The end of the ROK-U.S. missile guidelines opened up the possibility of developing space launch vehicles for various platforms based on air and sea. In particular, the air-based space launch vehicle is an essential space power projection capability compared to the ground-based space launch vehicle in consideration of the geographical location of the Korean Peninsula, such as the deployment of various satellite orbits and the timely launch of satellite. In addition, compared to the ground-based launch vehicle, the cost reduction effect is large, and it has the merit of energy gain because it can be launched with the advantage of the aircraft's altitude and speed. Therefore, in this paper, the necessity of air-based space launch vehicle in the strategic environment of the Korean Peninsula is clearly presented, and through technology trend analysis of various air launch vehicle, the three methods are proposed to have the most efficient air-based space launch vehicle capability in the Korean situation.
Bogie(The Launch vehicle transporter) is the special land transportation vehicle for the LV (Launch vehicle) which is used for not only the transportation-means of LV from LVAB(Launch Vehicle Assembly Building) to LP(Launch Pad) but also one of principal tools for launch operation sequence. Due to the multi-role of Bogie, The technical requirements of bogie are very complicated. Especially launch operation has performed with not only bogie but also many ground support equipments. So, it is impossible to establish technical requirements of bogie without whole understanding of launch operation. This paper was made for arranging whole launch operation sequence and technical requirements of bogie based on the this sequence.
Purpose: This paper explains how to obtain the Bayes estimates of the whole launch vehicle and of a vehicle stage, respectively, for a newly developed expendable launch vehicle. Methods: We determine the parameters of the beta prior distribution using the upper bound of the 60% Clopper-Pearson confidence interval of failure probability which is calculated from previous launch data considering the experience of the developer. Results: Probability that a launch vehicle developed from an inexperienced developer succeeds in the first launch is obtained by about one third, which is much smaller than that estimated from the previous research. Conclusion: The proposed approach provides a more conservative estimate than the previous noninformative prior, which is more reasonable especially for the initial reliability of a new vehicle which is developed by an inexperienced developer.
A space launch vehicle departs the ground in a low speed, soon reaches a transonic and a supersonic speed, and then flies in a hypersonic speed into the space. Therefore, the design of a launch vehicle should include the prediction of aerodynamic characteristics for all speed regimes, ranging from subsonic to hypersonic speed. Generally, Empirical and analytical methods and wind tunnel tests are used for the prediction of aerodynamic characteristics. This research presents considerable factors for aerodynamic analysis of a launch vehicle using CFD. This investigation was conducted to determine effects of wake over the base section on the aerodynamic characteristics of a launch vehicle and also performed to determine effects of the sting which exist to support wind tunnel test model.

This paper is concerned with the prediction of lift-off acoustic loads for a launch vehicle. Intense acoustic load is generated when a launch vehicle is lifted off, and it can induce vibrations of a launch vehicle which cause damage or malfunction of a launch vehicle and a satellite. Lift-off acoustic loads of NARO are predicted by the modified Eldred's second method and the result is compared with the measured data in flight test. The prediction shows similar peak and shape of spectrum to the test data, but some discrepancy can be observed due to the predicted margin. In order to reduce such discrepancy, the sound pressure levels with four source distribution assumptions are calculated. Also, the surface diffraction effects are considered in the predict ion of lift-off acoustic loads, and the predicted result is more similar to the test data.
There is close correlation between the reliability of the launch vehicle and the leakage of the propellants or gases from the launch vehicle. This paper describes the definition of the leak rate to determine the quantity of the leakage and introduce the unit conversion of the leak rate. The main parameters for the leak rate were considered. The requirements for the gaseous for the leak test of launch vehicle and various leak test methods were introduced. Leak test method and procedure used in space launch vehicle were briefly described.

With the recent development of space technology, the satellite market, especially the small satellite market, is growing globally. As the satellite market continues to grow, the launch vehicle market is also growing, and demand for low-cost launches is increasing. There are a number of options for low-cost launches, including development of engine that uses low-cost propellants, product and transportation cost savings, but the most effective way to reduce launch costs is to reuse the used launch vehicles. USA's Space Shuttle, a famous rocket as manned spacecraft, could be referred as the start of reusable launch vehicle. However, Space Shuttle had limited reusable parts and it was very expensive even though it is a reusable launch vehicle because of its low efficiency. In recent years, aiming at a real reusable launch vehicle, reusable launch vehicle for commercial purposes have been developed around USA's SpaceX and Blue Origin, and re-landing tests were successfully accomplished. In addition, SpaceX successfully did the re-using of first-stage launch vehicle that had been succeeded in re-landing already. In accordance with this trend, countries such as Europe and India are also concentrating on the study of reusable launch vehicles. Including Blue Origin, companies like Virgin Galactic and XCOR in the United States, are also trying to commercialize the same reusable technology as the private manned space tourism. Confirmation of these technology trends is essential, because the re-use technology could change the landscape of the global launch vehicle market.

In the 1990s, South Korea recently launched Space Development and is pushing for a step toward Space. In the Space Launch Vehicle field, the development of Practical satellite type Launch Vehicle (Korea Space Launch Vehicle II) has progressed to the stage of proprietary development, and in the field of Satellite development, they also have a great deal of competitiveness. This study will be a shortcut to rediscovering our potential and looking for breakthroughs by reviewing and re-examining the effects of past Space development.
In the field of launch vehicle development, aerodynamic design means an overall management about external appearances. At least, related to outer figures of the launch vehicle, aerodynamic design has the initiative activities. For that reason, in this report, aerodynamic design techniques and application methods will be introduced.

This paper addresses Monte-Carlo simulation analyses for the stage separation of the general launch vehicle. The stage separation event of the launch vehicle occurs during a very short time and is related with many dynamic parameters. The stage separation is a critical event in that the launch fails if there is a collision during the stage separation. The stage separation analyses was conducted for the general launch vehicle to confirm the separation without collision within the designed clearance in case of the random input parameters. This paper presents the stochastic results of the stage separation of the launch vehicle using the Monte-Carlo simulation.
