  • In multi-user MIMO systems, a base station transmits multiple data to multi-user simultaneously in order to improve performance and bandwidth efficiency. When the base station transmits multiple data to multi-user simultaneously, multi-user interference occurs severely. In this paper, we define a post-processing leakage as the total power leaked from desired user to all other users after combining at the output of each user. Using concept of the post-processing leakage, we also define a performance metric, the so called signal-to-post-processing-leakage-plus-noise ratio (SPPLNR). Assuming that the receiver is the minimum mean square error (MMSE) receiver, we propose an iterative SPPLNR-based beamforming that determines beamforming vectors and combining vectors by using an iterative method. The proposed scheme does not impose a condition on the relation between the number of transmit antennas for the base station and the number of receive antennas for users. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms a beamforming scheme perfectly eliminating the multi-user interference when channel estimation error exists.

  • In this paper, we consider a precoder design for downlink multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) in distributed antenna systems (DAS). In DAS, remote radio heads (RRHs) are placed at geographically different locations within a cell area. Three different precoder design schemes are proposed to maximize the separate or joint signal-to-leakage-plus-noise ratio (SLNR) metrics by considering RRH sum power or per-RRH power constraints. The analytical closed-form form solution for each optimization problem is presented. Through computer simulation, we show that the joint SLNR based precoding schemes have better signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and bit error rate (BER) performances than the separate SLNR based schemes. Also, it is shown that the precoding scheme with RRH sum power constraint has better performance than the precoding scheme with per-RRH power constraint.

  • This paper presents the spectral analysis and radiation pattern of low-frequency electromagnetic(EM) leakage signals according to the fundamental operations of smartphones. The EM leakage signals generated by the activation of four I/O sensor modules such as a touch-screen, a camera, a microphone and a speaker are captured by the commercial near-field magnetic probe with 1cm spatial resolution. The analysis results show that the leakage of the EM wave occurs strongly around the activated I/O sensor modules, AP(Application Processor) and memory modules. Also, the distinguishable frequency characteristic is shown in each spectrum of EM leakage signals.

  • In this paper, a system of self-interference signal cancelation for in-band full duplex has been implemented and tested in RF/analog region. The system performance has been evaluated with NI5791 platform and NI Flex RIO. Due to the low power level of the NI5791, the RF signal is amplified by SKYWORKS SE2565T power amplifier. A circulator is used to feed the antenna both the transmitter and receiver. The RF FIR filter is designed by twelve delay taps in two different groups, and the interval between each delay tap is designed to have 100 ps. The amplified signal is distributed to antenna and the FIR filter by use of a 10 dB directional coupler. The tap coefficients of the RF FIR filter are tuned to estimate the self-interference signal coming from antenna reflection and the leakage of the circulator, and the self-interference signal is subtracted. The system is test with 802.11a/g 20 MHz OFMD at 2.56 GHz, and the output power of the amplifier of 0 dBm. The self-interference signal is canceled out by 53 dB.

  • A beam design method based on signal-to-leakage-plus-noise ratio (SLNR) has been recently proposed as an effective scheme for multiuser multiple-input multiple-output downlink channels. It is shown that its solution, which maximizes the SLNR at a transmitter, can be simply obtained by the generalized eigenvectors corresponding to the dominant generalized eigenvalues of a pair of covariance matrices of a desired signal and interference leakage plus noise. Under time-varying channels, however, generalized eigendecomposition is required at each time step to design the optimal beam, and its level of complexity is too high to implement in practical systems. To overcome this problem, a predictive beam design method updating the beams according to channel variation is proposed. To this end, the perturbed generalized eigenvectors, which can be obtained by a perturbation theory without any iteration, are used. The performance of the method in terms of SLNR is analyzed and verified using numerical results.

  • There are many electrical accidents between bare wire and line post insulator which is degraded by long time using, causing leakage current on the surface of insulator. In this paper it is presented that the 22.9 Kv-y distribution lines are protected by binding cover which is needed from fog or rainy moisture, surges occurring by switching or lightening pulse. It is analyzed to investigate the unbalanced transfer characteristics and reflection coefficient by using binding cover and non-cover. It was tested the radio interference voltage in the test room and electric field strength by calculation between binding cover and non-cover. In the factory the leakage current causing on the surface of insulator was tested in the state of light load and heavy load.

  • Typical lip seals are widely used as sealing mechanism of rotary and reciprocating shaft. Double lip seal has comparatively high stiffness and dynamic radial eccentricity. Usually material of these seals is made of elastomer and nonlinear finite element analysis is required to analyze behaviour of this material because Young's modulus is varied with working load. In this paper, MSC MARC/MENTAT is used for nonlinear analysis of double lip seal with pressure variation and interference. The contact normal force of double lip seal between lip and shaft is analyzed to reduce power loss when shaft rotates.

  • In this paper, an experimental investigation for return loss and a software-based prediction for interference level of single-packaged filtering antenna composed of dielectric waveguide filter and PCB(Printed Circuit Board) slot antenna in transceiver module have been carried out with several different feeding structures in millimeter-wave regime. The implementation and embedding method of the existing air-filled waveguide filters working at millimeter-wave frequency on general PCB substrate have been described. In a view of the implementation of each components, the dielectric waveguide embedded in PCB and LTCC(Low Temparature Co-fired Ceramic) substrates has employed the via fences as a replacement with side walls and common ground plane to prevent energy leakage. The characteristics of several prototypes of filtering antenna embedded in PCB substrate are considered by comparing the wideband and transmission characteristics as a function of bent angle of transmission line connecting two components. In addition, as an essential to the packaging of transceiver module working at millimeter-wave, miniaturization technology maintaining the performances of independent components and the important problems caused by integrating and connecting the different components in different layers are described in this paper.

  • In this paper, we propose a femtocell searching technique which can prevent a macrocell UE(user equipment) from losing synchronism to its serving macrocell near closed access femtocells in co-channel deployment due to the leakage of femtocell signals by using a CS(Common Signal). The CS, commonly transmitted by femtocells in a macrocell at the same time, enables the macrocell UEs to be kept synchronized with their serving macrocells since the CINR(Carrier to Interference and Noise Ratio) of base stations in macrocell can be kept high even near closed access femtocells. Also, the CS is designed in such a way that a macrocell UE can recognize the existence of femtocell by using the metric CSCINR(Common Signal Carrier to Interference and Ratio) measured with CS. In addition, the proposed femtocell searching technique can reduce the frequency of femtocell searching trial by using the metric on mobility of a macrocell UE defined in this paper, and the reduction of the frequency of handover trial can be also expected as a byproduct.

  • The introduction of tracer gas techniques to ventilation studies in indoor environments provides valuable information that used to be unattainable from conventional testing environments. Data acquisition systems (DASs) containing analogue-to-digital (A/D) converters are usually used to function the key role that records signals to storage in digital format. In the testing process, there exist a number of components in the measuring equipment which may produce system-based inference to the monitored results. These unwanted fluctuations may cause significant error in data analysis, especially when non-linear algorithms are involved. In this study, a pre-processor is developed and applied to separate the unwanted fluctuations (noise or interference) in raw measurements and to reduce the uncertainty in the measurement. Moving average, notch filter, FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filters, and IIR (Infinite Impulse Response) filters are designed and applied to collect the desired information from the raw measurements. Tracer gas concentrations are monitored during leakage and ventilation tests in the model test room. The signal analysis functions are introduced to carry out the digital signal processing (DSP) work. Overall the FIR filters process the $CO_2$ measurement properly for ventilation rate and mean age of air calculations. It is found that, the Kaiser filter was the most applicable digital filter for pre-processing the tracer gas measurements. Although the IIR filters help to reduce the random noise in the data, they cause considerable changes to the filtered data, which is not desirable.
