This study aims to explore ways to improve self-censorship tendency in teacher librarians by identifying factors that influence the self-censorship which appears during collection development in elementary school libraries. For this purpose, first, we examined the concept of self-censorship through a review of related literature, then carried out a series of in-depth interviews as a pilot study to develop a questionnaire, which was used for a questionnaire survey. Finally, the survey data was analyzed statistically with SPSS 21.0, a statistical package. As a result, we have discovered statistically significant relationships between self-censorship and the characteristics in collection development policies, school library committees, and the complaints related with the library collections. Based on these results, the factors on the self-censorship were identified in the perception of the school librarians. Based on these results, we suggest to reinforce the function of review and approval of book selection in the school library committee, developed and approved a collection development policy include guidelines for dealing with users' complaints related to library collection, and stipulated a regulation for school library operation to remove inappropriate books from the library collection.

The aim of this study is supporting efficient development of library collection and improvement of library service for users by analyzing utilization patterns of library collection using circulation statistics of medical library users. With this purpose, circulation statistics were extracted from 90,420 cases of circulation records in A library for recent 3 years (from 2012 to 2014). Specifically, circulation data categorized according to status and subject, loan data of most popular books and use data of inter-library loan service were collected and analyzed. Subject groups of this study are undergraduate students, graduate students and incumbent hospital employees including faculty members, training members and nondoctor members. For the result, medical library users intensively lent materials of Technology (Applied Sciences), Literature and Social science areas. Especially, the demand of the materials of literature was higher than the demand of the other subject areas compared in the base of collection development.

This study attempted to analyze factors affecting public library collection development. To this end, a recognition survey was conducted on librarians in public libraries to ask about the collection development policy, the environment of the book, and the importance of the reference information. As a result of the analysis, more than 80% of public library librarians were aware of the necessity of the collection development policy. In addition, many librarians prioritized matters related to the status of loans and applied them to their work, and it was found that reference sources such as literature/academic award-winning books, newspapers/magazines, media, and various book-related associations were more important.

The purpose of this study is to expand understanding among librarians of the importance of caricatures, cartoons and comics in the library collection. To do so, the writer explores the characteristics, meaning, artistic value, and benefits of this realm. The writer also examines traditional as well as changing attitudes of the public toward caricatures cartoons and comics. As this study progresses. it will prove that caricatures. cartoons and comics are very important cultural products of our time, to which all libraries should pay more attention. Thus the writer urges that the library should make a good collection in this are and make it available to the public.

This study is to set up a model of minimum and optimum standards for college and university library building areas in Korea. The results of this study are summarized as follows: 1. minimum standards(proposal) At first, Areas needed by factors of space component are as follows: User space --- 0.45 $m^{2}$ per student. Collection space --- 0.0107 $m^{2}$ per volume Staff space --- 10.1 $m^{2}$ per person Space attached to user, collection and staff space --- 5% of the sum of user, collection and staff areas(0.041 $m^{2}$ per student). Nonassignable space --- 25% of the sum of user, collection and staff areas (0.21 $m^{2}$ per student). Next, the formula to calculate the total area of the college and university library building is as follows: N = 0.45T $m^{2}$(a) + 0.0107V $m^{2}$(b) + 10.1S $m^{2}$(c) + 0.05(a+b+c) $m^{2}$, NS = 0.25N $m^{2}$. 2. All public libraries are collection-based knowledge and cultural service institutions. To this end, a collection development policy is an essential and a strategic menu that every library should establish first. Regional central libraries should establish and apply optimal collection development policies to conduct the legal duties as knowledge and information centers and cooperative preservation facilities of the cities and provinces. Thus, this study analyzed and compared in detail the collection development guidelines (draft) and regulations of regional central libraries in Korea and the collection development policies of metropolitan public libraries abroad. Results showed that the policies of domestic regional central libraries were simply practical guidelines while those in most developed countries were substantial in format and content. All regional central library systems should establish and document collection development policies based on the importance of collection development, future-oriented thinking, and strategic decision. The study also suggested the basic principles and the format for this purpose.

Due to the advent of knowledge-based society and digital environment, libraries especially national libraries are undergoing a transformation and the new concepts, processes and tools for collection development as the heart of libraries are evolving. The purpose of this paper is to propose the direction of hybrid resources development for ensuring sustainable collection and preservation of resources in national libraries. Accordingly, this paper looks about a transformation of national libraries and collection development, and investigates the coverage of national collections based positioning of national libraries through performance indicators in standard, definitions, purposes and missions. It also proposes legal deposit methods of digital resources through the law related library and investigates archiving method of online digital resources including hybrid collection development system in national libraries.

This study purposes to identify how the 'selection' of library materials shold be changed in the electronic environment to improve library services fundamentally. The study scrutinized the essence of selection, the relationship between selection and collection management, and the results of various studies to define the selection. The study implies: 1) the selection must be changed to the function providing users with assessment information of library materials, which helps the users access to entire scholarly information. 2) the assessment information could be input from different libraries and used by all users connected to the library network.

Small libraries, with their insufficient quantities of materials and lack of diversity within the collection compared to larger general public libraries, may need to be assessed and develop collections based on empirical analysis. This study suggests a method for collection evaluation with other cases analyzing ILL (interlibrary loan) data, which is especially heavy in Small libraries in addition to the holdings and circulation data that are traditionally used in collection development. Collecting and analyzing materials proceeded from 14 Small libraries which operate ILL in a city and tried to figure out features of each library comparing collection statistics with usage statistics including circulation and interlibrary loans. It also identified subject areas heavily used in a Small library, based on the analysis of collection and usage statistics, for the purpose of formulating future policy.

The purpose of this paper is to study the initiatives on digital collection and development in engineering college libraries in the Rayalaseema Region of Andhra Pradesh. Eighty-one engineering college libraries in Rayalaseema Region have been surveyed to assess the initiatives taken on digital collection and development. This paper highlights opinions of librarians on most preferred digital materials and various digital resources acquainted with their library. The digital library initiatives cover a variety of activities starting from the digital collection building, digitization, digital collection, maintenance, and digital preservation. It is found that 34.57% of libraries are in the process of building digital collections, which is an encouraging trend among Engineering Educational Institutions in Rayalaseema Region.
