basic data that can be applied to the practical design steps of the fashion industry.

  • This paper shows the optimum design of the fluid engine mount. The design has been modified by trial and error because there is many design parameters that can be varied in order to obtain resonant and notch frequencies, and notch depth. It seems to be a great application for optimal design for the mount. Many combinations of parameters are possible to give us the desired resonant and notch frequencies, but the question is which combination provides the lowest resonant peak and notch depth\ulcorner In this study, the enhanced artificial life algorithm is applied to get the desired notch frequency of a fluid mount and minimize transmissibility at the notch frequency. The present hybrid algorithm is the synthesis of an artificial life algorithm with the random tabu (R-tabu) search method. The hybrid algorithm has some advantages, which is not only faster than the conventional artificial life algorithm, but also gives a more accurate solution. In addition, this algorithm can find all global optimum solutions. The results show that the performance of a conventional engine mount can be improved significantly compared with the optimized mount.

  • Recently Life Cycle Cost Analysis for civil infrastructures such as pavements, bridges, and dams has been emphasized However, so far, there are few systems available for life cycle cost analysis of bridges at design stage. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to develop a user-friendly life-cycle cost analysis system for LCC-effective optimal design decision making at design stage. The program is based on the proposed LCC model, formulation, analysis modules and systematic procedure that suit Korean construction conditions. It is expected that the developed system can be effectively utilized for more LCC-effective design of bridges. It is applied to an actual bridge design project in order to demonstrate its effectiveness and applicability.

  • The present research deals with structural analysis and optimal design of the heating drum of a hot-rolling press for medium density fiberboard. Stress concentration in the journal of the heating drum is analyzed by the submodel technique of the finite element method. The fatigue life under operating conditions is analyzed and evaluated by the stress-life theory. Shape optimal design problems, to minimize the maximum stress occurring in the journal, are formulated and shape parameters of the corner fillets of the journal are defined as the design variables. The problems are solved by the numerical optimization method and optimal shapes are found. The optimal designs are shown to be reliable in terms of the maximum stress and the fatigue life.

MEPDG를 이용한 아스팔트/연속철근 콘크리트 복합포장 간편 설계 (Simple AC/CRC Composite Pavement Design Using MEPDG)

  • PURPOSES : Analysis and design of asphalt concrete (AC) and continuously reinforced concrete (CRC) composite pavements. METHODS : In this study, the service life of the AC/CRC composite pavements was determined based on the probabilistic method in the mechanistic-empirical pavement design guide(MEPDG). Typical pavement design was provided with respect to heavy truck traffic volume of highways. RESULTS : The service life of the composite pavements based on IRI was shorter than that based on rutting at lower traffic volume, but this trend was switched at higher traffic volume. CONCLUSIONS : It is concluded that the main distress affecting the service life of the composite pavements was longitudinal roughness and rutting. Roughness became lower, but rut depth became greater as the stiffness of the CRC increased.

  • RAM (Reliability, Availability and Maintenance) has been applied to design and analysis tools which affects system's operational sustainability and its life cycle cost as RAM-c(2009 DoD). RAM-c plays also an important role to guarantee the system engineering for mission assurance. Reliability is highly related to the probability of system failure. Availability means mission capability or the condition of ready to mission. Maintenance includes both the repair to recover the system in the event of failure/unexpected breakdown and proactive maintenance to prolong the design service life of the system or machinery. It is the purpose that this paper is to analyze and conclude the objective service life of UAV. The more UAV is operated, the less the level of its reliability becomes. Repairing failures and supplying spare parts on time, system reliability could be improved up until the time over target. Applying statistical Weibull distributions, this paper suggests the analysis of the design service life and economic life of UAV based on RAM-c with operational data.

파워스티어링 오일펌프용 풀리의 피로수명을 고려한 형상최적화 (Shape Optimization Considering Fatigue Life of Pulley in Power-Steering Pulley)

  • The pulley is one of core mechanical elements in the power steering system for vehicles. The pulley operates under both the compressive loading and the torque. Therefore, to assure the safety of the power steering system, it is very important to investigate the durability and the optimization of the pulley. In this study, the applied stress distribution of the pulley under high tension and torsion loads was obtained by using finite element analysis. Based on these results the fatigue life of the pulley with the variation of the fatigue strength was evaluated by a durability analysis simulator. The results at 50% and 1% for the failure probability were compared with respect to the fatigue life. In addition to the optimum design for the fatigue life is obtained by the response surface method. The response function utilizes the function of the life and weight factors. Within range for design life condition the minimization of the weight, one of the formulation, is obtained by the optimal design. Moreover the optimum design by considering its durability and validity is verified by the durability test.
