  • This paper presents a new 3-D ray tracing technique based on the image theory with newly defined ray tubes. The proposed method can be applied to indoor environments with arbitrary building layouts and has high computational efficiency compared to the precedent methods resorting to the ray launching scheme. Its predictions are in good agreement with the measurements

초폭굉속도 램가속기의 정상발진과 불발과정에 대한 수치해석 (Numerical Study of Normal Start and Unstart Processes In a Superdetonative Speed Ram Accelerator)

  • A numerical study was conducted to investigate the combustion phenomena of normal start and unstart processes based on ISL's RAMAC 30 experiments with different diluent amounts and fill pressures in a ram accelerator. The initial projectile launching speed was 1.8 km/s which corresponded to the superdetonative speed of the stoichiometric $H_2/O_2$ mixture diluted with 5 $CO_2$ or 4 $CO_2$. Experiments with same condition except for projectile surface material demonstrated that ignition was successful with an aluminum projectile, but no combustion was observed in case of a steel projectile. In this study, it was found that neither shock nor viscous heating was sufficient to ignite the mixture at a low speed of 1.8 km/s, as was found in the experiments using a steel projectile. However, we could succeed in igniting the mixtures by imposing a minimal amount of additional heat to the combustor section and simulate the normal start and unstart processes found in the experiments with an aluminum projectile. For the numerical simulation of supersonic combustion, multi-species Navier-Stokes equations coupled with a Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model and detailed chemistry reaction equations of $H_2/O_2/CO_2$ suitable for high-pressure gaseous combustion were considered. The governing equations were discretized by a high order accurate upwind scheme and solved in a fully coupled manner with a fully implicit, time accurate integration method. The numerical results matched almost exactly to the experimental results. As a result, it was found that the normal start and unstart processes depended on the strength of gas mixture, development of shock-induced combustion wave stabilized by the first separation bubble, and its size and location.

아진공 터널에서 초고속 열차의 속도향상에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study for the Speed-up of a Super-speed Train Model in the Partial Vacuum Tunnel)

  • We are developing an innovative super-speed land transportation system running in a partial vacuum in tunnels with small inside diameter to reduce the aerodynamic drag forces. This paper presents the experimental results obtained on a small scale model when a super-speed train model passing through a tunnel with small inside diameter and a partial vacuum to reduce the aerodynamic drag forces. The experiments were performed on a 1/52-scale moving model rig in which a train model with a diameter of 58 mm and a length of 603 mm was accelerated in a launching tube with 12.27 m length by means of the compressed air launcher and then passed through a tunnel model with 17.149 m length. The partial vacuum was maintained in the tunnel in order to reduce the energy consumption of the propulsion system of the super-speed tube train at super-speed of 700 km/h. In this study, the blockage ratio of train to tunnel model is 0.336. Experimental results show the nonlinear effects of the vacuum on the speed-up of the train model in the tunnel model under the partial vacuum up to 0.21 atm and at the velocity up to 684 km/h. This paper is first study for experiments on the speed-up of a super-speed train model in the partial vacuum tunnels.

볼타입 분리볼트의 분리현상 연구 (A Study of Separation Mechanism in Ball Type Separated Bolt)

  • 현재의 많은 유도무기들은 발사관에 장착되어 이동된다. 발사관이란 유도탄등이 외부환경에 노출되지 않도록 유도탄을 보호하고, 발사시 유도탄을 가이드 하는 역할을 한다. 발사관에 장착되어 있는 유도탄은 발사관에 견고하게 장착되어 이동되어야 하며, 작전시 원하는 시간에 분리되어야 한다. 이를 위하여 구조적인 안전성이 크고, 분리 응답이 빠른 파이로 장치인 폭발볼트가 많이 사용된다. 폭발볼트는 화약의 폭발력에 의해 볼트몸체가 절개됨으로써 볼트에 의해 결합되고 있던 부분이 분리되는데, 폭발 볼트는 분리시 파편, 화염 및 pyro-shock이라는 큰 진동과 충격을 수반하므로 정밀한 유도무기에는 사용이 제한된다. 이와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 압력카트리지에서 발생하는 압력을 분리력으로 사용하여, 충격이 작고, 분리파편이 발생하지 않는 분리장치인 볼타입 분리볼트를 개발하였다. 본 연구에서는 볼타입 볼트의 분리현상을 분석하고, 볼타입 분리볼트의 분리 안전율을 정량적으로 제시하였다.

문화콘텐츠 상품 확산의 시·공간적 특성 -싸이의 "강남스타일" 뮤직비디오를 중심으로- (Spacio-temporal Characteristics of Cultural Contents Diffusion: The Case of PSY's "Gangnam Style" Music Video)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 문화콘텐츠 상품의 소비 및 확산에 나타나는 시공간적 특징을 밝히는 것이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 최근 전 세계적 인기를 누리며 확산되고 있는 싸이의 "강남스타일" 뮤직비디오의 확산과정을 분석한다. 특히 싸이의 "강남스타일"이 유튜브에 탑재된 이후 4~6개월간의 지역별 유튜브 조회 수와 트윗 자료 및 구글 검색 수를 바탕으로 이들이 확산되어 나가는 과정의 시공간적 특성을 파악 한다. 분석 결과 뮤직비디오와 같은 문화콘텐츠 상품의 경우 물리적인 공간 거리와 무관할 수 있는 온라인 매체를 통한 확산의 경우도 지역에 따라 전파되는 시점과 전개 과정이 상이함을 확인하였다. 특히 언어, 문화적 연관성 및 한류에 대한 호의성 및 배타성 등으로 정의될 수 있는 문화적 거리가 이러한 문화 상품의 확산에 영향을 미치는 것으로 판단된다.

Effects of the partially movable control fin with end plate of underwater vehicle

  • Underwater torpedo has control fin with very low aspect ratio due to launching from limited size of cylindrical torpedo tube. If the aspect ratio of control fin of underwater vehicle is very low three-dimensional flow around control fin largely reduces control forces. In this study, the end plate was applied to reduce the three-dimensional flow effects of partially movable control fin of underwater vehicle. Through numerical simulations the flow field around control fin was examined with and without end plate for different flap angles. The pressure, vorticity, lift and torque on the control fin were analyzed and compared to experiments. The comparison have shown a reasonable agreement between numerical and experimental results and the effect of end plate on a low aspect ratio control fin. When the end plate was attached to the movable control fin, the lift increased and the actuator shaft torque did not significantly change. As this means less consumption of the actuator shaft torque compared to the control fin that has the same control force, the inner actuator capacity can be reduced and energy consumption can be saved. Considering this, it is expected to be effectively applied to the control fin design of underwater vehicles such as torpedoes.
