Prediction on Busan's Gross Product and Employment of Major Industry with Logistic Regression and Machine Learning Model (로지스틱 회귀모형과 머신러닝 모형을 활용한 주요산업의 부산 지역총생산 및 고용 효과 예측)

  • This paper aims to predict Busan's regional product and employment using the logistic regression models and machine learning models. The following are the main findings of the empirical analysis. First, the OLS regression model shows that the main industries such as electricity and electronics, machine and transport, and finance and insurance affect the Busan's income positively. Second, the binomial logistic regression models show that the Busan's strategic industries such as the future transport machinery, life-care, and smart marine industries contribute on the Busan's income in large order. Third, the multinomial logistic regression models show that the Korea's main industries such as the precise machinery, transport equipment, and machinery influence the Busan's economy positively. And Korea's exports and the depreciation can affect Busan's economy more positively at the higher employment level. Fourth, the voting ensemble model show the higher predictive power than artificial neural network model and support vector machine models. Furthermore, the gradient boosting model and the random forest show the higher predictive power than the voting model in large order.

A study on the occupational fraud symptoms and detection methods for managing human element vulnerability in financial industry security (금융산업보안상 인적보안 취약요소인 업무부정의 발생징후와 적발방법에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to contribute to the early detection of occupational fraud in the Korean financial industry by analyzing fraud symptoms. Firstly, the definition, cause of occupational fraud, and fraud symptoms were discussed through literature review. Secondly, survey data were collected from the employees of the financial industry such as bank, insurance, and securities companies to conduct statistical analysis. The result of analysis showed that the symptoms of 'excessive stock investment' and 'unsettled life style' were statistically significant predictors of fraud detection experience. Plus, 'tips and complaints' were the most frequent method for detecting occupational fraud in the Korean financial industry. The financial institutions can minimize the loss of occupational fraud by early detection through educating their employees and vendors on these important symptoms of occupational fraud.

Design of Contact Scheduling System(CSS) for Customer Retention (고객유지를 위한 접촉스케줄링시스템의 설계)

  • Customer retention is one of the major issues in life insurance industry, in which competition is increasingly fierce. There are many things for the life insurers to do many things to retain the customers. One of those things is to make sure to keep in touch with all customers. When an insurance-planner resigned, his/her customers must be taken care of by some planner-assistants. This article outlines the design of Contact Scheduling System (CSS) that supports planner-assistants for contacting the customers. Planner-assistants are unable to share the resigned insurance-planner's experience and knowledge regarding the customer relationship management. The CSS developed by employing both Classification And Regression Tree (CART) technique and Sequential Pattern Mining (SPM) technique has a two-stage process. In the first stage, it segments the customers into eight groups by CART model. Then it generates contact scheduling information consisting of contact-purpose, contact-interval and contact-channel, according to the segment's typical contact pattern. Contact-purpose is derived by schedule-driven, event-driven, or business-rule-driven. Schedule-driven contact is determined by SPM model. In the operation of CSS in a realistic situation, it shows a practicality in supporting planner-assistants to keep in touch with the customers efficiently and effectively.

Convergence Study on Koreans' Recognition of Funeral Culture Industry and Development Plan (한국인의 장례문화산업 인식과 개발 방안에 대한 융합 연구)

  • This study aims to present a plan to develop the funeral culture industry based on the results of a survey on the contents of funeral culture awareness, funeral culture industry development, and funeral culture education according to age groups. The survey in this study was researched by Gallup Korea, and the survey method was an online research using a structured questionnaire. The survey was conducted twice, from February 5, 2021 to February 8, 2021, and from February 18, 2021 to February 19, 2021. The effective subjects are 316, and the sampling method is allocated by sex and age. As a result of the study, cremation was preferred by all age groups, and the places where cremated remains were placed were high in the natural burials and ossuary hall. Although there are some differences by age groups, it was surveyed that generally, the elderly than the younger were less reluctant to sign up for condolence products, funerals in life, farewell trips, purchase farewell travel products, funeral insurance, and counsel with death-related experts. The results of this study are expected to contribute to interdisciplinary convergence research on the recognition and development of the funeral culture industry.

  • Scientific and technological progress is also fundamental to the evolving merchant shipping industry, both in terms of the size and speed of modern ships and in the level of their technical capabilities. While the freight performance of ships is growing, the number of crew on board is steadily decreasing, as more work processes are being automated through the implementation of information technologies, including ship management systems. Although there have been repeated appeals from international maritime organizations to focus on building effective maritime security defenses against cyber attacks, the problems have remained unresolved. Owners of shipping companies do not disclose information about cyberattack attempts or incidents against them due to fear of commercial losses or consequences, such as loss of image, customer and insurance claims, and investigations by independent international organizations and government agencies. Issues of cybersecurity of control systems in the world today have gained importance, due to the fact that existing threats concern not only the security of technical means and devices, but also issues of environmental safety and safety of life at sea. The article examines the implementation of cyber risk management in the shipping industry, providing recommendations for the safe ship operation and its systems in order to improve vulnerability to external threats related to cyberattacks, and to ensure the safety and security of such a technical object as a seagoing ship.

Educational Differences in Health Care Utilization in the Last Year of Life among South Korean Cancer Patients (교육수준별 2004년 암 사망자의 사망 전 1년간 의료이용의 차이와 정책적 함의)

  • Objectives : There have been few studies examining the differences in health care utilization across social classes during the last year of life. Therefore, in this study we analyzed the quantitative and qualitative differences in health care utilization among cancer patients across educational classes in their last year of life, and derived from it implications for policy. Methods : To evaluate health care utilization by cancer patients in the last year of life, Death certificate data from 2004 were merged with National Health Insurance data (n=60,088). In order to use educational level as a social class index, we selected the individuals aged 40 and over as study subjects (n=57,484). We analyzed the differences in the medical expenditures, admission days, and rates of admission experience across educational classes descriptively. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to evaluate the association between medical expenditures and independent variables such as sex, age, education class, site of death and type of cancer. Results : The upper educational class spent much more on medical expenditures in the last one year of life, particularly during the last month of life, than the lower educational class did. The ratio of monthly medical expenditures per capita between the college class and no education class was 2.5 in the last 6-12 months of life, but the ratio was 1.6 in the last 1 month. Also, the lower the educational class, the higher the proportion of medical expenditures during the last one month of life, compared to total medical expenditures in the last one year of life. The college educational class had a much higher rate of admission experiences in tertiary hospitals within Seoul than the other education classes did. Conclusions : This study shows that the lower educational classes had qualitative and quantitative disadvantages in utilizing health care services for cancer in the last year of life.

The Value of Reverse Mortgage Loans: Case Study of the Chinese Market

  • This study contributes to addressing the problem of an aging population by providing important information that determines feasible monthly payments for the clients of Chinese reverse mortgage products and by promoting the implementation of reverse mortgages in China. The variables used in this study include mean values obtained from time series data, of the rate of increase of housing prices, and the probability value, interest rate, and mortality rate obtained through the geometric Brownian motion (GBM). For mortality rates, China Life Insurance female mortality rates (2000-2003) were used. This study aims to apply the main variables that affect reverse mortgage products in a monthly payment model based on Chinese financial market conditions, and determine loan values. In this study, Shanghai's reverse mortgage monthly payments, by age levels, were calculated through the loan-to-value (LTV) and payment (PMT) methods to evaluate the value of the reverse mortgages. Based on the optimal combination of the three factors of payment amount, loan interest rates, and the level of acceptance of prices, efforts must be made to extract the best value for the elderly. Only in this way can the interests of both lenders and borrowers be protected, by increasing the market share and economies of scale of the reverse mortgage industry and effectively improving the living standards of the elderly.

The Influence of Individual Characteristics, Training Content and Manager Support on On-the-Job Training Effectiveness

  • The study examines the influence of individual characteristics, training content, and manager support on the effectiveness of on-the-job (OJT) training in the banking and finance industry. A simple random sampling technique was used to select the samples. Questionnaires were distributed to respondents in order to obtain the data. Using cross-sectional data obtained from 396 respondents in Bank A in Malaysia, the multiple regression results show that self-efficacy, motivation to learn, training content, and manager support have positive influence on OJT training effectiveness. Among all these factors, manager support is very highly correlated with OJT training effectiveness. The findings have given fruitful insight of the crucial roles of OJT training in the respective bank, particularly to bring forward the roles of systematic design and implementation of OJT training. This study is not only expanding knowledge in OJT and training, but offers managers practical insights in developing good OJT training program by considering employees need, capabilities, skills and job requirement. Furthermore, this study also provides a valuable framework in identifying the effectiveness of OJT training program for certain jobs. Further discussion of the research findings and its implications to theoretical knowledge of training and managers are promised at the end of the article.

  • Medical tourism is a newly-prevailing industry accompanied by the change of lifestyle to a health-seeking life in the 21st century, which not only attracts foreigners using high-end medical technologies and equipments but also linking recuperation and leisure and cultural activities to the tour. many chinese tourists enter seeking both medical and tourism purposes. However, since the system for medical tourism is not well supported and there is no medical insurance for Chinese people, it is necessary to link safe hospitals and guides for these Chinese people and to develop systems that will provide proper information to Chinese people. This paper will introduce and propose a medical tour service system which effectively links hospitals, chinese tourists and brokers.

  • Rrecently, companies have made great efforts to satisfy various needs and heightened expectations of customers, and the importance of customer center as customer contact department for customer relationship management is increasing. In the knowledge ecosystem, corporate customer centers are emerging as a new alternative to acquiring corporate competitiveness by increasing sales and increasing market share by improving marketing support activities and customer relationship management at customer contact points. As a result, the interest in the customer center has increased rapidly because it provides the opportunity to contact with the customer. In addition, in the era of the fourth industrial revolution, the customer center, which is a collection of information and communication technologies, has a big databased voice recognition technology to elaborate customer service, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction and contributing to marketing through continuous interaction with customers. Of course, we have the opportunity to transform into the frontline business intelligence front for customer knowledge. This study is a comparative case study on how the customer center of K Life Insurance that takes the lead in the customer center industry has successfully renewed and established their key information systems to improve customer services and reinforce marketing support competencies. Based on the above, this study will present factors affecting successful implementation and settlement of the customer service information systems of customer centers by independently analyzing two individual cases.
