Purification ana properties of alkaline pretense produced by Bacillus sp. KCTC 1723

  • Alkaline protease which is an important enzyme used in detergents, leather tanning and food industry was produced by alkalophilic bacterium, Bacillus sp. KCTC 1723 isolated from soil. The maximum productivity of the enzyme in alkaline medium containing 1% sodium bicarbonate was obtained by incubating for 3 days at 37$^{\circ}C$. The optimum pH of the enzyme was 11.5 and calcium ion was effective on stabilization of the enzyme at high temperature. The enzyme was not inhibited by metal chelating agent such as El)TA but inhibited by diisopropyl fluorophosphate. Purification of the enzyme was carried out DEAE- and CM-cellulose column chromatographies and molecular weight of the purified enzyme was determined

한국제조업의 대미 수출경쟁력 변화분석 (An Analysis on Export Competitiveness of Korea Manufacturing Industries in the U.S.A. Market)

  • Though weight manufacturing has in national gross production is decreasing, it has still a decisive role in economic growth of Korea, and foreign competitiveness of manufacturing has a great influence on our whole economy. Therefore, as this study speculates export competitiveness of manufacturing item by item, the results can be used for selection of strategic export-oriented products. The results of the analysis are summarized as follows: first, products that are found as competitive through analysis of trade specialization indexes are plastic, rubber, fabric, home electronic appliances, computers, communication equipment, automobiles and their spare parts. Second, electronic-electric industry such as semi-conduits, communication equipment, home electronics, computers was decided as advantageous through analysis of comparative advantages at present, while paper, print and publishing, and leather industries were classified as comparatively disadvantageous. Its political implications are presented as follows: Private corporations should develop more advanced technology and government should give more support to secure export competitiveness of manufacturing toward America. Governmental policies should be prepared to induce consistent and daring investment to technology-intensive products for export products with high-added value.

  • 본 연구에서는 천연피혁제조공장에서 발생하는 대표적인 악취성분인 황화수소, 암모니아 및 benzene을 활성슬러지에서 획득한 혼합균주와 황산화균인 Thiobacillus sp.IW가 동시에 접종된 생물막반응기를 이용하여 효과적으로 제거하고자 하였다. Benzene의 경우 단일 및 복합성분의 악취에 대해 90%의 제거효율을 유지하였고, 암모니아는 99%의 아주 우수한 제거효율을 나타내었으나, 황화수소의 경우 처리효율은 85%정도로 다른 성분에 비해 낮았다.

  • A 2-dimensional scanner have been generally used for an office, but 3-dimensional one was seldom used in industry. A footwear bonding process has been operated manually by the skilled operators, but it is needed to be operated automatically. So we developed an automatic outsole profile scanner, which consists of PC, CCD camera, laser beam diode and moving mechanism, to scan automatically the 3-dimensional profile of outsole inner face to be bonded. Here the developed algorithm makes 2D image into 3D outsole profile. This profile will be used enough to bond automatically the outsole to something like leather or clothes.

The Influence of Sustainability and Social Responsibility on Fashion Trends

  • The purpose of this study was first, to examine the causes for the recent acceleration in the increase of textile/apparel waste and the current practices for reducing waste in the global textile and apparel industry; and second, to explore the influence of sustainability and social responsibility on fashion trends. Extensive literature on sustainable apparel and sustainable and socially responsible practices by global textile and apparel firms was reviewed in conducting this research. First, an accelerated fashion diffosion speed due to fast fashion was focused on as a cause for the increase in textile/apparel waste whereas mass customization was focused on as a potential solution for reducing waste. Then, the influence of the social trend toward sustainability and social responsibility on fashion trends was discussed, particularly the trends toward green products and recycled fashion, the trend against using real for or leather, and minimum-fabric-waste fashion in design and product development. This study furthers consumers' understanding of sustainability and social responsibility related to fashion trends and hopefully increases their consciousness in becoming socially responsible consumers. This study will also contribute to better decision-making in apparel and textile firms to produce sustainable fashion products.

  • Bauhaus, founded in Weimar, Germany in 1919, represented Modernism which is proven in the field of art as well as architecture. Furthermore, in design field, Bauhaus is the essential historical event whose influence continues in contemporary design. Bauhaus furniture is simple and austere and has linear shapes which are suitable for mass production. Bauhaus developed functional furniture design such as knock-down and pre-fabricated furniture. In terms of finishes, Bauhaus furniture epitomizes the influence of De Stijl which used either achromatic colors and three primary colors or natural finishes of wood. Bauhaus contributed to furniture design field as below. 1. Success in mass-produced furniture through standardization and pre-fabrication 2. 슬래셔 영화에 나타난 사이코패스의 분장 코디네이션 연구 (A Study of Psychopaths' Make-up Coordination Expressed on the Slasher Films)

  • The purpose of this paper is to show how psychopaths' psychological factors are expressed on the characters' visual styles in the make-up coordination of slasher films. Psychopath is an ordinary person who has suffered some terrible trauma (humiliation, the death of a loved one, rape, psychological abuse), and features a disorder that consists of multiple components ranging on the emotional, interpersonal, and behavioral spectrum. Slasher films are sub genre of horror films that psychopathy characters, namely, Leather Face, Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Kenny Hampson, Harry Warden, Freddy Kruger and Billy kill the unfamiliar victims by cruel weapons with mercilessly. Their aesthetic characteristics of make-up coordination were shown in concealment, cruelty and suggestion. The concealment was presented by killers' masks, the cruelty was represented by their weapons, and the suggestion, especially space-time and status was depicted by their garments.

Qualitative Study on the Benefit Sought and Brand Loyalty by Product Category of the Luxury Goods Through In-depth Interviews with Professionals in Fashion Industry

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the benefits sought by luxury good customers contingent on product category, and to understand the relationship between the benefits sought and brand loyalty. A qualitative approach was used; therefore in-depth interviews were conducted with seven panels of professionals in the luxury industry. The findings are as follows: 1) Handbag customers mainly seek the social benefits in order to express their social status by purchasing well-known, easily-recognizable brands. 2) Shoe customers primarily seek the practical-functional benefits, which are comfort and function. 3) Small Leather Goods customers seek the social benefits for themselves and as gifts for others. 4) Brand loyalty for handbag customers is reported to be low, as their primary goals are the social benefits. Rather than devoting themselves to one specific brand, handbag customers prefer to purchase from various brands. 5) Shoe customers have reportedly higher brand loyalty, as they tend to come back to brands when they are satisfied with the benefits they pursue. The findings of this study provide more information on the practical implications of luxury good customer purchasing habits. Firstly, customers pursue different benefits depending on product category, and secondly, brand loyalty differs by customers' benefits.

  • As the interest in environmental pollution resulting from recent industrial development is converging, wastewater treatment problem of dying processing is one of important pending issue. Usually, flow mediation earth and settling pond etc. of processing plant to handle water or wastewater. Mediation is the wastewater that flowed past settling pond than material of heavy particles, water weight colloid particles that big solids are removed but are suspensibility material settlement exclusion impossible. So, we need flocculation and coagulation action to remove materials from this colloid state. For flocculation and coagulation action chemical agents to add back, addition of chemical agents forms floc of could settle size. That is, shorten the sedimentation time and quality of processing water because promoting sedimentation doing to do fines or suspended solids and colloid can materials large size and also, flocculation to annex efficiency of filtration augment. Therefore, I executed this research to prove that improving organic matter and chromaticity of treated water of processing epochally using organic coagulant informed positive ion co-polymerization superior in color wastewater through this research.

사례연구를 통한 패션산업에서의 '리디자인'에 관한 고찰 (Consideration on 'Redesign' in Fashion Industry Through Case Studies)

  • Modem society has reached the level where its environmental pollution is in a critical stage, and socio-political focus has been moved onto the minimization of environmental pollution. In the fashion industry, ethical production and consumption for the global protection has become the value to aim for. The purpose of this study is to establish the concept of redesigned fashion, which is a type of designing method designed to reduce global waste, and conduct a case studies on it to analyze its patterns. Environmental-friendly redesigned fashion concept is about remaking a fashion with totally different function, using disposed and wornout items from everyday lives. It is a fashion design minimizing raw materials and reducing industrial wastes. The types of redesigned fashion may be divided into three patterns: first, there is a method to recreate collar, sleeves, cuffs, pocket and other usable pieces of old clothing to make a new one. Second method is about taking out usable parts of textile from various old clothing and make a new one with patchwork method. Third is about making a purse or fashion accessories using paper, vinyl, aluminum can or worn out leather. Fourth is about making a new artistic fashion by applying tearing, punching, fringing, mashing, and layering techniques. This study aim5 to help in spreading out and applying systematic practice of redesigned fashion for companies, and elaborate the sense of social responsibility for customers, and vitalize the fashion studies for redesigned fashion in academic sense.
