Properties of Capacity on Carbon Electrode in EC:MA Electrolytes - I. Effect of Mixing Ratio on the Electrochemical Properties - (EC:MA 혼합전해질에서 카본 전극의 용량 특성 - I. 전기화학적 특성에 대한 혼합비의 영향 -)

  • The choice of solvents for electrolytes solutions is very important to improve the characteristics of charge/discharge in the Li-ion battery system. Such solvent systems have been widely investigated as electrolytes for Li-ion batteries. In this paper, the electrochemical properties of the solid electrolyte interphase film formed on carbon anode surface and the solvent decomposition voltage in 1 M LiPF6/EC:MA(x:y) electrolyte solutions prepared from the various mixing volume ratios are investigated by chronopotentiometry, cyclic voltammetry, and impedance spectroscopy. As a result, the solvent decomposition voltages are varied with the ionic conductivity of the electrolyte. Electrochemical properties of the passivation film were different, which are dependent on the mixture ratio of the solvents. Therefore, the most appropriate mixing ratio of EC and MA as a solvent in 1 M $LiPF_6/(EC+MA)$ system for Li-ion battery is approximately 1:3 (EC:MA, volume ratio).

Built-in voltage depending on electrode in organic light-emitting diodes (전극 변화에 따른 유기 발광 소자의 내장 전압)

  • Built-in voltage in organic light-emitting diodes was studied using modulated photocurrent technique ambient conditions. From the bias voltage-dependent photocurrent, built-in voltage of the device is determined. The applied bias voltage when the magnitude of modulated photocurrent is zero corresponds to a built-in voltage. Built-in voltage in the device is generated due to a difference of work function of the anode and cathode. A device was made with a structure of anode/$Alq_3$/cathode to study a built-in voltage. ITO was used as an anode, and Al and LiAl were used as a cathode. A layer thickness of Al and LiAl were 100nm. Obtained built-in voltage is about 1.0V in the Al layer was used as a cathode. The obatined built-in voltage is about 1.6V in the LiAl layer was used as a cathode. The result of built-in voltage is dependent of cathode. We can see that the built-in voltage increase up to 0.4V when the LiAl layer was used as the cathode. These results correspond to the work function of LiAl which is lower than that of Al. As a result, the barrier height for an electron injection from the cathode to the organic layer could be lowered when the LiAl was used as a cathode.

  • The characteristics of composite polymer electrolytes obtained by adding a fine ceramic powder($\gamma-{LiAlO}_{2}$) with a diameter of $1{\mu}$m to a poly(ethylene oxide)/lithium trifluoromethane sulfonate (LiC$F_3$S$O_3$) complex are described in terms of morphological and mechanical behavior. The addition of uniformly dispersed ceramic powder greatly improves the electrical and mechanical properties of solid polymer electrolytes at ambient temperature. For the composite polymer electrolytes under this study, the optimum composition of the $\gamma-{LiAIO}_{2}$ in the composite for maximum ionic conductivity was found to be 20 wt%.

Movements Simulation of Debris Flow for Prediction of Mountain Disasters Risk Zone (산지재해 위험구간 예측을 위한 토석류 흐름 모의)

  • Recently, mountain disasters such as landslides and debris flows have flowed along mountain streams and hit residential areas and roads, increasing damage. In this study, in order to reduce damage and analyze causes of mountain disasters, field surveys and Terrestrial LiDAR terrain analysis were conducted targeting debris flow areas, and debris flow flow processes were simulated using FLO-2D and RAMM models, which are numerical models of debris flows. In addition, the debris flow deposition area was calculated and compared and analyzed with the actual occurrence section. The sedimentation area of the debris flow generation section of the LiDAR scan data was estimated to be approximately 21,336 ㎡, and was analyzed to be 20,425 ㎡ in the FLO-2D simulation and 19,275 ㎡ in the case of the RAMMS model. The constructed topographical data can be used as basic data to secure the safety of disaster risk areas.

  • For the development of hybrid supercapacitor, increasing energy density is one of the most crucial matters. Since the energy density is the function of capacitance and voltage, it is necessary to enhance energy density for increasing capacitance or voltage. For the high working voltage, it was to enforce Li ion free-doping to activated carbon. As a result, initial capacitance has increased by 11% than raw cell. But capacitance has decreased by Li ion re-solution to electrolyte for increase the number of cycle.

  • F.C.M applied from Jin Jung Li to Yang Su Li(660m) in Puk Han River Bridge(1,414m) construction part is a construction method on the double-track construction which is the third section part of work, called Chung Ang Railroad Line(Deok-So${\sim}$Won-Ju). This method is the beginning application on Railroad Bridge. After completing upper slab structure, there are several following works such as setting up ballast, sleepers and laying long rails. So it is important to consider the properties of Railroad Bridge while designing the length of bridge and its single span. After the physical process study the shrinkage and creep of concrete, bending up by prestressing in general PSM bridge, relaxation of tendons as time goes by after post-tension, the conclusion of such a study is applied to the Puk-Han River Bridge in this construction field.

  • Mixed electrolytes formed by the combination of 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imide (BMP-TFSI) ionic liquid and standard liquid electrolyte are prepared and characterized. Linear sweep voltammetry measurements demonstrate that these mixed systems exhibit a wide electrochemical stability window, allowing them to be suitable electrolyte for carbonaceous anode-based lithium-ion batteries. Lithium-ion cells composed of graphite anode and $LiCoO_2$ cathode are assembled using the mixed electrolytes, and their cycling performances are evaluated. The cell containing proper content of BMP-TFSI shows good cycling performance comparable to that of a cell assembled with organic electrolyte. The presence of BMP-TFSI in the mixed electrolyte contributes to the reduction of the flammability of electrolyte solution and the improvement of the thermal stability of charged $Li_{1-x}CoO_2$ in the electrolyte solution.

Ethyl acetate fraction of GGEx18 modulates fatty acid β-oxidizing enzymes (In vitro 동물세포에서 GGEx18의 ethyl acetate 분획물에 의한 지방산 β-산화효소 유전자 발현의 조절)

  • Objectives : This study was undertaken to investigate the effects of the GGEx18 ethyl acetate fraction (EF) on lipid accumulation and gene expression of fatty acid-oxidizing enzymes using 3T3-L1 adipocytes, C2C12 skeletal muscle cells, and NMu2Li liver cells. Methods : PPAR${\alpha}$, AMPK and UCPs transactivation was examined in NMu2Li hepatocytes, C2C12 myocytes, and 3T3-L1 preadipocytes using transient transfection assays. Results : 1. Compared with control, EF significantly increased the mRNA expression of VLCAD in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. 2. Compared with control, EF (0.1 ${\mu}g/ml$) significantly inhibited lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. 3. EF significantly increased the mRNA expression of AMPK${\alpha}$1, AMPK${\alpha}$2 and PPAR${\alpha}$ in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells compared with control. 4. EF significantly increased the mRNA expression of genes involved in fatty acid ${\beta}$-oxidation, such as thiolase, MCAD, and CPT-1 in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells compared with control. 5. EF significantly increased the mRNA expression of UCP2 involved in energy expenditure in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells compared with control. 6. Compared with control, EF (10 ${\mu}g/ml$) significantly inhibited lipid accumulation in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells. 7. EF (10 ${\mu}g/ml$) significantly increased the mRNA expression of ACOX, HD, VLCAD and MCAD in NMu2Li liver cells compared with control. Conclusions : These results suggest that EF may prevent obesity by increasing the mRNA expression of mitochondrial fatty acid ${\beta}$-oxidizing enzymes in 3T3-L1 adipocytes, by not only regulating the fatty acid oxidation through activation of AMPK and PPAR${\alpha}$, but also increasing the UCP2 mRNA expression in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells, and by stimulating the mRNA expression of fatty acid-oxidizing enzymes in NMu2Li liver cells.

  • In this paper, we proposed new method of a bidirectional WDM-PON transmission using suppressed optical carreir(SOC) and reflective semi-conductor optical amplifier(RSOA) based on WDM-PON. while LiNbO3 mach zehnder modulator(LN-MZM) generates 5GHz modulated SOC for uplink at central office(CO), RSOA at CO modulates the downstream data. At optical network units(ONUs), Another RSOA modulates the SOC light source for uplink at ONU and uplink data are up-converted to the 5 GHz already modulated SOC using LN-MZM.
