Culture, Leadership Practices and Organizational Commitment at Commercial Banks in Vietnam

  • This study attempted to investigate the effects of collectivism as an individual cultural value and leadership practices on employees' organizational commitment of six commercial banks in Vietnam. The study used collectivism and the implementation of five leadership practices as the independent variables, the three components of organizational commitment as the dependent variables and employees' personal factors served as controlling variables. The study utilized a quantitative method of research with questionnaires as the main data collection instrument. The findings of the study have revealed that the individual cultural value of collectivism positively, but to a marginal degree, affected the level of employees' organizational commitment. Among five leadership practices, only the implementation of encourage the heart, positively, but to a marginal degree, influenced employees' affective and normative commitment. The leadership practice of challenge the process had a negative impact on the employees' affective commitment. The personal factors of employees did not have an impact on organizational commitment. The findings and conclusions of this study may be used by the leaders to create the favorable working environment, improve the relationship between leaders and followers and to increase organizational commitment.

Non-Financial Performance and Transformational Leadership: Interaction and Impact on Sustainable Development Practices in Jordan

  • This article emphasizes the consequences of exploring the relationship between sustainable development practices and non-financial performing factors. Also, it investigates the combined effects of the transformational leadership style on the relationship between sustainable development practices and non-financial performing factors. Using primary data sources, this study reviews the literature on the relationship between the factors of the effectiveness of sustainable development practices of Jordanian contractors and non-financial performance. A total of 290 questionnaires were personally distributed to contractors in the Amman district in Jordan. Only 253 questionnaires were returned and usable for further analysis, which represents a response rate of 87%. Data was collected from October 2020 until April 2020. Hypotheses were tested through multiple regression analysis, and hypotheses for interacting effect were examined through hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Based on the results of the analysis obtained there is a significant effect on the relationship between sustainable development and non-financial performances. It shows that construction companies involved in sustainability practices will able to improve their performance, which contributed significantly toward the overall firm's performance. Whereas, results from hierarchical multiple regressions showed that transformational leadership had no moderation effect on the non-financial performance in such a way that reaches a higher firm performance level.

The Effects of Finance and Knowledge on Entrepreneurship Development: An Empirical Study from Bangladesh

  • Over the past decades, Bangladesh has fought poverty via labor-intensive industry and inclusive financing. The techniques assist underprivileged women in achieving self-sufficiency and encourage them to pursue independent endeavors. However, the majority of female entrepreneurs focused on four key company types: parlor, boutique, clothes, and fashion, all of which have limited access to financing. It was feared that their shortage of finance was hindering the growth of their company. The study's goal is to assess the effects of financial availability and knowledge on women's entrepreneurship development in Bangladesh via the lens of transformational leadership practices. A sample of 580 SMEs was considered for data collection with a structured questionnaire: a five-point Likert scale for getting responses from SMEs. The model coefficients with structural equation modeling revealed that financial accessibility plays a positive and statistically significant role in women's entrepreneurship development. Moreover, knowledge level established positive interlinkage with women's entrepreneurship development. Transformational leadership, which plays a mediating role in leadership practices, has been linked to the development of women's entrepreneurship indirectly and positively. As a result, support for knowledge creation and external financing must evolve and be made available to ensure women's sustainable development through entrepreneurial activities.

국내 중소기업 리더십 개발 실행 사례연구 (A Case Study on the Practices of Leadership Development by Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Korea)

  • 본 연구는 대부분이 중소기업 내 리더십 개발 실행의 채택에 대해 거의 알지 못하여 채택의 선례가 불분명하고, 다른 중소기업 HR실행의 채택을 설명하는 요소가 리더십 개발과 관련이 있는지도 불분명하다는 선행연구에 기초하여, 유용한 측정 방법을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 실증분석을 위하여 앞서 제시된 선행연구를 토대로 HRM 전략 적합성이 리더십 개발 실행에 미치는 영향에 대해 살펴보고, 소유경영자의 리더십 개발 태도의 매개 효과를 검증해보았다. 설문 문항은 선행연구에서 사용되어 검증된 설문을 바탕으로 설정하였으며, 실증분석을 위해 300부의 설문지를 회수, 회수된 설문지 전체를 통계분석에 사용하였다. HRM 전략 적합성이 리더십 개발 실행에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과, 통계적으로 유의성이 있는 것으로 검증되었다. 또한, HRM 전략 적합성이 리더십 개발 실행에 미치는 영향 관계에서 소유경영자의 리더십 개발 태도의 매개 효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 향후 연구는 연구 초점을 확대하고 본 연구에 포함되지 않은 변수들을 고려하여 실제 실행에 투자하는 것이 유용하도록 해야 할 것이다.

The Application of the Sports Psychology for Business Leadership: Current Literature Analysis

  • Purpose: This study seeks to address the following research questions: (1) What are the fundamental principles of sports psychology that can be applied to business leadership? (2) How can these principles enhance business leadership effectiveness? As a result, the study may evaluate the necessity and benefits of incorporating sports psychology principles into business leadership practices. Research design, data and methodology: The data collection process in this study involved a systematic Literature review approach, following the prior literature analysis guidelines by numerous past studies. This methodical approach to selecting articles can be useful in synthesizing existing literature and can be referred to as Literature review and selection. Results: The literature analysis has indicated that there is much support for assumptions underpinning business leadership modules, which can be enhanced by applying sports psychology. This topic discusses the traits of self-positivity and mental toughness, goal perspective and interpersonal relationships within a team, and visualization in a sporting organization that can be implemented in business management to support organizational performance. Conclusions: All in all, it can be concluded that organizations must consider adopting Sports Psychology principles into their Leadership Development Programs. 글로벌 공학리더를 양성하기 위한 리더십 역량 연구 (A Study on a Leadership Skill for Cultivating Global Engineering Leaders)

  • This study proposes content and instruction of leadership education based on the results of evaluation and analysis of leadership skill of present levels of students who registered for 'leadership development and training' course which is liberal arts elective course of the 'Accreditation Board of Engineering Education in Korea' and provides best practices to develop leadership skill and to attain academic achievement 2, 4, 6, 7 of 12 academic achievement required by KEC2005. To accomplish a purpose of the study, I divide leadership skill into technical skill, human skill and conceptual skill that suggested by Katz and then measure students' leadership skill. The contents of leadership education to develop and enforce three leadership skills are as follows. First, for developing technical skill, there is a need for systematic education of basic working experience relevant to a major field of study. Second, for developing human skill, there is a need for education of leadership, motivation, conflict management, communication, group dynamics and presentation etc. Third, for developing conceptual skill, there is a need for education of founding vision, business strategy and creative idea etc.

The Implementation of a Quality System in the Care Sector for Elderly and Handicapped People: A Swedish Case Study

  • This paper presents the empirical research results conducted in a Swedish care organization for elderly and handicapped. The objective of the research was to empirically assess the implementation and practices of a quality system (ISO 9000) from an organizational change and development perspective. The empirical data were collected through multiple methods; interviews were carried out with key-persons and leadership in the organisation and surveys were conducted to all employees. Interactive methods have been applied to various groups in the organisations e.g., directors, supervisors, and the leadership of the quality project and the local politicians. The empirical findings indicate, among others, that the implementation processes were received and perceived differently in the different parts of the care organisation due to different leadership strategies and employee involvement policies. Other critical factors such as acceptance, resistance, motivation, commitment, the role of leadership, learning possibility, etc. have also been investigated, analysed and discussed. Finally some recommendations on how to approach organisational change as well as strategies for implementing a quality system in the care sector are presented.

리더십 발휘동기, 리더십 행위 그리고 성과간의 관계에 관한 탐색적 연구 (Relations Among Motivation to Lead, Leadership Behavior, and Performance)

  • 본 논문에서는 지금까지 별로 소개된 바 없는 리더십발휘 동기라는 새로운 변수의 효용가치를 탐색적으로 살펴보았다. 한국에 소재하고 있는 기업의 구성원들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시한 후 실증분석을 실시하였다. 리더십 발휘동기를 감성적 동기, 사회-규범적 동기, 그리고 비계산적 동기 등 세 차원으로 정의하 고 (Chen & Drasgow, 2001), 이들 동기 유형 각각이 어떤 리더십 스타일과 관계를 갖는지를 살펴보았다. 구체적으로, 변혁적 리더십, 거래적 리더십, 그리고 자기 희생적 리더십 행위와 리더십 발휘동기의 관계를 두 연구를 통하여 검증하였으며 최종 기준변인들에 대한 설명력도 회귀분석을 통하여 아울러 테스트하였다. 리더십 발휘동기의 세 차원은 변혁적, 거래적, 그리고 자기 희생적 리더십 유형 등 뿐 아니라 조직몰입, 신뢰 등의 최종변인들과도 다양한 형태의 관계를 갖는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

Information Support of the Educational Process in the Development of Leadership Potential of Modern University in the Conditions of Distance Learning

  • The modern development of higher education in Ukraine is the result of two main factors. One of them - the factor of social progress - reflects the transformations inherent in modern Ukrainian society. These include, first of all, the processes of democratization and the development of civic responsibility. European the choice of Ukraine, the integration of our state into the European space determine accordingly, the second factor influencing the development of domestic higher education - the trends that guide the progress of the European Higher Education Area (European Higher Education Area (hereinafter - EHEA) and the European Research Area Research Area, hereinafter - ERA). The strategy of information support of the educational process (approved by the European Commission in 2010) recognizes the leading role of higher education as a driver of social progress, accordingly states the priority - the development of free economic education and identifies indicators of such progress - the achievement and international attractiveness of European free economic education. The information support of modernization challenges in higher education are aimed at the educational process, the leadership position of students, in particular through promotion and implementation of leading achievements and best practices in the context of globalization.

노인장기요양기관의 변혁적 리더십이 조직효과성에 미치는 영향 : 요양보호사의 임파워먼트 매개효과를 중심으로 (Effects of Transformational Leadership on the Organizational Effectiveness of Long-Term Care Facilities : Focusing on the Care Giver's Mediating effect of Empowerment)

  • 본 연구는 요양보호사가 인식한 상사의 변혁적 리더십과 직무만족 및 조직몰입으로 대표되는 조직효과성과의 관계에서 임파워먼트가 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위하여 실시되었다. 이를 위해 서울, 경인지역 장기요양기관에서 근무하는 요양보호사를 대상으로 서베이를 실시하여 283명의 응답을 최종 분석에 활용하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 장기요양기관의 변혁적 리더십은 직무만족과 조직몰입에 유의미한 영향을 미치고 있었다. 둘째, 요양보호사의 임파워먼트는 직무만족과 조직몰입에 유의미한 영향을 주는것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 장기요양기관의 변혁적 리더십과 요양보호사의 직무만족 및 조직몰입간의 관계에서 임파워먼트가 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 장기요양기관 관리자의 변혁적 리더십 향상을 위한 실천방안과 요양보호사들의 임파워먼트 향상을 위한 프로그램 개발 및 제도적 장치 마련에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.
