Kinetics and Mechanism of the Pyridinolysis of Aryl Phenyl Chlorothiophosphates in Acetonitrile

  • Kinetic studies for the reactions of Y-aryl phenyl chlorothiophosphates with X-pyridines have been carried out in acetonitrile at $35.0^{\circ}C$. The Hammett and Bronsted plots for substituent X variations in the nucleophiles are biphasic concave upwards with a break point at X = 3-Ph, while the Hammett plots for substituent Y variations in the substrates are biphasic concave downwards (and partially upwards) with a break point at Y = H. The signs and magnitudes of the cross-interaction constant (${\rho}_{XY}$) are strongly dependent upon the nature of substituents, X and Y. The proposed mechanism is a stepwise process with a rate-limiting step change from bond breaking with the weaker electrophiles to bond formation with the stronger eletrophiles. The nonlinear free energy correlations of biphasic concave upward plots for substituent X variations in the nucleophiles are rationalized by a change in the attacking direction of the nucleophile from a backside with less basic pyridines to a frontside attack with more basic pyridines.

  • The techniques extract shape descriptors from 3D models and use these descriptors for indices for comparing shape similarities. Most similarity search techniques focus on comparisons of each individual 3D model from databases. However, our similarity search technique can compare not only each individual 3D model, but also partial shape similarities. The partial shape matching technique extends the user's query request by finding similar parts of 3D models and finding 3D models which contain similar parts. We have implemented an experimental partial shape-matching search system for 3D pagoda models, and preliminary experiments show that the system successfully retrieves similar 3D model parts efficiently.

Research of luminescent characteristics of ZnS:CuCl powder electroluminescent device according to the doping concentration of CuCl and frequency of the applied voltage (ZnS:Cu,Cl 후막형 전계 발광 소자의 CuCl 첨가량과 인가 전압의 진동수에 따른 발광 특성 연구)

  • ZnS:Cu,Cl 형광체의 여기 및 발광 스펙트럼 측정 결과 주게인 $Cl^-$ 이온과 받게인 $Cu^+$ 이온 사이의 흡수와 발광에 기인하는 peak과 국소화된 발광 중심인 $(CU_2)^{2+}$ 이온의 흡수와 발광에 기인하는 peak이 관측되었다. CuCl의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 $Cu^+$ 이온의 농도가 증가하게 되어 $(Cu_2)^{2+}$ 이온에 기안하는 발광으로부터 공명 에너지 전달 (Resonant Energy Transfer)의 확률이 높아지기 때문에 513 nm를 중심으로 하는 발광의 세기가 증가하게 된다. 자체 제작한 ZnS:Cu,Cl 형광체를 이용하여 제작한 소자의 휘도 측정결과 400 Hz, 100 V 에서 CuCl 의 첨가량이 0.2 mole% 일 때 휘도가 최대였고, 진동수가 증가함에 따라 휘도가 포화되는 현상이 나타났다. CuCl의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 513 nm를 중심으로 하는 발광이 강해지고 CIE 좌표값이 녹색영역으로 이동하게 된다. 진동수가 증가하면 인가된 전압의 유지 시간이 짧아지게 되어 발광의 감쇄시간이 긴 513 nm를 중심으로 하는 발광보다 감쇄시간이 짧은 458 nm를 중심으로 하는 발광이 강해지게 되고, CIE 좌표값이 청색영역으로 이동하게 된다.

  • The purpose of the study is to devise syllabus in which traditional textbooks were rearranged by van Hiele Level theory and van Hiele instruction step 5 was applied to syllabus which used computer software, GSP especially in step 2 for students who studied properties and relations of the figure. Another purpose is to analyze the van Hiele Level distribution and find out how significant improvement syllabus based instruction could make compared with the traditional classes using textbooks. The results of the study revealed that more than half of the students were less than Level 1 in the comparative group but more than half of the students have reached Level 3 in the experimental group. And improvement of van Hiele Level was significant in syllabus based classes compared with traditional classes using textbooks by the Welch-Aspin tests and Chi-squared tests.

  • 외부 조인은 조인에 참여하는 릴레이션들에서 조인 조건을 만족하지 않는 한쪽 또는 양쪽 튜플들도 결과로 반환하는 조인 연산으로 OLAP 질의 처리, 계층적 뷰 처리, 중첩 질의 처리 등의 다양한 고급 데이타베이스 응용에서 널리 사용된다. 많은 상용 DBMS에서 외부 조인을 지원하고 있으나, 상세한 구현 방법은 공개되어 있지 않다. 본 논문에서는 한국과학기술원 멀티미디어 및 데이타베이스 연구실에서 개발하고 있는 오디세우스 객체관계형 DBMS를 위한 외부 조인을 설계하고 구현한다. 본 논문에서는 거의 모든 DBMS에서 제공 되는 가장 기본적인 조인 방법인 중첩 루프 조인 알고리즘을 확장하여 외부 조인 연산을 구현한다. 그리고, 외부 조인이 포함된 질의를 최적화하기 위해 조인 연산의 결과를 임시 릴레이션에 저장하는 대신에 다음 조인 연산의 입력으로 파이프라이닝시키는 것을 최대화 하는 방법을 제안한다.

  • A holonomic drive can provide rotational and translational acceleration simultaneously in any direction. For this reason the holonomic drive technology is very desirable in creating motion for any mobile platform and has many promising mobility applications in the field of robotics and automation where manipulability is critical issue especially when the mobile system is operated in obstacle prone environment. In this paper a pragmatic methodology for realizing a holonomic drive system using multiple servo-casters is presented. The steering and driving of each servo-caster is controlled such that they are coordinated with the motions of other servo-casters in order to realize holonomic motion. This paper also proposes algorithms for varying manipulability as operation situation demands.

The Effect of Scattering Dose on the Thyroid During Mammography (Mammography시 Thyroid에 미치는 산란선량에 관한 연구)

  • This study examined the effect of the scattering dose on the thyroid during a mammography examination. One hundred subjects for a mammography examination were enrolled in this study. The average glandular dose (AGD) and thyroid scattering dose (TSD) were measured. Statistical analysis was carried out using the percentage, t-test and co-variance. The mean radiation exposure to the breast and thyroid was $1.08{\pm}0.16$ and $0.14{\pm}0.04$ mGy, respectively. The percentage TSD to the AGD was 31.19%. There was no difference between the Rt. and Lt., and CC to MLO, and radiation dose to the TSD was 13.78% of the breast. Therefore, the volume of radiation exposure to the thyroid was 54.12% in a single routine mammography examination. These results suggest that the TSD was increased by increasing radiation dose to the breast. A thyroid protector is considered necessary to decrease the level of radiation exposure.

  • This paper proposes a linear distributed target tracking filter for multiple unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs) sharing their passive sensor measurements through communication channels. Different from the conventional nonlinear filtering schemes, the distributed passive target tracking problem is newly formulated within the framework of a linear robust state estimation theory incorporated with a linear uncertain measurement equation including the coordinate transform uncertainty. To effectively cope with the performance degradation due to the coordinate transform uncertainty, a linear consistent robust Kalman filter(CRKF) theory is devised and applied for designing a distributed passive target tracking filter. Through the simulations for typical UAV surveillance mission, the superior performance of the proposed method over the existing schemes of distributed passive target tracking are demonstrated.

  • This paper investigates the effect of household formation on the mapping from wage inequality to income inequality, which usually is smaller than the former. Added workers, income pooling among household members, and shared consumption are the factors that make income distribution less inequal than wage distribution, and the effect of income pooling appears to be the greatest. This suggests than the increase in nuclear families and the resulting increase of old families have a potential effect of worsening income inequality at the absence of sufficient private income transfers among the two households. A simple counter-factual estimate indicates that income pooling among the children's and parents' households can efficiently and sizeably reduce income inequality.

  • The concrete lining in tunnel performs structural and nonstructural functions. The concrete lining works as a structural member for released load and residual water pressure in NATM tunnel system. Also concrete lining used for finishing the tunnel surface. The initial crack of concrete lining is reported because of difficulties in construction process, which concrete is injected into 30$\sim$40cm narrow gap between lining form and tunnel surface through 500${\times}$600mm small injection holes in the form. In this paper, we research a reason of initial crack occurrence by the case study of 4 lane wide span tunnel, and propose an improved method for crack minimization in construction process. We verify that the proposed method can give qualified concrete lining by carrying out the concrete injection model test and the numerical analysis of concrete flow.
