The study aims to prove the raison d'etre of public libraries in urban regeneration paradigm. Life SOC Plan is one of South Korea's urban regeneration policies. Public libraries are considered important in life SOC Plan because public libraries are "Social Anchors". Social Anchor is space-time-bounded place that accelerates diverse people's interactions. Social Anchor makes collective identity that supports production of social capital. Public libraries are institutions producing social capital but have weak collective identity because their missions(open, sharing, equality of information) don't allow boundaries and membership. The study conducted literature reviews and case studies to confirm how collective identity of public libraries strengthens. As a result, the study confirmed that renovating under-used space based on urban regeneration paradigm makes place identity of the under-used space to collective identity of public libraries. Thus, constructing public libraries by renovating under-used space is Social Anchor formation model based on urban regeneration paradigm.

This study aimed to identify the problems of toy libraries by investigating and analyzing the identity and administration of toy library and so to propose the approaches to improve the legal and administrative status of toy library. In accordance with the analysis, only 9.8%(5) of 51 toy libraries in Korea was established on the basis of the Libraries Act. Most toy libraries were established and operated without any basis on legal institutions or toy library ordinances of local authorities(45%). The purposes of establishment were different from the identity of toy library specified in the provisions of Clause 1, 2 and 3, Article 2, Libraries Act, as 82.4% of toy libraries was established for rental of toys, providing game data and cultural activity service and distributing game programs. For the legal registration standards based on the Libraries Act, it was found that 96.1% exceeded the floorage requirements, 92.3% exceeded the seating requirement and 45.1% exceeded the collection requirement on the basis of the small libraries. Only 13.7% employed the librarians. Next, most toy libraries secured just 70% of the required budget. In conclusion, this study proposed the local authorities to establish the ordinances related to toy library on the basis of the Libraries Act. Next, it was also proposed for the toy libraries to register themselves in accordance with the Libraries Act for securing the legal status. Finally, the local authorities need to rationalize and support the budgets for rationalizing the administration of toy libraries.

The purpose of this study is to give a challenge LIS field and serve a starting point for the discussion on iSchool. To achieve the study purpose, this study conducted in-depth interview with LIS scholars. Qualitative method was utilized to analyze the interview data. According to the study results, current curriculum reorganization is required for the success of Korean iSchool. In addition, the followings are the expected effects of iSchool: 1)increased possibility of interdisciplinary research and education, 2)expansion of LIS identity, and 3)creation of a new image of LIS. However, there was anxiety about losing LIS's unique identity as an librarian education institute.

This study is creating furniture design strategies that can upgrade the library function. Today, everyday life is in very strong relationship with the library. Today, the central government and an autonomies make an attempt to contracting out, restructuring, and renaming for public libraries in Korea. These attempts are plot for a disorganization of public libraries. The purpose of this study is to analyze an entity of the plot and to extricate from the disorganization crisis. Based of the analysis, the best alternatives to extricate the crisis are reinforcing the basis of popular support, establishing the identity for public library, finding out opposing logic, taking a legal actions, pressing for a formation of local committee of library development, and overthrowing the confusion of library administrative system.

The purpose of this study was to clarify similarity and identity between university library and archives through comparison of their information materials, functions and organizations. As a results, the archives are so much similar to library in the records, functions. It means what they can use the library resources together. The archives organizations mainly belongs to museum and rarely to libraries and administration organizations.

Reviewing the outcomes of studies on contemporary information science during some periods and identifying the research area exposed in its studies are essential processes to develop the research and theories of information science and to establish the academic identity of information science. This study seeks to provide the some useful methodological approaches for establishing the research area of information science. The methodological approaches to research area of information science are as follows : (1) normative approach by concepts, definitions, and principles of information science, (2) content analysis of text books, (3) content analysis of curricula of graduate courses, (4) content analysis of graduate disserations or treatises, (5) IIS(Institute of Information Scientists)'s criteria for information science, (6) professors' need assessment, (7) interdisciplinary approach, etc. These are the representative types of methodological approach and have an enough validity and effectiveness in their own way. Therefore I think of that those should be integrately applied to establishing the academic identity of information science.

Melanin concentrating hormone (MCH) regulating color change of fish skin was identified from brain cDNA library of Olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) during the analysis of Expressed Sequence Tags (ESTs). Olive flounder MCH gene consisted of 598 nucleotides encoding 150 amino acids. Olive flounder MCH protein revealed to contain signal peptide of 19 amino acid residues, pro-MCH of 131 amino acids being processed to biologically active and mature form of hormone with 25 amino acid residues at the carboxyl terminus. A comparative structural analysis revealed that Olive flounder MCH precursor had low sequence identity with other fish species and mammalian counterparts, while the amino acid sequences of mature hormone had a relatively high identity and more conserved. RT-PCR analysis revealed that olive flounder MCH precersor gene was expressed spectically only in the brain and not in other tissues.

This study aims at suggesting mid- and long-term development plan (vision, core values, strategic goals and functional performances, major tasks and detailed action plans for each strategy, organizational and human resources management, shared responsibility with the National Library of Korea which is main library in collection and services of policy information, and cooperation and collaborative exchange programs) for the National Library of Korea, Sejong. This study is based on the appropriateness that the library should enhance its visibility through focusing on the role as the specialized library in charge of public policy information services if it wished to ensure the identity of a branch of the National library of Korea for the comprehensive collection, preservation, and nationwide services of public policy information.

The purpose of this study is to review the processing of Korean related personal identities included in the OCLC WorldCat Identities Network and propose how to improve its errors. With twelve samples of English and Korean personal and subject identities, their related identities and works were examined, and their bibliographic records were retrieved from WorldCat. In searching WorldCat, inconsistencies in default search queries and the processing of identities with a date or a fuller form of name were observed.
