This study compare and analyzes recent school library standards in advanced countries including Britain, United States and Japan. The examination is based on the changing process of standards and development of school library in the each countries. To Suggest the model of reasonable standard for the activation of school library in Korea, the study has identified the common elements ; staff, material, environments, management and cooperative system, and learning skill with curriculum of school library standards showed in the each of advanced countries.

This article is a spinoff of a doctoral study that was completed at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) in 2018 on provision of information services to persons with visual and physical impairments in public university libraries in Kenya. The article examined how ICTs such as internet, e-resources and e-databases, word processing, websites and more were being used in public university libraries to provide access to information by visually and physically impaired persons. Data were collected from the visually and physically impaired students, University Librarians, Systems librarians, staff from disability departments and library staff who provided services to visually and physically impaired persons. The findings revealed that the visually and physically impaired persons in most of the libraries could not access information owing to lack of the necessary assistive and adaptive technologies and weak institutional support and framework. The study recommend that the libraries improve assistive technology infrastructure, embrace new assistive technologies such as telepresence robots, virtual realities and more, and put in place enabling policies and capacity building programmes for library staff to enable them to provide services to persons with impairments.

본 연구는 도서관 불안과 성격 유형의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 49명의 대학 1학년생을 대상으로 도서관 불안(LAS)과 성격 유형(한국형 BFI)을 조사, 측정하였다. 도서관 불안은 2.57점이었고, 하위 영역별로는 기계적인 장벽, 정서적 장벽, 직원으로 인한 장벽, 도서관 지식에 대한 장벽, 도서관 안락함의 순으로 도서관 불안이 높았다. 성격 유형은 친화성이 3.65점으로 가장 높은 경향을 가지고 있었고, 다음으로 신경증, 외향성, 성실성, 개방성의 순서였다. 도서관 불안과 성격 유형의 상관관계 조사 결과, 신경증 성향이 높을수록 도서관 불안 수준도 높고, 특히, 도서관의 안락함 영역과 상관관계가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 개인성향이 도서관 불안에 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었고, 결과를 바탕으로 향후연구에서는 다른 개인성향 변인을 사용한 연구, 개인 맞춤형 도서관 불안 해소 프로그램 개발 연구, 도서관 불안의 측면 보다는 정보 불안의 측면에서 측정도구 개발 연구가 이루어져야 한다고 제언하였다.

The study examined information retrieval tools as predictors for information resources utilization, four research questions, and four hypotheses were made to guide the study. A descriptive survey was adopted for the study. Random sampling technique was used to select sample of 393 from a population of 557 academic staff registered in the University of Port Harcourt library. The questionnaire was adopted as a data collection instrument titled Information retrieval as predictors for information resources utilization (IRPIRUQ). Data were analyzed using both simple and multiple regression while analysis of variance (ANOVA) associate with regression was used for testing the hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level. The study revealed that information resources are under utilized as the OPAC and Online Databases are not easily accessed. Further findings showed that the academic staff made use of internet search engines more often than the OPAC and online databases. It was recommended among others that a new library software be installed in place of KOHA for wider connectivity and adequate distribution of software that will aid usage of the online databases and OPAC.

본 연구는 병원 내 도서관 이용자의 만족도를 제고시키고 향후 병원 내 도서관의 활성화 방안을 고찰하기 위해, 이용자와 비이용자를 대상으로 장서, 시설 및 환경, 직원, 서비스, 프로그램 등의 만족도 및 수요도를 조사하여, 이용자가 만족하는 도서관의 운영 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 그 결과, 병원 내 도서관 활성화 방안으로 첫째, 최신성을 갖춘 다양한 주제의 장서 수 확대가 필요하다. 둘째, 병원 내 도서관의 직원 수확대가 시급하며, 이와 함께 의학 전문 지식 기반 의사소통 능력 향상 및 이용자 요구에 대한 신속한 대응 능력이 필요하다. 셋째, 시설 및 환경으로 병원 내 도서관 규모 확대와 편의시설 확대가 필요하다. 넷째, 서비스 질 향상과 다양한 서비스 제공이 필요하며, 이용자 대상에 따라 전문가는 주제검색서비스, 의학관련 정보원 제공 서비스를, 일반인(환자 및 보호자 등) 건강정보서비스 등을 제공해야 한다. 마지막으로 프로그램 운영을 위한 인프라 확대와 대상의 다양화, 프로그램 지속성 등이 확보되어야 한다.

The study investigated the Integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to the Library and Information Science Curriculum: The Practicum in Library Schools in Rivers State. Descriptive survey design was used with a population 374 comprising 21 LIS educators and 353 Four Hundred Level Library and Information Science Students from University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Port Harcourt. Census sampling technique was used to select the LIS educators and purposive sampling technique was used to the select the Four Hundred Level LIS students. Questionnaire and checklist were used for data collection. 90% and 97% responses were found valid for analysis for LIS Educators and LIS students respectively. The study was analyzed using mean rating, standard deviation and simple percentage. The study revealed that ICT courses were integrated into LIS curriculum in Library schools in Rivers State but LIS educators lacked the ICT skills to teach ICT practicum consequently, the students were not properly taught ICT practicum. However, students had positive perception of ICT practicum. Notwithstanding, lack of ICT skills, poor policy implementation, lack of state-of-the-art infrastructure and nonchalant attitudes of staff towards the adoption of ICT constituted the challenges faced in the implementation of ICT practicum. The study therefore, recommended that the management of library schools in Rivers State should implement ICT practicum by hiring competent staff maybe from computers science department to teach the practicum for the interim. Subsequently, recruitment of librarians should include strictly ICT compliant.

정보화 시대에 공공도서관이 필수불가결한 기관으로 거듭나기 위해서는 새로운 정보의 생산을 적극 지원하기 위해, 경쟁력 회복과 정보격차의 해소를 지원하기 위해 지식과 정보를 제공하는 정보복지의 핵심기관의 역할을 수행해야 할 것이다. 하지만 현재 한국의 공공도서관은 그 수가 절대 부족하고, 장서도 부족하며, 인력활용이 비효율적이고, 제공하는 서비스도 영세하며, 도서관의 건축구조도 적합하지 않으므로 이러한 역할을 수행할 수 없다. 이 문제점들을 개선하기 위해서는 국가와 기업, 시민이 협력하여 공공도서관의 건립운동을 전개하여 절대수를 늘리며, 장서구입비도 대폭 확충하고, 다양한 서비스 프로그램도 개발하며, 사서는 이용자와 자료의 중개자로서의 전문적인 직무를 수행하도록 하여야 하며, 도서관은 도서관의 이념을 구현할 수 있도록 건축되어야 한다.

본 연구는 대학도서관 조직 구성원을 대상으로 갈등수준 지표를 선정하여 갈등수준을 측정하고, 갈등수준에 영향을 미치는 갈등요인을 밝혀 대학도서관의 갈등해소 방안을 마련하는 것이다. 이를 위해 사립대학교 24개 도서관 및 국공립대학교 12개 도서관 등 총 36개 대학도서관에 재직 중인 739명에게 설문지를 배포하여 515부를 회수하였으며, 이 중 512부를 조사 분석 대상으로 삼았다. 수집된 설문지는 SPSS 12.0(Statistical Package for Social Science 12.0)을 활용하여 통계 처리하였으며 빈도분석, 상관관계 분석, 단계적 회귀분석을 수행하였다. 이를 통해 본 연구에서 설정한 6개의 가설을 검증하였다.

Public library effectiveness is determined by a complexity of the internal and external environments of the library. The purpose of this article is to investigate community environments and library resources as determinants of the output measures of the 15 municipal libraries in Seoul and to cope with changes in the environments for the improvement of their performance. This study is based on the hypotheses that the library's output would be proportioned to the size of budget and library collection, and to the relationships between the characteristics of the library and of the community in which the library develops. The variables identified in this .study are population density, family size, institutions (social, cultural, financial and educational), presence of the mass media, size of service area, and economic level of the community. The output measures employed for analysis are: number of professional staff, expenditures, number of books in the collection, number of books added annually, total circulation, number of library visits, circullation per capita, library visits per capita, .and registration as a percentage of population. The recommendation made in this study is the innovation of the 15 libraries in organization.

본 연구는 대학도서관 조직문화를 이해하고 실제적인 관리전략으로 활용할 수 있도록 하기 위해 한국의 대학도서관을 대상으로 전체 대학도서관 조직문화를 파악하고 특성에 따른 조직문화의 차이를 비교분석하고자 하는 연구이다. 대학도서관에 근무하는 직원을 대상으로 이들이 인식하는 조직문화의 연구결과 대학도서관 조직문화는 다른 문화유형과 비교해서 위계질서문화에서 지나치게 높은 평균값을 가지고 있었으며 두 번째는 인간관계문화가 우세하였으며, 생산중심문화와 개방체계문화에서는 약한 가치를 가지고 있었다. 앞으로 한국의 대학도서관 조직문화를 연구하는 방법으로 양적 방법뿐 아니라 질적 방법도 고려되어야 할 것이며, 대학도서관 조직문화에 대한 정확한 이해는 신규직원의 선발, 부서 배치 혹은 직무순환시 근거자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이며, 아울러 환경의 변화에 적합한 전략을 계획할 수 있게 됨으로써 조직관리에 효율성을 가져올 수 있을 것이다.
