미래도서관에서의 소장(ownership)과 접근(access)의 문제 (Problems on ownership and access in future librarty)

  • The purpose of this paper is to study on ownership and access in future library. For this purpose, this is criticized about recognition regarding future library of Library and Information Science researchers in Korea. And, this is reviewed the present stages of collection development and a role of future books, future libraries and future librarians in Korea. The result of this study is known unrealistic reality analysis and forecast surrounding future library discourse and at the same time that following Western model is not fit for future library in Korea. This study is proposed resolving of problems to access based on physical collection in future library.

주제전문사서 양성을 위한 문헌정보학 교과과정 연구 (A Study on the Curriculums of Library and Information Science for Subject Specialist)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내 주제전문사서 양성을 위한 개선된 문헌정보학교육 및 교과과정 개선방안을 제안하였다. 이를 위해 국내 4개 대학교와 미국의 3개 대학교의 교과과정 및 미국도서관헙회(ALA: American Library Association), 도서관교육협회(ALISE : Association for Library and Information Science Education)와 기타 기관에서 정보전문가(information specialist)의 양성 과정을 비교$\cdot$분석하였다. 그 결과를 국내 대학의 문헌정보학과교육과정에 개설된 교과목과 수와 학점 수를 고려하여 미래지향적인 주제전문사서 양성프로그램 개발을 위한 자료로 활용하였다. 본 연구 결과는 대학교 교육과정에서 '주제전문사서' 양성을 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

문헌정보학 분야의 통계기법 사용에 관한 계량적 연구 (A quantitative analysis of the use of statistics in library and information science)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze quantitatively the use of statistics, especially inferential statistics, in library and information science. Thus this study compared the use of statistics in library and information science with it in social work and education. The results of this study are as follows: First, the result is that, when the proportions of articles in each of the three categories of use are compared, library and information science is deficient in the use of inferential statistics and unusually productive of articles in 'No Statistics' category and 'Descriptive Statistics Only' category. Second, ANOVA showed no significant difference in the means for number of articles with no statistics and for articles with descriptive statistics only, but did show a statistically significant difference for the means for number of articles with inferential statistics. That is, the use of inferential statistics in library and information science was very less than the other subject areas. Third, a comparison of the numbers of various inferential statistics for each of the three subject areas indicated that the differences were not significant. This fact means that the quality of inferential statistics used in library and information science was similar to the other subjects.

Ranganathan, Dewey, and Bong-Suk Park

  • This article investigated the lives and careers of three great librarians in India, USA, and Korea: S. R. Ranganathan, Melvil Dewey, and Bong-Suk Park, respectively. It also explored their influences and contributions. Their births and early years, and marriage; college years; commitment toward librarianship and careers; achievements in other areas; personalities; and commemorative activities, among others, were analyzed. Their contributions to librarianship and library community in the general theory of library science, professional education, classification and cataloging, library administration and management, and library associations and library movement were also investigated. Special focus was on Bong-Suk Park, with a special regard to his unrealized dream for the Korean library community as well as insufficient estimation related to him and his achievements.

한국문헌정보학 연구와 문화기술적 방법 (The library & information science research in Korea and ethnographic method)

  • This study aims at introducing 'ethnography' which is one of the most representative qualitative research methods into Library and Information Science research in Korea.. Ethnography, derived from anthropology, helps researchers to understand the whole and deep aspect of the research object. That is because the researcher puts himself into the life-world of the research object and observes it for a long time. Ethnography can be used as an alternative method to quantitative research methods. Until now, Library and Information Science research in Korea has used quantitative research methods in almost every case. From the 1980s so-called 'scientific methods' using hypotheses testing, have provided the major premise for research methodology in Library and Information Science of Korea. And the researchers have seen their research object(Korean Libraries) not in the native perspective but largely in the western(especially American) perspective. There is a need in Korea for more culturally relative research. So the desirability of introducing ethnography and other qualitative research methods into Library and Information Science research in Korea can be summarized as follows : I. Ethnography and other qualitative methods are needed for the researchers to overcome the limitation of quantitative methods which have formed the main methodological paradigm in Library and Information Science research in Korea. While those quantitative scientific methods can be a n.0, pplied to the social sciences, they are not adequate for the social sciences. It is because the research objects of the social sciences are human and social phenomena. II. It is needed that Library and Information Science research in Korea pay more attention to the speciality of Korean libraries. To do researches based on the viewpoint of cultural-relativism, researchers should consider the cultural context of Korean libraries. During the past years researchers in other social science fields in Korea, especially sociology and pedagogy, have gradually a n.0, pplied the methods of ethnography to their fields. These social scientists have attempted to escape from ethnocentrism, a problem which has greatly influenced past and present research methods. To get a holistic and in-depth understanding of Korean libraries on the present stage, and to solve their problems radically, it seems imperative that Library and Information Science research in Korea pay more attention to qualitative research methods such as ethnography.

문헌정보학개론 교과내용 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Developing the Curriculum for Introduction to Library and Information Science Courses)

  • 본 연구는 문헌정보학개론 과목의 표준교과내용을 개발하고, 강의계획서를 비롯한 교재목차에 대한 내용을 제안하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 국내외 문헌정보학과의 강의계획서와 교육교재를 수집하여 분석하였으며, 그 결과, 문헌정보학개론의 표준교과내용으로 포함될 주요 수업내용은, (1) 지식정보사회, (2) 정보와 정보원, (3) 문헌정보학의 학문계통, (4) 정보전문직, (5) 도서관사, (6) 도서관 정보센터, (7) 관종별 도서관의 유형 및 기능, (8) 장서개발, (9) 정보자료조직, (10) 정보서비스, (11) 디지털도서관, (12) 정보검색과 데이터베이스, (13) 도서관협력, (14) 도서관정책과 정보윤리 등으로 나타났다. 최종교재목차도 이와 유사한 내용으로 제안되었다.

도서관의 본질과 미래 도서관상 (The essential functions of library and a vision of future library)

  • As information technology has been evolving, digital library emerges as a vision of future library. Many authors on digital library describe that the problems that today's libraries face would be completely solved by using digital technology. But it is su n.0, pposed that such technology oriented papers do not take care of what the library has been and should remain. This paper is prepared to identify what core elements of library services being provided in traditional environment must be transferred to the digital library. For this purpose, firstly historical transition from traditional library to digital discussed. Secondly, library's fundamental service functions are analysed from three points of view-library as cultural and social institution, library as intellectual reality, library as a collection. And 'control zone' concept is also investigated as a new possibility of academic digital libraries. In contrast to open zone in which information is not controled at all as in internet, in control zone, information is selected and maintained by academic library community, retaining such essential library functions as selection.

문헌정보교육학의 학문적 생성 담론 (The Discourse for Academic Generation of 'School library Education Science')

  • 본고는 문헌정보학과 교육학의 통합 연구를 기반으로 문헌정보교육학의 학문적 생성 담론을 다룬다. 학교도서관과 사서교사의 역할이 학교 교육 속에서 정착되기 위한 기초로, 문헌정보교육학의 연구 영역과 과제를 논의하고 방향을 제시한다. 이를 통해 학교도서관 연구의 질적 향상에 기여한다. 학교도서관의 연구 영역은 문헌정보학적 측면과 교육학적 측면에서 분석하고 통합한다. 학교도서관의 연구 추세는 국내 학회지의 논문 게재 빈도의 측면에서 분석하고 통합 연구의 방향을 제시한다. 문헌정보교육학의 정립 이론은 도서관기반교육론과도서관기반학습, 연결거점론, 통합거점론, Top456접근법, 교육과정기반접근법, 관점접근법, 정보와 도서관 교과교육학 등을 제시한다. 연구 논점은 학교도서관의 교육적 기초, 운영, 전자도서관 구축, 교육 활동의 측면에서 논의한다. 결론적으로, 본고는 우리나라 학교도서관과 사서교사의 현실을 진단하고 해결책을 문헌정보교육학의 관점에서 제공한다.

국내 문헌정보학 연구자들의 연구동향 분석 연구 - LISA & ISA를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Research Patterns of Domestic Library & Information Researchers through LISA & ISA)

  • 본 연구는 계량서지학적 측정을 통해 문헌정보학 연구자들의 연구동향을 규명하기 위하여, 문헌정보학분야의 대표적인 데이터베이스인 LISA와 ISA에 수록된 국내 문헌정보학 연구자들의 논문을 대상으로 다각적인 측면에서 분석하였다. 또한 이들 데이터베이스에 수록된 문헌에서 인용한 문헌을 형태별 및 국내외별로 분석함으로써 국내 문헌정보학 연구자들의 인용형태를 분석하였다. 본 연구결과는, 인용문헌을 형태별로 보면 학술지가 가장 많이 인용되고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이 같은 연구는 향후 문헌정보학의 국제화 및 우리학문의 연구방향을 제시 할 것으로 기대된다.

한국 국립대학 도서관의 발전책에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development Policy of National University Libraries in Korea)

  • This paper is intended to analyze and investigate the versity libraries in Korea. Nineteen national col-present status of four-year national college and unileges and universities based on a number of faculty member, enrollment, department, library staff, volumes in library, academic journals, book budget and facilities of library, and so we have to improve and develop a kind of problems with which national college and university libraries are confronted as follows: 1) Establishment of a position for the INFORMATION SPECIALIST. 2) Reorganization of the organization of college and university library. 3) Securing a position for the EDUCATIONAL RESEARCHER. 4) Upgrading a part of temporary employees. 5) Securing a self-control of library's administration. 6) Revising rules for labor employees in library. 7) Revising a STANDARD STATEMENT FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF UNIVERSITY. (Books and academic journals) 8) ' ( Facilities of library ) 9) Increase of a budget of library and establishing for an article of library budget. 10) Establishment of a new department exclusively responsible for library administration in the Ministry of Education. 11) Giving a leading(proper) role to Seoul National University Library among the other college and university libraries. 12) Establishment of The master course of INFORMATION SCIENCE or THE RESEARCH CENTER FOR INFORMATION SCIENCE in Seoul National University.
