The purpose of this study was to predict abdominal obesity with 3-Dimensional computed tomography (3D CT) measurements of kidneys by analyzing the correlation between kidney sizes and abdominal obesity level. The subjects were 178 healthy adults without underlying diseases who had a comprehensive health examination at the Health Medical Center of Jesus Hospital in Jeonju. Abdominal obesity was measured by CT cross-sectional image at the level of the umbilicus and divided into visceral fat area, subcutaneous fat area, visceral fat/total fat ratio. The average comparison of kidney sizes classified according to abdominal obesity were performed through one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Scheffe test. Pearson correlation analysis was performed to correlate all measurement values. The results of kidney size ANOVA analysis according to abdominal obesity were as follows. The means of kidney measurements according to visceral fat classification were significantly different in all kidney measurements (p<0.05). And in case of subcutaneous fat classification, the means of kidney measurements by 3D CT of the severe obesity group were significantly different in the right kidney width (p<0.05). In case of visceral fat area/total fat area ratio, the means of kidney measurements by 3D CT of the severe obesity group were significantly different in both kidneys width (p<0.05). Pearson correlation between kidneys measurements and CT abdominal obesity showed that visceral fat area had the highest correlation with the left kidney width measured by 3D CT (r=0.467) and subcutaneous fat area had correlation with the right kidney width measured by 3D CT (r=0.249). The visceral fat area/total fat area ratio had correlation with the left kidney width measured by 3D CT (r=0.291).
Regional cerebral perfusion was evaluated in 15 normal controls by single photon emission computed tomography using $^{99m}Tc$ HM-PAO. For quantitative analysis, 13 pairs of homologous region of interest (ROI) were drawn on three transverse slices matching the vascular territories and cerebral cortices, and normal values of 3 semiqunatitative indices including 'Right to left ratio'(R/L ratio), 'Regional index'(RI), and 'Region to cerebellum ratio'(R/cbll ratio) were calculated. Mean values of R/L ratios of homotogous regions were ranged from 0.985 to 1.023, and mean ${\pm}2$ s.d. of all regions did not exceed 11% of mean. Significant difference of RIs (mean count per voxel of a ROI/mean count per voxel of total ROIs) between regions were found (p<0.001) with highest values in occipital cortex and cerebellum. After attenuation correction, RIs in deep gray, cranial portion of anterior cerebral artery and vascular territories in the 2nd slice increased significantly (p < 0.05-0.001), but vise versa in other ROIs. Region to cerebellum ratios also showed regional difference similar to RIs.

The subjects of this study were 15 woman soccer players and 15 untrained woman students at H-Cheju University. Each subject was measured on the muscle strength and peak torque of knee extensors and knee flexors with isokinetic load ($60^{\circ}$/sec, $180^{\circ}$/sec). The results were as follows: 1. There was no significant difference between right and left leg strength measured isokinetically in each group. 2. The peak torque of knee extensors and flexors was significantly higher in scoccer players than untrainded students (p<0.001). 3. For the angle of knee joint showing the highest peak torque, there was significant difference between soccer players and untrained students in knee extensors(p<0.05) and right flexors (p<0.01). 4. For knee H/Q ratio, there was significant difference between two groups(p<0.05). 5. For the total work and average power at $180^{\circ}$/sec, there was significant difference between two groups in knee extensors(p<0.001) and flexors(p<0.01). 6. In soccer players at $60^{\circ}$/sec, there were significant correlations between peak torque and height and between peak torque and weight.(p<0.001). 7. For the muscular contraction velocity at $60^{\circ}$/sec, there was significant difference between two groups in flexors (p<0.01). 8. For the muscular indurance at $180^{\circ}$/sec in extensors and flexors, there was no significant difference between two groups(p<0.05). In conclusion, there were significantly higher in peak torque, contraction velocity, knee joint's angle with the highest peak torque, H/Q ratio, total work and average power in woman scoccer player than general students. But there was no significant difference in muscular endurance. Soccer performance is based on the various components including muscular endurance that is one of the most important components. So it is necessary that the training method to improve the various components (especially including muscular endurance) should be done.
Purpose: This study aimed to improve the asymmetrical weight-bearing ratio, by applying different repetitive sit-to-stand training methods to the paretic-side foot of hemiplegic patients, as well as to provide the necessary information for applying balance training with hemiplegic patients. Methods: The subjects were divided into two groups: a spontaneous foot group and an asymmetrical foot group. They all performed repetitive sit-to-stand training five times a week for a total of six weeks. The sit-to-standing movement was studied using standardized clinical tests. The Biodex Balance System, Time up and go test (TUG), 5 times sit-to-stand test (5XSST), and functional reach test (FRT) were used to measure the static and dynamic standing balance of the patients. Results: In the balance system measurement, the results for the overall index, ant-post index, med-lat index, fall risk index, 5XSST, and FRT after the training differed significantly between the comparison groups (p<0.05). In the evaluation of dynamic balance, the differences in TUG did not differ significantly between the comparison groups after the training (p>0.05). Conclusion: The study found that the asymmetrical group showed significant increases in static and dynamic balance in comparison to the spontaneous group after repetitive sit-to-stand training. Based on this result, it is clear that training in an asymmetrical position with the paretic foot back can increase the left-right stability limit and the anterior-posterior stability limit, thus improving balance control.
A lipomatous lesion of the cord is an accidentally encountered structure during the operative repair of inguinal hernia. This lesion has been reported as a lipoma of the cord in adults. However, there is only a limited number of reports in the pediatric age group. To evaluate the prevalence of this lesion in children and in order to review the surgical signiticancies, 600 hernia operations in 411 children during a period of 4 years from January, 2000 to December, 2003 in the Division of Pediatric Surgery, Department of Surgery, the Catholic University of Korea, were included in this study. There was a total of 31 (5.2 %) lipomatous lesions in 25 (6.1 %) cases; 3 cases in infants, 17 between 1 to 4 years, and 5 above 5 years of age. Male was more prevalent (male to female ratio 14:11). The laterality of clinical hernia with the lesions was 10 in the right, 13 in the left and 2 in both sides. The patients with ipsilateral lesions to the hernia were 14, contralateral in 5 and bilateral in 6 cases. Excluding 1 case of bilateral lesions in bilateral hernia, 10 lesions were contralateral to the clinical hernias. In 1 case, lipomatous lesion was the sole finding with nonsignificant patent processus vaginalis. Every lesion was suture ligated and resected with gentle traction of the dissected hernia sac. It has not been clearly defined whether the lesion is a stopper or a provocator of the hernia development. However, removal is highly recommended to make a differential diagnosis from the recurrent inguinal hernia in future. The term "lipomatous lesion" seems to be pathologically accurate and must be differentiate from the true lipomas.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of Lactobacillus plantarum FH185 on the reduction of adipocyte size and gut microbial changes in mice with diet-induced obesity. The strain was found to have a lipase inhibitory activity of 70.09±2.04% and inhibited adipocyte differentiation of 3T3-L1 cells (18.63±0.98%) at a concentration of 100 µg/mL. To examine the effect of the strain supplementation on gut microbial changes in mice with diet-induced obesity, male C57BL/6J mice were fed on four different diets (i.e., A, normal diet (ND); B, high-fat diet (HFD); C, HFD with ABT-3 (109 CFU/day); and D, HFD with L. plantarum FH185 (109 CFU/day)) for 6 wk. According to the results of fecal pyrosequencing, the ratio of Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes in groups C and D was lower than in the control groups at the phylum level. At the family level, Lactobacillaceae in groups C and D was observed to dominate, while Lachnospiraceae in groups A and B was observed to dominate. At the genus level, Lactobacillus in groups C and D was comparatively higher than in groups A and B. To examine the effects of strain supplementation on the reduction of adipocyte size, the left and right epididymal fat pads were quickly isolated after the animals were sacrificed, and the adipocyte sizes were measured. In groups A, C and D, the percentage of 2,000 m2 of adipocyte was higher than in the other size of adipocyte, while the percentage of over 5,000 m2 of adipocyte was highest in group B. The mean adipocyte size of group D was significantly larger than that of group A, but smaller than that of group B.

So far today, there is a speed limit by the radius of curve based on operation regulation in domestic railway, however a study for the maximum running speed at the curved section without any derailment would be necessary. The two major factors related to the running safety of railway vehicle are classified as the railway vehicle condition and the track condition. In terms of the rail inclination among many other factors, the determination of rail inclination within the possible limit is necessary for the geometrical structure of the optimum track. The disregard of the geometrical parameter related to the rail inclination may cause a serious problem to the running safety of railway vehicle. This study is focusing on the analyzing of running safety regard to the change of rail inclination among the many other parameters to improve derailment safety, so that there is an affection analysis of the running safety regard to the change of rail inclination in the ideal and geometric track condition. Also There is an affection analysis of the running safety regard to the simultaneous change of rail inclination and the running speed at the curved section. According to analysis results of running safety, In case that the left and right rail inclination are 1/40, the running safety of this condition defined than other conditions. Also, the rail inclination of conventional lines is 1/40, Therefore, the railway vehicle passing through curve is safe when the railway vehicle runs in conventional lines.
Preauricular sinus and preauricular skin tag are common childhood congenital anomalies. It is important for the pediatric surgeon to be familiar with the embryology and differentiation of head and neck structure to accurately diagnose and treat these lesions. Seventy eight patients with preauricular sinus and twenty-eight with preauricular skin tag treated in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Hanyang University Hospital from January 1981 to May 2002 were reviewed to determine relative frequency, clinical classification and appropriate treatment. The male to female ratio of preauricular sinus was 1:1.2, and preauricular skin tag was 1:1. The most commonly presenting age of sinus and skin tag was before 5 year (62.8%) and before 1 year (53.6%). Twenty nine of 78 cases of preauricular sinuses were on the left, 25 on the right and 24 bilateral. Signs of infection were seen in 73.0% of patients with preauricular sinus at operation. Only 31.3% of lesions were infected in patients less than one year of age, but 89.5% between 3-5 years and 100% between 5-8 years. Cartilage was present in five patients with preauricular skin tag. Although re-operation due to wound infection was necessary in four cases, no recurrences were found. The preauricular sinus is a common anomaly in childhood, and has had a relatively high recurrence rate. But most of the recurrences were due to incomplete resection because of combined infection. Initial proper diagnosis and early operation are very important. Identification of the exact anatomical location of sinus tract is necessary because total excision of the lesions including those tracts is the only way to prevent recurrence.

Objective : Subsidence is a frequent complication of anterior cervical discectomy and fusion. Postoperative segmental micromotion, thought to be a causative factor of subsidence, has been speculated to increase with uncinate process resection area (UPR). To evaluate the effect of UPR on micro-motion, we designed a method to measure UPR area based on pre- and postoperative computed tomography images and analyzed the relationship between UPR and subsidence as a proxy of micro-motion. Methods : We retrospectively collected clinical and radiological data from January 2011 to June 2016. A total of 38 patients (53 segments) were included. All procedures included bilateral UPR and anterior plate fixation. UPR area was evaluated with reformatted coronal computer tomography images. To reduce level-related bias, we converted UPR area to the proportion of UPR to the pre-operative UP area (pUPR). Results : Subsidence occurred in 18 segments (34%) and positively correlated with right-side pUPR, left-side pUPR, and the sum of bilateral pUPR (sum pUPR) (R=0.310, 301, 364; p=0.024, 0.029, 0.007, respectively). Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that subsidence could be estimated with the following formula : $subsidence=1.522+2.7{\times}sum\;pUPR$($R^2=0.133$, p=0.007). Receiver-operating characteristic analysis determined that sum $pUPR{\geq}0.38$ could serve as a threshold for significantly increased risk of subsidence (p=0.005, area under curve=0.737, sensitivity=94%, specificity=51%). This threshold was confirmed by logistic regression analysis for subsidence (p=0.009, odds ratio=8.471). Conclusion : The UPR measurement method confirmed that UPR was correlated with subsidence. Particularly when the sum of pUPR is ${\geq}38%$, the possibility of subsidence increased.
