  • The electron transport properties of Y-type zigzag branched carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are of great significance for micro and nano carbon-based electronic devices and their interconnection. Based on the semi-empirical method combining tight-binding density functional theory and non-equilibrium Green's function, the electron transport properties between the branches of Y-type zigzag branched CNT are studied. The results show that the drain-source current of semiconducting Y-type zigzag branched CNT (8, 0)-(4, 0)-(4, 0) is cut-off and not affected by the gate voltage in a bias voltage range [-0.5 V, 0.5 V]. The current presents a nonlinear change in a bias voltage range [-1.5 V, -0.5 V] and [0.5 V, 1.5 V]. The tangent slope of the current-voltage curve can be changed by the gate voltage to realize the regulation of the current. The regulation effect under negative bias voltage is more significant. For the larger diameter semiconducting Y-type zigzag branched CNT (10, 0)-(5, 0)-(5, 0), only the value of drain-source current increases due to the larger diameter. For metallic Y-type zigzag branched CNT (12, 0)-(6, 0)-(6, 0), the drain-source current presents a linear change in a bias voltage range [-1.5 V, 1.5 V] and is symmetrical about (0, 0). The slope of current-voltage line can be changed by the gate voltage to realize the regulation of the current. For three kinds of Y-type zigzag branched CNT with different diameters and different conductivity, the current-voltage curve trend changes from decline to rise when the branch of drain-source is exchanged. The current regulation effect of semiconducting Y-type zigzag branched CNT under negative bias voltage is also more significant.

  • Nowadays, mobile robots have been used to search for uncontrolled radioactive source in indoor environments to avoid radiation exposure for technicians. However, in the indoor environments, especially in the presence of obstacles, how to make the robots with limited sensing capabilities automatically search for the radioactive source remains a major challenge. Also, the source search efficiency of robots needs to be further improved to meet practical scenarios such as limited exploration time. This paper proposes an automatic source search strategy, abbreviated as ACA: the location of source is estimated by a convolutional neural network (CNN), and the path is planned by the A-star algorithm. First, the search area is represented as an occupancy grid map. Then, the radiation dose distribution of the radioactive source in the occupancy grid map is obtained by Monte Carlo (MC) method simulation, and multiple sets of radiation data are collected through the eight neighborhood self-avoiding random walk (ENSAW) algorithm as the radiation data set. Further, the radiation data set is fed into the designed CNN architecture to train the network model in advance. When the searcher enters the search area where the radioactive source exists, the location of source is estimated by the network model and the search path is planned by the A-star algorithm, and this process is iterated continuously until the searcher reaches the location of radioactive source. The experimental results show that the average number of radiometric measurements and the average number of moving steps of the ACA algorithm are only 2.1% and 33.2% of those of the gradient search (GS) algorithm in the indoor environment without obstacles. In the indoor environment shielded by concrete walls, the GS algorithm fails to search for the source, while the ACA algorithm successfully searches for the source with fewer moving steps and sparse radiometric data.

  • We demonstrated experimentally a variable optical frequency comb source using a cascaded dual parallel Mach Zehnder modulator (DPMZM) and a phase modulator (PM). With this simple configuration and applying low drive voltages, we generated variable comb source composed of spectral lines 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 with 10-GHz frequency spacing, also generated 2 and 3 spectral lines with 20 GHz frequency spacing. The generated comb source maintains high spectral coherence across the entire bandwidth with good spectral flatness (within 1-dB for 2, 3, 5, 7 comb lines, within 2-dB for 9-comb lines and within 3-dB for 11 comb lines). The flat and variable comb source is mainly achieved by manipulating 6 operating parameters of DPMZM, setting RF amplifier gain, connected at phase modulator and phase shifters. Hence the method is simple and offers great flexibility in achieving flat and variable comb spectrum, which is experimentally demonstrated. This brings advantages of power efficiency due to low driving voltages, simplicity and cost effectiveness to the system.

  • With the advent of the Information Age, the source identification of digital images, as a part of digital image forensics, has attracted increasing attention. Therefore, an effective technique to identify the source of digital images is urgently needed at this stage. In this paper, first, we study and implement some previous work on image source identification based on sensor pattern noise, such as the Lukas method, principal component analysis method and the random subspace method. Second, to extract a purer sensor pattern noise, we propose a sample selection method to improve the random subspace method. By analyzing the image texture feature, we select a patch with less complexity to extract more reliable sensor pattern noise, which improves the accuracy of identification. Finally, experiment results reveal that the proposed sample selection method can extract a purer sensor pattern noise, which further improves the accuracy of image source identification. At the same time, this approach is less complicated than the deep learning models and is close to the most advanced performance.

  • The etching characteristics of a LiNbO$_3$ single crystal have been investigated using helicon wave plasma source with bias power and the mixture of CF$_4$, HBr, SF$_{6}$ gas parameters. The etching rate of LiNbO$_3$ with etching parameters was evaluated by surface profiler. The etching surface was evaluated by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). The surface morphology of the etched LiNbO$_3$ changed with bias power and the mixture of CF$_4$/Ar/Cl$_2$, HBr/Ar/Cl$_2$, and SF$_{6}$/Ar/Cl$_2$ parameters. Optimum etching conditions, considering both the surface flatness and etch rate were determined.

  • Until now, it was diIliculi to overproduce lignin peroxidase(LiP) fiom Pl~anemchaete ch~ysosporium since the lack of optimized growth conditions. In this paper, we optimized the LIP production conditions and monitored LIP isozyines of fl chqsospoi.ium PSBL-1. The optimized condition includes sponge matrix support, no addition of $MnSO_4$, excess addition of niixogen source(48 inM diarmnonium), and addition of stabilizer(2 mM verakyl alcohol). Finally we obtained Lip activity of 1,800 unitsll. HI isozyne was overproduced when inyceliuin was cultivated in media containing $Mn^{2+}$ (2.73 inM) and excess nitrogen(48 11d4 diannnonium). Three azo dyes(acid yellow 9, congo ued, orange IT; each concenimtion of50 $\mu$M) we1-e rapidly decolorized within 2 inins by 0.4 un~t or Lip.

  • Proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is the most promising energy source for the robot applications because it has unique advantages such as high energy density, no power drop during operating, and easy to make compact size. However, PEMFC has intrinsic disadvantages which are delay to start up and difficulty to correspond drastic load changes. These disadvantages can be compensated by hybrid operating with a Li-poly battery. This study is focus to build and understand the hybrid system for the robot system. In this study, we build the PEMFC hybrid system using EOS-320 PEMFC stack, Li-poly battery and G-Philos FDX1-250BU dc-dc converter. The hybrid system is accurately monitored by CAN and RS485. The system was studied under two conditions such as non-loaded and loaded operating conditions. The results show that the system has delay to start up without hybrid operating and it can be compensated with the hybrid operating.
