The directions of recent library construction and operation reflect people's changed lifestyle and suggest innovative spaces specialized on the basis of the local environment. Hence, as the goals of the operation of (tentatively named) Songdaeso Library to be constructed within the Hantangang River UNESCO Global Geopark, this study proposes 'acting as complex cultural facilities,' 'operating stay-type reading culture space which is a shrine for workcation,' and 'acting as the landmark of A-gun (郡, county).' And this study works out strategies for its operation, which includes 'securing the validity of the construction of (tentatively named) Songdaeso Library,' 'linking to library policy as the driving force behind its operation,' and 'demonstrating the necessity for the existence of the library arising from the operation of the geological specialized library through landscape architecture.' It also presents concomitant operating plans, which are categorized into plans for manpower, library books, services, and budget.

The opportunity provided for design method and strategy of community space for secondary school through the experience of public library and gallery, is the purpose of this paper. Community space is an important issue in school architecture as it seeks to revive the public area in educational building and to renew the open space as a multi-entertainment space. The latest works of school, however, which are evaluated as well reflected the reality of educational patterns, are still deficient in that communicational elements in school are underdeveloped and inadequate. The cases of this paper, which are grown up as entertainment library and multi-purpose cultural space such as Seattle Public Library, Sendai Mediatech, Tate Modem Gallery, and Kunsthaus, are suitable to offer the method of the creation of community space for school. This paper reviews an assessment of its success in community space for school architecture with multi-entertainment-purpose library and cultural space connected open space and concludes with the establishment of design method for future school; extraction of the factors contributing to development of community space in school and proposal of design method; implementation of school renewal with library and gallery plus open space for the creation of identity considering both of study and play.

In order to solve the problems of the digital library's Interoperability and integrated management, we analyzed core technologies for interoperability in digital library in terms of information creation, organization, service. And then we proposed information technology reference model that is composed of 7 scopes. The proposed scope included 1)Metadata Management, 2)Library Services, 3)Service Integration 4)Service Management, 5)Open Interface, 6)Network, 7)Architecture. Those results can be used as a framework for developing interoperable digital library system.

The Subject of this research is building integrated library to supported to CAAD of the A.E.C field that is oriented to the environment of integrated design. In this research, we design and implement a new library model as a solution of design-data sharing and multi-displaying that is on the rise among many problems in construction integration. We name this integrated library ACO(Actual Component Object) and using the ACO, we can share data without loss in the fields such as construction, estimation, structure. Together with this, the different expressions along each field provide the solution of sharing both graphic data and non-graphic data. This ACO is a newly conceptualized Library that is able to supply a composite structure to an architect(designer) through the internet-based ACO System. To the ACO System that supplies those ACO service, we introduce the concept of DBMS in design and design administrator, and we investigate the solutions that enable an architect to use this ACO directly on the Web.

Although social metadata has strengths in creating amount of user-contributed resource descriptions, its function is limited because of its non-systematic characteristics. This research proposed an alternative approach to semantic organization of social metadata. It analyzed the semantics of tags created in LibraryThing in order to provide bibliographic categories for describing information resources. Social information Architecture is adopted in generating the bibliographic categories so that social metadata framework can be constructed. This framework can provide the conceptual foundations for semantically organizing social metadata and is expected to be applied to the existing approaches to automatically organize social metadata.

Reconfigurable array architecture is recently attracting much attention. It is a flexible hardware architecture, which can dynamically change its configuration to execute various functions while maintainning high performance. However, pursuing flexibility and performance at the same time leads to complexity, thereby makes the mapping of applications a difficult process. There have been attempts to use compiler or high level synthesis techniques to solve the problem. In this paper, we propose yet another method, which uses libraries for the mapping to provide an abstracttion of the internal structure and at the same time to reduce the development time and efforts through the automated process. We have selected a JPEG decoder as an example to apply the proposed method. As a result, we obtained about 20% less performance compared to manual mapping but development time is dramatically reduced to less than 1%.

The Virtual Interface Architecture (VIA) is usually suggested as a new standard high-performance communication of the cluster systems. However the VIA specification aims for platform independence, the current Intel VI Provider Library (VIPL) design favors systems with Intel architecture processors running the Windows operating system (OS). Researching behavior of users in public library is very important processing and their activities can be judged with the regard of required inner spaces and related those functions. The subject of this study is to examine the organization of inner spaces in public library and to propose the prototype of space composition in public library on the future. Not only the relation of space program of each library but also the network among public libraries are not connected efficiently. That's why the public library is not used as local cultural place. Usually, the organization of inner spaces has not been recognized and approached satisfactorily. As the result of the above researching, the function of the culture facilities should be connected to the open study-room which now using just for study. It will make users to recognize and approach public library easily.

Due to an inability to accommodate for the rapidly increasing number of printed materials, Korean academic libraries are facing serious space shortage problems. Very few academic institutions have the funds to expand existing libraries or construct new facilities in order to accommodate the influx of printed materials. Despite not having the luxury to create new space, many establishments continue to implement the open access system. Seeing that such a system is only user friendly when used in a spacious facility, the maintenance of the open access system is unreasonable. Only few libraries consider the space efficient closed access system which helps to resolve storage space shortage. In the current state of the problem, improving the efficiency to which books are stored in existing storage areas within a library facility is the only appropriate solution. Enacting methods to improve physical space utilization within a fixed volume library facility will undoubtedly diminish the space shortage issue at hand. In this article, several space efficiency improvement approaches are discussed. Methods of book storage plan re-layout (floor, plan, ceiling, height, bookshelf design), book arrangement possibilities, and the reduction of the physical volume of reserved materials are each examined.
