  • The purpose of this study is to identify (1) the attitudes of seniors toward library digitalization, (2) factors that lead them to use digital information in libraries, and (3) factors that hinder or prevent them from using digital information in libraries. As a result of conducting 1:1 in-depth interviews with 20 senior users of the National Library of Korea, the majority of seniors had a favorable attitude toward library digitalization. 'Librarian' and 'vision and font size' were found to be the most important factors for seniors' use of digital information. These two factors are factors that enable the use of digital information, but they are also factors that prevent or hinder the use of digital information. In addition, factors for the use of digital information include 'characteristics of the content' and 'convenience', factors for non-use include 'attitude and psychological factors' and 'physical properties of books', and hindering factors include 'website usability issues'.

So based on the website, it is divided into 1) whether independent homepage exists, 2) service target, 3) books, 4) classification system, 5) manpower, 6) facilities (area, number of seats available), 7) equipment (pc, printer, copy machine, etc.), 8) services, and then analyzed. Consequently, as the ways to revitalize the medical libraries, firstly, it is necessary to establish legal standards and develop guidelines for the medical school library's books, sizes, librarians, etc. Secondly, establishing a cooperative community network between medical school libraries is necessary. Thirdly, policies such as support at the national level, specialization education of librarians, development of operational guidelines, and activation of inter-library networks are needed to revitalize the medical school libraries. • In light of the recent advancement in networking and information technology, the direct information request through website has increasingly proven to be the preferred means over visiting physical archives. Thus, the proper utilization of a communication tool capable of sufficiently capturing user feedback and requests is an absolute necessity. This paper examines the availability and utilization of alternative user participatory communication tools in government websites with particular focus on the archives in South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, and Japan. In assessing the use of alternative user participatory communication tools in these archives, we examined the availability of communication mediums other than the online forums, email, and telephone with particular focus on social media tools that may offer a degree of familiarity for the user. Our research indicates that the most frequently utilized social media tool is Facebook while the archive offering the greatest variety of alternative user participatory communication tools was the United States archive.

  • The availability and growth of the Internet offers users the opportunity to find information and data all over the world. The development of the WWW has made the Internet easier to use, both for finding information and for publishing it electronically. Because so much information is available, and because that information can appear to be fairly 'anonymous', It is necessary to develop skills to evaluate what you find. Every printed information resources you find has been evaluated in one way or another before you ever see it. But when you are using the WWW, none of this applies. There are no filters between you and Internet. In addition, the ease of constructing Web documents results in information of the widest range of quality, written by authors of the widest range of authority, available on an even playing field Excellent information resources reside along side the most dubious. This study discusses the criteria arid methods by which scholars and researchers in most fields evaluate print information, and shows how the same criteria and methods can be used to assess Internet Website document. This study applied seven criteria, that is essential Web document element, authorship, publishing body, point of view or bias, referral to other sources, verifiability and currency. All information, whether in print or by byte, needs to be evaluated by users for some objective criteria and methods mentioned above. If you find information that is 'too good to be true', it probably is. Never use information that you can't verity. Always remember that the best counterfeit looks the most like the real thing. Establishing and learning criteria and methods to filter information you find on the Internet is a good beginning for becoming a critical consumer of information in all forms.
