The objectives of the present work are to investigate the influence of the solution cooled absorber(SCA), refrigerant drain heat exchanger(RSX), exhaust gas/solution heat exchanger(ESX) and high efficiency solution heat exchanger on COP for a double-effect series-flow absorption chiller. A simulation program has been prepared for the cycle analysis of absorption chillers. As a result, solution heat exchangers(LSX, HSX) are the most effective element for the COP than the others. In spite of the poor contribution to COP, SCA plays an important role to reduce the crystallization phenomena of LiBr solution at solution heat exchanger. And the optimum solution split ratio varies with the relative size of RSX and LSX.
The purpose of this study is to present the simulation results and an overview of the performance assessment of a solar heating & cooling system by means of the $200m^2$ evacuated tube solar collector. The simulation was carried out using the thermal simulation code TRNSYS with new model of a single-effect LiBr/$H_{2}O$ absorption chiller developed by this study. The calculation was performed for yearly long-term thermal performance and for two design factors: the solar hot water storage tank and the cold water storage tank. As a result, it was anticipated that the yearly mean system efficiency is 46.7% and the solar fraction for the heating, cooling and hot water supply are about 84.4 %, 41.7% and 72.4%, respectively.
The magnetic separation of Nd-Fe-B powders prepared by melt-spun and HDDR processes was investigated. The experiments show that the ununiform melt-spun powders can be separated into various standards by means of magnetic separation method. The magnetic powders with higher properties were obtained by the use of suitable separating field. For example, the properties of ununiform melt-spun powders are Br=7.95 kG, iHc=9.93 kOe and (BH)max=10.2 MGOe before separating. Through separating in different magnetic fields, the powders obtained with a separating field of 780 Oe has the optimum properties of Br=7.7 kG, iHc=11.0 kOe and (BH)max=15.3 MGOe. The magnetic properties of the HDDR magnetic powder are hardly separated by the magnetic separation method.

This is the second report of a three part study on the absorption and heat transfer characteristics of absorber, the correlation of refrigerating capacity and heating capacity. The 2nd report deals with the heat transfer characteristics of a vertical falling film type absorber of inner copper tube. The solute is LiBr-Water solution(60wt%) and the solvent is water vapor. The film Reynoles numbers are varied in the range of 35~130. The states of LiBr solution at the top of absorber are supercooled liquid and superheated liquid. The results are summarized as follows ; Heat transfer results reveal that for the absorption of falling film, the state of LiBr solution appears to be influential in determining the heat transfer. Thus, for the state of supercooled liquid, heat transfer coefficient decreases with increasing the film Reynolds number, but in the condition of superheated liquid, it increases conversely. The mass transfer coefficients that were presented in the 1st.report and heat transfer coefficients of this paper are presented as the dimensionless correlation. The optimum water flowrate which brings about maximum value of heat flux in the film exists, and that increases with increasing the cooling water temperature.

For examining an effect of lithium bromide on structure and property of chitosan/fibroin blend, we investigated the structural characteristic of chitosan/fibroin blend films using solution with lithium bromide which was removed during a casting. The chitosan/fibroin blend formed a complex with the dissolved bromine/lithium ions. The crystalline phase of the complex was found in the blend film at LiBr concentration of 0.6 mol/L. The degree of crystallization was decreased with increasing the concentration of LiBr. The hydrated crystalline phase of chitosan was formed in the blend film that lithium bromide was removed in the process of casting by neutralization and osmotic action. The crystallinity of this film was increased largely as compared with that of the film without lithium bromide. The complexed blend film formed hydrogel absorbing plenty of water.

This study carried out a numerical analysis of the effects of hot waste water supply on the performance of a Type II absorption heat pump. There are two types of hot waste water supply, regular series flow and reverse series flow. Also it investigated the interaction between each type of flow and heat exchange solutions. As the effectiveness of heat exchange solutions increase, the steam generation and (COP) increase as well. If the effectiveness of a heat exchange solution is lower than 0.566, the steam generation rate of the reverse flow is lower than that of the regular series flow. A high effectiveness of heat exchange solution is therefore required to make a larger amount of steam in reverse series flow than with ordinary series flow. The COP difference between the two types of flow decreases with the increasing effectiveness of the heat exchange solution. Thus, a reverse flow type absorption heat pump can match the high steam generation rate and COP of the ordinary flow type when a highly effective heat exchange solution is applied.

Experiments were carried out to study the heat transfer characteristics of a disrober for 150 RT LiBr-water absorption heat pump. An experimental apparatus was divided into four sections, a combustion chamber area, two bare-tube areas, and finally a finned-tube area to quantify the heat transfer rate of each section by measuring the generation rate of vapor. Dividing plates was installed at the upper inside part of deserter to prohibit the moving of vapor generated at heating tubes of a section to another section near. In the first bare-tube area, the generation rate of vapor was the largest among the four sections. The finned-tube area only contributed to give sensible heat increase of solution to the saturation temperature. The heat transfer area of the finned-tube area was 52.2%, which absorbed only 9.2% of the total heat from the combustion gas. On the contrary, the heat transfer area of the first bare-tube area was 16.6%, but it absorbed 52.4% of the total absorbed heat. The temperature of the solution at upper part at the finned-tube area was lower than that of the lower part, because weak solution came in upper part of the finned-tube area. But, this tendency was changed at the first and second bare-tube area due to the vigorous heat transfer and fluid flow enhanced by vapor generation through heating tubes. The overall heat transfer coefficient and heat flux were the largest at the first bare-tube area among the other sections.
This paper was studied on corrosion characteristics of gas absorption refrigeration & hot water system using $LiBr-H_2O$ working fluids. In the $62\%$ lithium bromide solution at $60^{\circ}C$, polarization test of Cu, $10\%$ cupronickel($90-10\%$ Cu-Ni) and $30\%$ cupronickel($70-30\%$ Cu-Ni) tube was carried out. And polarization behavior, polarization resistance characteristics, open circuit potential, anodic polarization of heat exchanger tube for gas absorption refrigeration & hot water system were considered. The main results are as following: 1) Polarization resistance of heat exchange tubes appears high in order of $30\%$ cupronickel tube > $10\%$ cupronickel tube > Cu tube. B) Open circuit potential of cupronickel tube is more noble than that of Cu tube, and corrosion current density of cupronickel is controlled than Cu tube. 3) Potential of passive region of $30\%$ cupronickel tube is more wide than that of $10\%$ cupronickel tube, and the passivation critical current of $30\%$ cupronickel tube is lower than that of $10\%$ cupronickel tube.
Salt stability of enzymes is a crucial practical factor in the food industry. Previously, leucine aminopeptidase (LAP) was purified from Bacillus sp. N2. Here, we present the salt effect of LAP using synthetic substrates. LAP had a hydrolytic activity for L-leucine-${\rho}$-nitroanilide in high concentrations of NaCl (up to 4 M), but not for other neutral salts (LiBr, LiCl, NaBr, KBr, and KCl). It hydrolyzed various synthetic di-peptide substrates with hydrophobic and hydrophilic amino acids at the C-terminal Xaa region, in the presence of 0-4 M NaCl. The result indicated that the hydrolytic action of LAP is not dependent on the hydrophobicity of the amino acid side chain at the scissile bond of the substrate. Remarkably, the hydrolytic activity of LAP was 1-3 folds higher than those of other LAPs and aminopeptidases in 4.5 M NaCl, suggesting that NaCl-tolerant LAP might be used in the food industry as cheese and anchovy sauce.
Novel acidic ionic liquids, 1-(${\omega}$-sulfonicacid)propyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([$HSO_3$pmim]Br)and 1-(${\omega}$-sulfonicacid)butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([$HSO_3$bmim]Br), were prepared and used as brominating agents, catalysts and solvents in the synthesis of 1,7-dibromoheptane, respectively. 1,7-dibromoheptan with a yield of 95% was obtained at $100^{\circ}C$ for 2 h by simple phase separation. The acidic ionic liquid [$HSO_3$pmim]Br was recycled for 5 times and the yield of 1,7-dibromoheptane did not decrease remarkably, which indicates that catalysts still maintain good selectivity and activity after recycling. The structure of the acidic ionic liquid [$HSO_3$pmim]Br was characterized with IR, and it was found that [$HSO_3$pmim]Br had stronger acidity than other ionic liquid.
