  • Dry film method was applied to fabricate lead-free transparent dielectric fur PDP(Plasma Display Panel). From various slurry compositions, it was able to find out the. best composition for producing high density green sheet. The slurry exhibited shear thinning characteristics which are known to be suitable fur producing a high quality green sheet. The thermal expansion coefficient of the fabricated transparent dielectric was measured to be $97{\times}10^{-7}/^{\circ}C$ which is close to the value of the glass substrate(PD-200). Cross sectional SEM of the transparent dielectric layer on PD-200 showed that the two layers were well attached each other with no observable gaps between them.

  • Dry film method for large size of PDP(Plasma Display Panel) module has been actively investigated. This method for lead-free transparent dielectric formation depends on green sheet technology. By adjusting the composition of transparent dielectric powders and organics, uniformly dispersed slurry was fabricated, Viscosity of the slurry exhibited pseudoplastic behavior for tape casting, Cast green sheets were tested under tensile condition at room temperature. It was found that the increase in transparent dielectric powder and binder ratio leads to decrease in strain to failure of green sheets from 120 % to 34 % and from 255 % to 4 %, respectively. Tensile strength of green sheets decreased abruptly with increase of transparent dielectric powder ratio, with minimum at 0.13 MPa. On the other hand, tensile strength increased continuously from 0.1 MPa to 2.4 MPa with increase of binder ratio. The green sheets were attached on the glass substrate and heated by following firing schedule. As a result, the best result was obtained when fired at 580 $^{\circ}C$ for 15 min and had transmittance of 78 % in visible range 550 nm.

  • Lead zirconate titanate (PZT) films were fabricated on Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si substrate by the sol-gel method using a sol containing poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP). PVP in alkoxide solutions can suppress the condensation reaction in gel films during heat treatment, and increase the viscosity of alkoxide solutions. Single-phase PZT films as thick as 1 ${\mu}m$ were deposited by repetitive coating with successive third-step heat treatments at 150$^{\circ}C$, 350$^{\circ}C$ and 650$^{\circ}C$. After heat treatment, the films were crack free, and optically transparent. As a result, we demonstrated a PZT film with a PVP molar ratio of 0.5, which has a permittivity of 734, a dielectric loss of 0.042, a $P_r$ of 40.5 ${\mu}C/cm^2$ and an $E_c$ of 156 kV/cm.
