The cooperation between library schools and libraries will be reinforced. 5. The departments of library science will cooperate with other departments in the universities in order to utilize the expertise and facilities. 6. The education of graduate schools will be specialized to produce subject specialist librarians and the undergraduate education will produce public and school librarians. 7. Opportunities for continuing education will be provided more and librarians encouraged to participate in those activities. 8. Library association should actively be involved in library education as a provider of continuing education or as a liaison between library schools and libraries. 9. • The literature may be divided into two broad categories : primary and secondary literature. Primary literature comprises documents which contain the full text of the author's work. On the other hand secondary literature, such as indexes, abstracts, bibliographies reviews and surveys, provides signposts to the primary literature. This paper intended to examine and analyze the relationship between primary and secondary literature through the previous research and the theory, and the actual study which compared it with the lists of journals in three secondary literatures: Library and Information Science Abstracts(LISA). 1998; Library Literature (LL), 1998; Information Science Abstracts (ISA), 1998. Some of the problem involved in the study of journal overlap and coverage patterns of secondary services are discussed. Conclusions are drawn about the impact on library and information science selection policies and organization of library collections.

  • Some traditional definitions of information are examined to seek for the mutual concept of them. Mun-hun(文獻, biblio) is defined to clarify its modernized concept. Transformation of library science into Biblio-information science, with the application of information science, are maintained. The results mentioned above are as the followings; 1. The mutual concept of information should be defined as the factor which gives the motivations of certain perception and thinking to the brain of which is the contral center of thinking and behavior of man, and as the factor of knowledge and science. 2. Mun-hun(文獻) means originally "books and wise men". It is elucidated that books mean recorded information, and wise men mean oral information. And so, mun-hun means composite information. 3. It is the inevitable need to investigate the "effective means and methods for the effective use of the best information in a great information flow, and for the recreation of the more advanced information. Biblio information science should be the science to meet the need. 4. Biblio information science should be formed with the application of library science and information science. 5. • This is a critical study on the information-offer-function of Korean public library among its several functions. This is not only reviewed about idealogical logical background of formulation of public library in Korea, but also reviewed about changing process o the goal of public library till the development of actual concept of modern public library. This study suggested a proper definition about actual goal of public library in Korea at present. Technocrats say the public library in the future should be both bookless and paperless library. That may mean over-interpretation on information-offer-function of public library among its several functions. When we meet information super highway era, we must not confront information dependence to advanced information countries. Thus, I suggest a way to solve the establishment of information sovereignty through public library in order to avoid the information dependence to advanced information countries.
