Study on Adult College Students' Class Satisfaction According to Blended Class Participation (블렌디드 러닝 수업 참여형태에 따른 성인대학생 수업만족도에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the development direction of adult learners' blended learning class as a study on the class satisfaction of adult college students according to the blended learning class participation type. To this end, a survey was conducted targeting adult learners at two schools that are carrying out the LiFE project (lifelong education system support project). The analyzed research results are as follows. First, in the case of adult learners, the proportion of participating in liberal arts + major classes as a blended learning subject was 77.8%, and home was the highest with 69.8% as a place to participate in online classes. Second, satisfaction with the blended learning teacher/instructor teaching method was generally satisfied with 95.2% of average or higher. Third, 96.8% of the students answered 'yes' or higher regarding the level of satisfaction with the blended learning method. The above research results show that blended learning is one of the important teaching and learning methods in providing adult-tailored education to adult learners who combine work and study. It can be seen that the blended learning teaching method is an effective teaching method that enables interactive communication between the instructor and the learner rather than the one-way teaching-oriented content delivery class of the traditional classroom.

The Effect of Basic Learning Ability Improvement Clinic Classes on Self-efficacy, Immersion, and Major Satisfaction in College Students

  • Due to the decrease in the school-age population, the number of freshmen at local college who lack basic learning skills is increasing. Thus, C college has been running a basic learning ability improvement clinic program. This paper is a case study that investigates the effect of basic learning ability improvement clinic programs on major class immersion, efficacy, and major class satisfaction. In 2022, a total of 459 students were surveyed, including 238 students who participated in online and offline classes for basic learning ability improvement clinics and 221 students who did not participate in classes. Data processing was performed using SPSS Ver. 26.0 was used. The results of this study are as follows. First, among the sub-factors of academic self-efficacy, the group participating in the basic learning ability improvement clinic showed significant differences in task difficulty preference and confidence. Second, the class participation group showed a significant difference in learning immersion in major classes. Third, the class participation group showed significant differences in all sub-factors of major satisfaction. In conclusion, it was found that the basic learning ability improvement clinic class had a significant effect on academic self-efficacy, learning immersion, and major satisfaction.

A Model for Teaching Film Literacy through Movie English (영화영어를 통한 영화리터러시 교육방안)

  • Film literacy comprises the process of producing a new creation through understanding the elements that make up a film, the content of a film, and a critical and creative thinking process. Film literacy is employed in fields such as composition, science, social studies, and geography, and, additionally, it is used to cultivate humanities literacy and critical thinking skills. Yet despite the large proportion of the film script in the movie, it is not easy to find literacy education cases that use film English as a teaching method. Film English is a practical and authentic material, and is suitable as an English learning material in an EFL context like Korea. However, the approach of using films to teach and learn differs according to the content and genre of a film. Thus, the teacher may have a difficult time organizing and preparing for class. This study suggests six class activities that can be commonly applied to English classes using films based on the areas of critical, cultural, and creative (3Cs) activities. Four hundred and five college students taking Movie English classes participated in the present study and frequency analysis was conducted to find out their preferences through a questionnaire survey. The results from conducting class activities in university liberal arts classes suggest that the most preferred activities of students are related to cultural, critical, and creative, in that order. Creative activities that are far beyond English instruction utilizing various digital tools or providing additional reading materials can be a burden on learners.

Analysis on the Plant Community Structure of Chundong Valley in Sobaeksan National Park (소백산국립공원 천동계곡의 식물군집구조분석)

  • A survey of the Chundong valley forest in Mt. Sobaek was conducted using 20 sample plots of 500$m^2$ size. The classification by TWINSPAN and DCA, CCA ordination techniques were applied to the study area in order to classify them into several groups based on woody plants and environmental variables. By TWINSPAN techniques, the plant community were divided into four groups. The dividing groups are Pinus densiflora community, Qurcus variabilis -Q. mongolica -P. densiflora community, Fraxinus rhynchophylla community. The successional trends of tree species by DCA ordination techniques and DBH class distribution analysis seems to be from P. densiflora through Q. mongolica. Q. variabilis to F rhynchophylla. The correlation between the score of first two axes and soil pH, soil humus, soil calcium concentration, soil magnesium concentration was significantly positive in CCA ordination. The positive correlation between the score of first two axes of F. rhynchophylla community and soil humus, soil magnesium concentration and between ones of P. densiflora community and soil pH were calculated. But there is no correlation between species and environmental variables.

  • As the fourth industrial revolution becomes more popular and advanced services such as artificial intelligence and Internet of Things technology are widely commercialized, awareness of the importance of software is spreading. Recently, software education has been taught not only in elementary school and college but also in college. Also, there is a growing interest in computational thinking needed to solve problems through computing methodology and model. The purpose of this study is to design an app inventor course for non-majors software education based on computational thinking. As a result of the study, six detailed competencies of computational thinking were derived, and six detailed competencies were mapped to the app inventor learning elements. In addition, based on the computational thinking modeling, I designed an app inventor class for students who participated in IT curriculum of university liberal arts curriculum.

  • The Ministry of educational science and technology is about to conduct its 7th &8th curriculum. However, there are some problems in achieving its goals under the current class model system in both educational and architectural. This study finds the characteristics of the arrangements and architectural planning in the departmental system - designed high schools. As a result, the arrangement was tend to be 'overall type' or 'central type' depending on the teaching-learning efficiency. Liberal arts and science&technology groups were placed close, and foreign languages and general cultural studies were arranged close as well. Importantly, there were supporting facilities such as a gymnasium, a cafeteria, a library, a computer lab, and an all-purpose-room, and this arrangement provided convenience. It is for the better learning effect and the high efficiency. It is worthy noticing that the placement and formation of individual or study space is regarded importantly. In flow planning, it seemed that it was designed to reduce the users' movement to a minimum. However, there are still some problems compared to Japan or the States, who already has an established departmental system. I think that the government should enforce its necessity of planning to schools, relevant divisions, or architects to bring it up. Furthermore, it is urgently needed a practical and future-oriented study that can forecast any changes in architectural spaces within the ever-changing teaching and learning environment in the information-oriented society.

Studies on the Degree of Likings for Each Units of School Mathematics (학교수학의 각 영영에 대한 선호도 연구)

  • School mathematics are composed of five major units of numbers& algebraic expressions, equations & inequalities, functions, figures, and statistics & probabilities. But if we look into the general activities of mathematics teachers in their class, they rather do not take into account students\` cognitive and affective traits or degree of difficulty which each of the unit has. For successful teaching of mathematics, teachers should take into consideration many affective items which influence the students\` scholastic achievement. Among them student\`s liking for the mathematics is commonly accepted as the most important factor for successful learning. In this study, with the five units of school mathematics, we investigated the students\` degree of likings for each unit. To fined out whether there are any differences in students\` likings for the mathematics, between regions and kind of schools, we classified the population according to the locations and kinds of schools. To do this, we divided the whole region into four parts such as Seoul, large city, medium city and town. Moreover, we partitioned the whole secondary school students into four groups of middle school students, vocational high school students, pro-science students of academic high schools, and pro-liberal arts students of academic high schools. From each partition, we sampled similar size of experimental groups which came up to total 1260 students. Analysing the answer sheets which the students responded about the questionnaire, we investigated the following questions using the ANOVA test. 1. Is there any differences in the trend of likings for each unit between the regional classifications? 2. Is there any differences in the trend of likings for each unit between the classifications of secondary schools? 3. What trends of changes are there in the degree of likings for each unit according to the rising of students\` grade?

Characteristics of the Vegetation in the Coastal Dunes near the Swimming Beaches on the East Sea Coast, South Korea (동해안 해수욕장 주변의 해안사구 식생 특성)

  • This study was carried out to investigate and evaluate the vegetations in the coastal dunes in the vicinity of swimming beaches on the East Sea, South Korea, and the vegetations that were investigated are as follows: Carex pumila community, Cynodon dactylon community, Zoysia macrostachya community, Rosa rugosa community, Vitex rotundifolia community and Carex kobomugi typical community. Some of these vegetations, such as Carex kobomugi, Calystegia soldanella, Ixeris repens, Elymus mollis, Lathyrus japonica, and Glehnia littoralis were found to be differential species which belongs to Caricion kobomugi of Glehnietea littoralis. It was also discovered that Vitex rotundifolia community was the most heterogeneous among vegetation communities of the coastal dunes surrounding swimming beaches, and Zoysia macrostachya community was most closely linked to the typical coastal dune vegetation community. Finally, Rosa rugosa community and Vitex rotundifolia community seemed to have formed near the hinterland of coastal dunes and swimming beaches respectively because of certain unnatural disturbances such as construction of buildings and facilities or natural disasters.

  • This study tried to suggest the development of a writing education model for Christian Universities based on both Hobbs' media education model and Vanhoozer's media text analysis model. This model consists of 6 steps- Christian worldview establishment, access, analysis and evaluation, creation, reflection and social action. This was developed in order to be applied for the class "reading and writing" of liberal arts. Also, this is an appropriate model for media text writing education aiming at an alternative creation activity through a critical comprehension of the complex texts consisting of sounds, images, letters and so on. Furthermore, this is designed to train the capable persons having intelligence, character, and spirituality balanced, whom the education of Chrisitian universities aims at. Finally, this model pursues the student-friendly and amalgamative text writing appropriate for a new era and has an advantage to raise the power of various forms of letter writing which all the universities should stress as well.

Changes of the Plant Community Structure during the Twenty-two Years(1972~1993) in Forest of Mt. Kwanak (관악산 삼림의 22년간(1972~1993)의 식물군집구조 변화)

  • This survey was ocnducted to investgate changes of the plant community structure from 1972 to 1993 in forest of Mt. Kwanak and thirty-five plots that the size of each plot was 10m${\times}$10m(100㎡) were set up and the vegetation analysis was caried out. By the TWINSPAN analysis, the plant community of survey area were divied into Quercus mongolica, Q. mongolica-Pinus densiflora(1), Q. mongolica-P. densiflora(2), Q. acutissima community. The successional trends of the woody species were seemed to be from P. densiflora, Sorbus alnifolia to Q. mongolica in the canopy layer. But the successional trends in the understory and shrub layer were difficult to suppose. The forest vegetation of Mt. Kwanak from 1972 to 1993 was severely decreased in species number and individuals. The sensitive species for the environmental pollution were selected, and the tolerant plants for the acid soil were increased. In comparision with the DBH class distribution from 1972 to 1993, it shows that the ecological succession has stopped. In the analysis of soil characteristics, soil acidification has taken place over last twenty-two years(from pH=5.40 to pH=4.53). The concentration of K+, Ca++ was severly decreased(from K+=0.60m.e./100g to K+=0.06m.e./100g, from Ca++=3.20m.e./100g to Ca++=0.63m.e./100g), which also could seemed to be cause of plant community decline.
