휴믹산이 black shale과 오염물질의 분포에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구 (Effect of Humic acid on the Distribution of the Contaminants with Black Shale)

  • Humic acids are macromolecules originated from natural water, soil, and sediment. The characteristics of humic acid enable it to change the distribution of metals as well as many kinds of organic contaminants and to determine the sorption of them from soil solution. To see the effect of humic acid on the removal rate of organic contaminants and heavy metals, batch-scale experiments were performed. As a natural geosorbent, black shale was used as a sorbent media, which showed hight sorption capacity of trichloroethylene (TCE), lead, cadmium and chromium. The effect of sorption-desorption, pH, ionic strength and the concentration of humic acid was taken into consideration. TCE sorption capacity by black shale was compared to natural bentonite and hexadecyltrimethylammonium (HDTMA) modified bentonite. The removal rate was good and humic acid also sorbed onto black shale very well. The organic part of humic acid could effectively enhance the partition of TCE and it act as an electron donor to reduce Cr(VI) to Cr(III). Cationic metal of Pb(II) and Cd(II) also removed from the water by black shale. With 3 mg/L of humic acid, both Pb(II) and Cd(II) were removed more than without humic acid. That could be explained by sorption and complexation with humic acid and that was possible when humic acid could change the hydrophobicity and solubility of heavy metals. Humic acid exhibited desorption-resistivity with black shale, which implied that black shale could be an alternative sorbent or material for remediation of organic contaminants and heavy metals.

페인트 제조 작업자의 6가 크롬 및 실리카 노출평가와 호흡보호구 밀착도 검사 사례 (Case study of Hexavalent Chromium and Silica Exposure Assessment and Respiratory Fit-test for Paint Manufacturing Worker)

  • Objective: Paint manufacturing industry workers are exposed to various lung cancer carcinogenic substances including hexavalent chromium and crystalline silica. Studies have been conducted on lung cancer in Paint manufacturing industry workers and the concentration of hexavalent chromium in paint industry; however, the concentration of crystalline silica and hexavalent chromium and cases of lung cancer in a single Paint factory has never been reported in Korea. Methods: To determine whether the cancer was related to his work environment, we assessed the level of exposure to carcinogens during pouring and mixing talc and pigment. In addition, a mask fit test was performed for the worker. Results: Analysis of talc and silica bulk powder materials showed that crystalline silica (quartz) was 5% in talc and 100% in silica. The green and yellow pigments contained 87% and 92% of lead chromate, respectively. Our quantitative analysis of pigment powder samples showed that the hexavalent chromium contents quantified in the green and yellow pigment samples were 87% and 92%, respectively. In order to estimate his exposure level of hexavalent chromium, we measured a personal exposure level of hexavalent chromium for a worker in accordance with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health #7605 method. The results showed that the worker was exposed to the high level of hexavalent chromium (0.033 mg m-3). In addition, the talc powder also contained 5% quartz, and the worker's exposure level to respirable quartz exceeded OEL. As a result of the respiratory protection fit test for workers, the overall Fit Factor was '15' when wearing a second-grade mask and '25' when wearing a first-grade mask, significantly lower than the US Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA) pass value of "100". Conclusion: Workers who pouring and mixing powder materials such as talc or colored pigments in paint manufacturing company may be exposed to high concentrations of carcinogenic substances. These findings indicate that it is necessary to local ventilation system inspection, safety and health education for employers and workers, and periodically monitoring and manage the working environment.

크롬 폭로가 자매염색분체교환 빈도 및 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine 농도에 미치는 영향 (The effects of chromium exposure on sister chromatid exchange and concentration of 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine)

  • 크롬염 안료제조공장 근로자를 대상으로 크롬 폭로와 말초혈액 림프구의 8-OH-dG 농도의 상관성을 직접 관찰함으로써 크롬의 암 발생기전에 산소유리기(oxygen free radical)가 관여하는지 여부와 크롬폭로에 따라 자매염색분체교환 빈도가 증가하는지를 밝힐 목적으로 본 연구를 수행하였다. 안료공장에 1년 이상 근무한 근로자 38명을 대상으로 설문지를 통하여 근무기간, 연령, 성, 크롬 폭로와 관련된 자각적 증상 등을 조사하였으며, 이들의 크롬 폭로 수준을 평가할 수 있는 생물학적 지표로서 혈중 및 크레아티닌 보정 요중 크롬 농도를 측정하였다. 크롬에 의한 생물학적 영향지표로서 말초혈액 림프구로 부터 dG에 대한 8-OH-dG의 몰 농도비를 측정하였으며, 분열 중기의 세포 30개를 관찰하여 세포당 자매염색분체교환 빈도를 계수하여 염색체 46개당 평균 자매 염색분체교환 빈도로 환산하였다. 분석결과 현재 크롬 폭로 수준을 판단하는 생물학적지표로 가장 많이 사용되는 크레아티닌 보정 요중 크롬 농도와 림프구에서의 dG에 대한 8-OH-dG의 물 농도비는 유의한 상관관계(r=0.47, p<0.01)를 보이는 것으로 분석되었으며, 현재의 흡연수준을 보정하고 분석한 결과에서는 상관계수가 증가하는 결과(r=0.62, p<0.05)를 나타내었다. 한편 자매염색분체교환 빈도와 크롬 폭로수준간에는 유의한 상관관계가 관찰되지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 크롬의 발암성에 DNA 부가체(adduct)의 형성이 중요한 기전일 수 있다는 기존의 연구결과와 일치하며, 따라서 8-OH-dG는 크롬에 의한 발암성을 예측할 수 있는 생물학적 영향지표로서 활용될 수 있음을 시사한다고 할 수 있다.

페인트 도장의 역사를 통해 본 6·25전쟁 운용 헬기의 도료분석 (Analysis of Paint Used for a Helicopter Operated in the Korean War through the History of Paint Application)

  • 야외에 위치한 대형 군사문화유산의 장기적 보존을 위해 선행연구를 참고하여 과거에 이루어진 도료를 통한 도장 기술의 역사를 살펴보았으며, 전쟁기념관 소장 H-13 헬기의 분석 결과와 비교하였다. 선행연구에서 제2차 세계대전에 참여하여 지상에서 발굴된 난파기 3점에서 샘플을 수집해 분석한 결과, 항공기의 각 샘플에서 크롬의 다양한 화학적인 상태의 특성이 보호 코팅에 대한 역할 수행을 확인할 수 있었다. 약 80년이 지나 도료층의 변질과 자연환경에 장기간 노출되었는데도, 이 화합물은 1940년도 초에 부식 억제 안료로서 테스트 되었으며, 수분에 저항력을 갖는 훌륭한 억제력을 제공했다. 이런 이유로 항공 산업에서 알루미늄 합금의 부식 억제제로 널리 사용되었다. 즉 부식을 방지하기 위해 가장 널리 사용되는 재료는 크롬산염을 함유한 유기 프라이머였다. 본 연구에서 6·25전쟁에 운용되었던 H-13 헬기의 도료분석을 토대로 두 번째 층인 프라이머가 산화크롬(Cr2O3)을 포함하고 있음을 보여준다. 또한 적색의 사산화삼납(Pb3O4)을 전색제에 녹여 사용한 것으로 추정된다. 이를 선행연구와 비교한 결과 크롬산염이 제공하는 부식 방지 기능이 여전히 유효한지 여부를 명확히하는 데 도움이 될 수 있다. 적외선 분광분석 결과는 알키드 수지(Alkyd Resin)의 도료가 사용되었다. 향후 보다 다양한 유물과의 비교를 통해 합금을 부식으로부터 보호하기 위한 도료의 제작 기술 변화를 해석할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

대구지방 산업장에 있어서 건강장애요인과 작업환경검사에 대한 기업인의 수용태도 (ll) (Status of Industrial Environments of Some Industries in Taegu Kyungpook Area)

  • Examination of working environments was conducted to get more detailed data about harmful working environments and to make a contribution to more effective management. Study was carried out on 722 factories located in Taegu city and eight counties in Kyungpook Province, Korea, for a period of one year, from February 1 to December 30, 1986. The total number and proportion of workers exposed to harmful material was 37,697, 45.2% among 83,368 workers. The results according to exposed material were as follows: 1. In the case of noise, proportion of exceeding the 8-hour TLV was 59%, Included were nail-cutting in assembly metal manufacturing industry and weaving process in textile. 2. Dust in mill process of coal manufacturing industries exceeded the TLV of second class of dust at all parts and exceeded the TLV at 6% as a whole.: 3. The fields of industry lower than 70 lux of illumination were storage equipment of food, auto-winder of textile, painting of wood wares and coal mixing, and 44% of all cases was lower than standard. 4. As a result of temperature index investigation(WBGT), about 12% of all sujects exceeded limit value. Included parts were rolling machine and reducing room. 5. In the case of organic solvents, TLV was exceeded at about 8%, The parts exceeded TLV according to materials belonged to this category were as follows. 1) Toluene: adhesive work in assembly metal manufacturing 2) Xylene: printing and paint mixing in chemical manufacturing 3) Methyl ethytl ketone: paint mixing in all parts examined and coating machine partially in chemical manufacturing 4) Methyl isobutyl ketone: printing in chemical manufacturing 5) Acetone: vapor polishing in assembly metal manufacturing 6. Among specified chemical materials, the concentration of HC1 in the air in metal assembly manufacturing factory exceeded TLV. in one of three assembly metal manufacturing examined. Others, such as benzene, acetic acid, formic acid, sodium hydroxide, formalin, ammonia, copper, chromate etc. were lower than TLV in its indoor atmospheric concentration. As a whole, the proportion of exceeding TLV was about 0.8% 7. The concentrations of inorganic lead were lower than TLV in all parts examined. The results of this investigation show the fact that current management of working environments is not satisfactory, and so more active management is needed.
