Due to the recent development of measuring technology and 3D programs, it has become possible to obtain various spatial data. This study utilizes the 2-dimensional data and 3-dimensional data extraction technology based on the existing empirical and statistical DB. The data obtained from geospatial data technology are integrated with civil engineering BIM to conduct the modeling of the topography of the target region and select the optimum location condition by using the cut and fill balance of the volume of earth. The target area is the land around Tamjin River, Jangheong-gun, Jeolla-do. The 3-dimensional topology linked with 3-dimensional mapping technology by using the orth-image and aerial LiDAR that uses aerial photo of the target area is visualized with Civil3D of AutoDesk. By using Civil3D program, the Thanks to the recent development of measuring technology and 3D programs, target area is analyzed through visualization and related data can be obtained for analysis. The method of using civil engineering BIM enables to obtain various and accurate information about the target area which is helpful for addressing the issues risen from the existing methodology. In this regard, it aims at searching for the alternatives and provides suggestions to utilize the information.

This study spatially assesses the impact of trees on residential rooftop solar energy potential using urban three-dimensional models derived from Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR) data in San Francisco, California. In recent years on-site solar energy generation in cities has become an essential agenda in municipal climate action plans. However, it can be limited by neighboring environments such as shade from topography, buildings and trees. Of all these effects, the impact of trees on rooftop photovoltaics(PVs) requires careful attention because improper situation of solar panels without considering trees can result in inefficient solar energy generation, tree removal, and/or increasing building energy demand and urban heat island effect. Using ArcMap 9.3.1, we calculated the incoming annual solar radiation on individual rooftops in San Francisco and the reduced insolation affected by trees. Furthermore, we performed a multiple regression analysis to see what attributes of trees in a neighborhood(tree density, tree heights, and the variance of tree heights) affect rooftop insolation. The result shows that annual total residential rooftops insolation in San Francisco is 18,326,671 MWh and annual total light-loss reduction caused by trees is 326,406 MWh, which is about 1.78%. The annual insolation shows a wide range of values from $34.4kWh/m^2/year$ to $1,348.4kWh/m^2/year$. The result spatially maps the locations that show the various levels of impact from trees. The result from multiple regression shows that tree density, average tree heights and the variation of tree heights in a neighborhood have statistically significant effects on the rooftop solar potential. The results can be linked to municipal energy planning in order to manage potential conflicts as cities with low to medium population density begin implementing on-site solar energy generation. Rooftop solar energy generation makes the best contribution towards achieving sustainability when PVs are optimally located while pursuing the preservation of urban trees.

The new laser scanning technology allows to attain 3D information faster with higher accuracy on surface ground, vegetation and buildings of the earth surface. This acquired information can be used in many areas after modifying them appropriately by users. The contour production for accurate landform is an advanced technology that can reveal the mountain area landscapes hidden by the trees in detail. However, if extremely precise LiDAR data is used in constructing the contour, massive-sized data intricates the contour diagram and could amplify the data size inefficiently. This study illustrates the algorithm producing contour that is filtered in stages for more efficient utilization using the LiDAR contour produced by the detailed landscape data. This filtering stages allow to preserve the original landscape shape and to keep the data size small. Point Filtering determines the produced contour diagram shape and could minimize data size. Thus, in this study we compared experimentally filtered contour with the current digital map(1:5,000).

In this study, we investigated the landslides area which occurred in Umyeonsan in 2011 and collected landslide location data. Using this field data with aerial photos and LiDAR data which is obtained before and after disaster event, we analyzed the landslide occurrence frequency per unit area about various topographic characteristics. In case of slope, we compared two kind of slopes which are calculated with Neighborhood algorithm and maximum slope algorithm. Also we used aspect, elevation, profile curvature and planform curvature in topographic analysis of landslide occurrence locations. As a result, the region of which maximum slope is $40^{\circ}-45^{\circ}$ is relatively hazardous in landslide. If the perpendicular surface to the direction of the maximum slope is concave, it is more hazardous than other case.
Natural disaster such as inundation due to the typhoon induced storm-surge has inflicted severe losses on the coastal area. The problem of global warming and sea surface rising has issued and thus influences the increase of frequency and potential power of storm-surge. What we can do is to make intelligent effort to predict and prevent the losses through the early warning and prevention activity from the accurate prediction and forecasting about the time-varying storm-surge height and its arriving time resulted from the numerical simulation with sea observations. In this paper, we developed the web service based GIS-Enabled storm-surge visualization system to predict and prevent the storm-surge disasters. Moreover. for more accurate topography around coastal area and fine-grid storm-surge numerical model, we have accomplished GIS-based coastal mapping through LiDAR measurement.

Recently, large-scale multi-hazards have been occurred in the various areas of the world. A variety of Earth observation sensors such as satellite EO, aerial and terrestrial LiDAR have been utilized for global natural disaster monitoring. Especially, commercial satellites which observe the Earth regularly and repeatedly, and acquire images with cm-level high spatial resolution enable its applications to extend in the fields of disaster management from advanced disaster monitoring to timely recovery. However, due to existing satellite operation systems with some limitations in almost real-time and wide regional disaster response, close international collaborations between satellite operating organizations like NASA, JAXA, KARI etc. have been required for collecting satellite images in time through a satellite platform with multi-sensors or satellite constellation. For responding domestic natural disaster such as heavy snowfall and extreme rainfall in 2011, this paper proposes a disaster management system for timely decision-making; rapid acquisition of satellite imagery, data processing, GIS analysis, and digital mapping through cooperation with NDMI in Korea and International Charter-Space and Major disasters.

3D point data is utilized in various industry domains for its high accuracy to the surface information of an object. It is substantially utilized in geography for terrain scanning and analysis. Generally, 3D point data need to be changed by Gridding which produces a regularly spaced array of z values from irregularly spaced xyz data. But it requires long processing time and high resource cost to interpolate grid coordination. Kriging interpolation in Gridding has attracted because Kriging interpolation has more accuracy than other methods. However it haven't been used frequently since a processing is complex and slow. In this paper, we presented a parallel Gridding algorithm which contains Kriging and an application of grid data structure to fit MapReduce paradigm to this algorithm. Experiment was conducted for 1.6 and 4.3 billions of points from Airborne LiDAR files using our proposed MapReduce structure and the results show that the total execution time is decreased more than three times to the convention sequential program on three heterogenous clusters.
