Smartphones are representative multimedia devices capable of various functions that have emerged due to the development of information communication technologies (ICTs). The popularization of smartphones has changed the way ICTs media is used; consequnetly, it is expected that smartphones will influence family life by changing family communications and time use. However, there is a gap between the empirical research on ICTs media and family. This study explores any correlations in the amount of time spent on smartphones between a husband and wife. We marged 1,444 married couples' media diaries from the 8th Korean Media Panel Survey (2017) to analyze the average amount of time spent on communications and leisure shopping using smartphones. The results show that husbands' time use for communication has increased similarly to wives' time use. In addition, husbands' time use for leisure and shopping was positively related to wives' time spent on communications and leisure shopping. The findings show that the use of smartphones is interrelated within the family and suggested that a family systems approach is needed in ICTs media research. Future studies will provide a deeper understanding of the impact of ICTs media and how families are using a variety of ICTs media devices such as smartphones.

The purpose of this study was to explore leisure constraints and the strategies to overcome leisure constraints of career women, and to examine the difference in leisure constraints and leisure constraints negotiation strategies between married and unmarried career women. In Seoul, a total of 440 career women selected using the cluster quota sampling method participated in the current study. Finally, 433 responded data with the exception of 7 unreliable surveys were employed for the analyses such as frequency, exploratory factor, reliability analysis, and t-test. Main findings were as follows; First, six factors including interpersonal, intrapersonal, time, expense and information, environmental, and physical constraints were extracted for career women. Environment and time commonly constrained their participation in leisure activities the most. Second, five factors including skill acquisition, finding alternative activity, control intensity, finding partners, and financial and time management strategies were extracted for them. Third, there were the differences in time and physical constraints between two groups and married career women's constraints were higher than singles. Finally, there was the difference in skill acquisition strategy and married career women's it was higher than the other group.

The purpose of this study is to develop the Leisure Obsession Scale and examine the validity of the scale. The Leisure Obsession Scale was developed and identified its validity by exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and correlation analysis. The Leisure Obsession Scale consists of two factors, which are 'Leisure Preoccupation' and 'Leisure Stereotype'. Those two factors indicated the reasonable fit index by confirmatory factor analysis. In addition, this scale displayed discriminant validity via measurement of obsession, workaholism, leisure anxiety, and leisure constraint. Also, the results of criterion validation analysis shows that the Leisure Obsession Scale and its subscale are correlated with measure of age, leisure information searching, intention of participation to new leisure activities, and intention of increase in leisure time. Conceptualizing leisure obsession and exploring components of leisure obsession would be valuable for understanding the nature of leisure obsession and its effects on leisure satisfaction, and suggesting more effective psychological intervention in a diverse population.

The purpose of this study was to explore leisure policies of Lee Myung-Bak government and to extract directions of the polices for the future. A report from task force team for undertaking the 17th presidency and 100 policies of the government were analyzed. As a result, three problems were extracted: lack of awareness for the needs of leisure policy; lack of policies for development of creative leisure culture and contents; none of any base project for leisure policy development. Three policy directions were extracted from the three problems: change of awareness of the leisure; building up creative leisure culture development atmosphere; making up base for leisure policy development. The time is changing steadily forward leisure life. Therefore, this government need to drive forward more advanced leisure policy than now.

This study analyzed the impact of leisure activities on school life satisfaction in the cultural rights and self-determination of teenagers who spend most of their time in school in the college entrance exam-oriented climate, and examined the effects of happiness and life satisfaction on the school life satisfaction through a process macro applying Bias Corrected Bootstrapping in these relationships. For research purposes, 2,590 cohorts in the first year of the 2018 Korea Children and Youth Panel Survey were analyzed through process macros. The result was that leisure life had a significant effect on school life satisfaction. It was also found that happiness and satisfaction in life affect satisfaction, and happiness and satisfaction in life affect satisfaction in school life and serve as a medium. This study confirmed that teenagers' participation in leisure activities greatly affects school life satisfaction and that happiness and life satisfaction have a mediating effect on school life satisfaction. In addition, we could recognize the importance of leisure activities to the satisfaction of school life of teenagers, and find it necessary to develop and provide various program graphs of schools and communities for happiness and satisfaction in life. This study verified that the participation of leisure activities of adolescents has a significant effect on school life satisfaction, and that happiness and life satisfaction have a mediating effect on school life satisfaction. In addition, we could recognize the importance of leisure activities to the satisfaction of school life of teenagers, and find it necessary to develop and provide various program graphs of schools and communities for happiness and satisfaction in life. Therefore, this research is believed to be possible to contribute to academic and practical programs for youth leisure activities and school life relationships, and to make policy suggestions for the development and participation of various leisure activities in order to fully enjoy and protect youth's rights to culture and self-determination of leisure activities.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of the changes between leisure and social activities, life satisfaction, and happiness of the disabled according to the time before and after COVID-19, and to examine the moderating effect of living alone. For the analysis, the data of 3,773 persons from the employment panel for the disabled were used for the analysis, and as a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the decrease in leisure and social activities further reinforced the decrease in life satisfaction, and consequently the decrease in happiness also increased. In addition, it was found that the effect of leisure social activities on life satisfaction increases according to living alone. In other words, the decrease in leisure and social activities of the disabled led to a decrease in life satisfaction and decreased happiness. Through these results, although social distancing is important, support such as online gatherings, participation in cultural and artistic activities, and education is necessary as an intervention in reducing leisure and social activities, which can be an important protective factor in the lives of the disabled. Furthermore, it was suggested that screening for mental health and intervention for persons with disabilities living alone are necessary in case management of persons with disabilities.

With enforcement of five-day workweek system, leisure time for family has increased. However, there is imbalance between demand and supply of leisure because of the absence of proper way for spending leisure time with family. On the other hand, TV, which has been playing an important role as a media for family, shows new possibility of interaction with advent of Smart TV. With this tendency, now it could be an appropriate time for researching the healthy way to spend leisure time on weekend with family. Therefore this paper aims to propose a family farming contents called 'Our Farm', which links on-line and off-line. To firm up necessity and appropriateness of this paper, I analyzed existing thesis and games for family and did FGI(Focus Group Interview) with a family. In this research, I proposed the picture UI based on results of investigation.

This study focused on the system regarding leave of absence in relation to family welfare, which has become a routine in some western countries, in three different perspectives. Those were the relations between reduced working hours and quality of life, maternal recreation, and finally, relations between infrastructure of vacation and culture. Systematic settlement of reduced working hours and maternal recreation in Germany allowed more time among family members and made large contribution to the improvement of family welfare in general. Since the stability of society is strongly based on the stability of family, Germany deserved to be case-studied as a good model. The recent tendency shows that Korean workers are starting to spend more time with their own family members than with their colleagues, and, as seen in the case of Germany, the stability of family welfare will improve if various infrastructures for family leisure are properly established in Korea.

Purpose - The purpose of this research is to explore the determinants of marriage intention for Korean youth. Because Korean society is under the population decline, inspecting influential attributes become worthy. Design/methodology/approach - This study employed Korean Youth panel data. The determinants of marriage intention include subjective health, leisure time, Schwabe index, culture recreation ratio, and Engel coefficient. This study performed binary logistic regression to test the hypotheses. Findings - The results indicate that subjective health and leisure time positively impact on the likelihood of marriage intention. However, culture recreation ratio and Engel coefficient negatively affect the likelihood of marriage intention. Schwabe index exerts no significant effect on marriage intention. Research implications or Originality - The results could become useful information to build policy to solve the population decline problem

In previous Cost-of-Illness (COI) studies, the economic impact of lost leisure time of patients has been mostly underexplored. Furthermore, few studies have focused on chronic or severe diseases, thereby inadequately addressing the segment of self-care patients who do not fall into the categories of inpatients or outpatients. In the present study, we used a comprehensive approach to calculate the annual cost of leisure loss, incorporating factors such as employment status, self-care options, and total period of leisure activity disruption. This required analyzing data from various sources, including health and labor statistics, and applying methods to accurately assess the leisure time lost due to food poisoning. The findings showed that the annual cost of leisure loss for South Korean patients with food poisoning is significant, amounting to approximately 784.5 billion KRW (702.8 million USD, USD/KRW : 1128.34). This study revealed that overlooking self-care patients and not accounting for the affected time in addition to treatment time and employment status significantly underestimated these costs. This study highlights the importance of considering a wider range of factors, including self-care, employment status, as well as the entire affected period, in assessing the societal impact of diseases such as food poisoning. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and healthcare professionals to understand the broader economic implications of illness and allocate healthcare resources more effectively.
