I. Purpose Confirming an error to be able to break out in a method to move couch manually while operator sees the skin marks on patient in case of curing head who got 2 targets adjoined, so we analyze coordinates price of couch, evaluate reproducibility and precision of change movements between targets. II. Materials and Methods In radiotherapy, for confirming errors in manual movements by operators by exchanging between two targets to treat patient head, we read coordinates price(vertical, longitudinal, lateral three directions of couch) shown on a monitor of LINAC( CL 2100, Varian, USA) in order to evaluate accuracy about the length that moved in time for moving couch manually. After reading movement length of coordinates recorded in three directions of all treatment, we compared distance between targets recorded in RTP(Pinnacle, ADAC, USA) with reading coordinates price of couch, setting actually done the same patient for ten times, coordinates were recorded, treated for evaluating averages and degrees of errors and standard deviations. III. Results In method to confirm skin marks of patient by operators' view and to move couch manually, average standard deviations of movements between two targets are vertical 1.4mm, longitudinal 0.9mm, lateral 2.2mm in each direction. As for the error in straight dimension, it is about 3.6mm averages and 5.1mm maximum. The average of errors in each directions was vertical 1mm, longitudinal 0.7mm, lateral 2.7mm. The greatest error broke out in lateral direction with $25\%$ of all cases ; to exceed an error average. IV. Conclusions If operators moved manually couch for changing target points, errors about 3.6mm average degrees occur. It is important that operators confirm the errors prices of actual couch coordinates for asking a correct movement between the targets adjoined each other ; in case of treatment demanding high precision like 3D conformal therapy or IMRT. Therefore, if we apply couch coordinates confirmation to reproducibility and to precision evaluation of treatment, it's expected that we can execute high-quality radiotherapy.
Dynamic conformal arc therapy (DCAT) and flattening-filter-free (FFF) beams are commonly adopted for efficient conformal dose delivery in stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). Off-axis geometry (OAG) may be necessary to obtain full gantry rotation without collision, which has been shown to be beneficial for peripheral targets using flattened beams. In this study dose distributions in OAG using FFF were evaluated and the effect of mechanical rotation induced uncertainty was investigated. For the lateral target, OAG evaluation, sphere targets (2, 4, and 6 cm diameter) were placed at three locations (central axis, 3 cm off-axis, and 6 cm off-axis) in a representative patient CT set. For each target, DCAT plans under the same objective were obtained for 6X, 6FFF, 10X, and 10FFF. The parameters used to evaluate the quality of the plans were homogeneity index (HI), conformality indices (CI), and beam on time (BOT). Next, the mechanical rotation induced uncertainty was evaluated using five SBRT patient plans that were randomly selected from a group of patients with laterally located tumors. For each of the five cases, a plan was generated using OAG and CAG with the same prescription and coverage. Each was replanned to account for one degree collimator/couch rotation errors during delivery. Prescription isodose coverage, CI, and lung dose were evaluated. HI and CI values for the lateral target, OAG evaluation were similar for flattened and unflattened beams; however, 6FFF provided slightly better values than 10FFF in OAG. For all plans the HI and CI were acceptable with the maximum difference between flattened and unflattend beams being 0.1. FFF beams showed better conformality than flattened beams for low doses and small targets. Variation due to rotational error for isodose coverage, CI, and lung dose was generally smaller for CAG compared to OAG, with some of these comparisons reaching statistical significance. However, the variations in dose distributions for either treatment technique were small and may not be clinically significant. FFF beams showed acceptable dose distributions in OAG. Although 10FFF provides more dramatic BOT reduction, it generally provides less favorable dosimetric indices compared to 6FFF in OAG. Mechanical uncertainty in collimator and couch rotation had an increased effect for OAG compared to CAG; however, the variations in dose distributions for either treatment technique were minimal.

The simulation of the ballistic trajectory of penetrator into the spaced multi-layer RC targets is very important to predict the hitting condition in subsequent target. Because of perturbation by lateral load of penetrator caused by asymmetric hitting position between penetrator and steel bar reinforcement, penetrator rotates and deviates from the straight path. Therefore, penetration capability of penetrator is decreased in the subsequent targets. This paper presents the result of the penetration of steel-bar-reinforced concrete target by using the explicit finite element code LS-DYNA. A series of computations is performed and compared to experimental data and the computed results are in good agreement with the experimental results over a wide range of velocities. And then we conduct the simulation according to various RC target hitting condition and impact velocities.

Purpose : The patients who have Supraspinatus tendinitis, Lateral epicondylitis, Achilles tendinitis are our targets, so we want to know their opinions in order to take Sono-graphic tests and to study utility value of Sono-graphic. Object and Methods : The case of 30 patients with Tendinitis results, we classified with three categories, Supraspinatus tendinitis, Lateral epicondylitis and Achilles tendinitis. Case by case, before medical treatment, we executed the inspections which are Sound side and Affected side. After 4 weeks of medical treatment, we executed the inspection which is Sono-graphic. Objectively comparing with Sono-graphic, we measured VAS(Visual Analog Scale) before and after physical therapy. Results : We could learn that VAS (Visual Analog Scale) and Sono-graphic wore decreased about changing the lesion area of each disease. For example, Supraspinatus tendinitis is from case 1 and case 2, Lateral epicondylitis is from case 8, case 9 and case 10, Achilles tendinitis is from case 16, case 17 and case 18. Conclusion : About organization of complicated anatomy, we could learn general ideas about Supraspinatus tendinitis, Lateral epicondylitis, Achilles tendinitis. And finally the results which appeared between the decrements of VAS and Sono-graphic are similar.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of bilateral visual feedback training with visual targets on the postural balance and fall efficacy of stroke patients with hemiparesis. Methods: A total of 24 stroke patients with hemiparesis were randomly assigned to either a bilateral visual feedback training (BVFT, n=8) group, unilateral visual feedback training (UVFT, n=8) group, or a control group (n=8). The BVFT and UVFT groups performed weight-bearing training on the bilateral (less-affected and affected side) or unilateral side (affected side) with visual feedback using visual targets. The control group performed squat training without visual feedback using visual targets. The training program was conducted in the form of 3 sets a day, 3 times a week, for 4 weeks. The participants were evaluated using the Berg balance scale (BBS), lateral reaching test (LRT), timed up and go test (TUG), and the activities-specific balance confidence scale (ABC). Results: In the intra-group comparison after the intervention, the BVFT group showed a significant difference in the BBS, TUG, affected and less-affected side LRT, and ABC (p<0.05). The UVFT group showed a significant difference in the BBS and ABC (p<0.05). In the inter-group comparison after the intervention, the BVFT group showed significant improvements in their BBS, affected side LRT, and TUG, when compared to the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: These findings show that bilateral visual feedback training with visual targets during bilateral weight-bearing exercises can improve the postural balance function in stroke patients.
A novel approach has been used to identify functional interactions relevant to human disease. Using high-throughput human-yeast genetic interaction screens, a first draft of disease interactome was obtained. This was achieved by first searching for candidate human disease genes that confer toxicity in yeast, and second, identifying modulators of toxicity. This study found potentially disease-relevant interactions by analyzing the network of functional interactions and focusing on genes implicated in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), for example. In the subsequent proof-of-concept study focused on ALS, similar functional relationships between a specific kinase and ALS-associated genes were observed in mammalian cells and zebrafish, supporting findings in human-yeast genetic interaction screens. Results of combined analyses highlighted MAP2K5 kinase as a potential therapeutic target in ALS.
Significant research efforts are ongoing to elucidate the complex molecular mechanisms underlying amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which may in turn pinpoint potential therapeutic targets for treatment. The ALS research field has evolved with recent discoveries of numerous genetic mutations in ALS patients, many of which are in genes encoding RNA binding proteins (RBPs), including TDP-43, FUS, ATXN2, TAF15, EWSR1, hnRNPA1, hnRNPA2/B1, MATR3 and TIA1. Accumulating evidence from studies on these ALS-linked RBPs suggests that dysregulation of RNA metabolism, cytoplasmic mislocalization of RBPs, dysfunction in stress granule dynamics of RBPs and increased propensity of mutant RBPs to aggregate may lead to ALS pathogenesis. Here, we review current knowledge of the biological function of these RBPs and the contributions of ALS-linked mutations to disease pathogenesis.

The Navy is trying to develop a sonar-operation strategy that efficiently searches for underwater targets. To develop an efficient sonar-operation strategy, a simulation system, which can analyze the efficiency of various operation strategies, is needed. The simulation executes the strategical operation by collecting information of sea environment, destroyer, sonar, and target. Also, it should be able to provide diverse information according to its progression. In this study, the simulation system that can evaluate and analyze the effectiveness of the search strategy for underwater targets in different environments was designed and developed. The simulation system was developed, utilizing the sonar equation and the lateral-range-curve, and it portrays many patterns of realistic movements of a target. This system will contribute to developing and improving efficient sonar-operation strategies to find underwater targets in the future.
The safety of structures is closely associated with the structural out-of-plane behavior. In particular, long and slender beam structures have been increasingly used in the design and construction. Therefore, an evaluation of the lateral and torsional behavior of a structure is important for the safety of the structure during construction as well as under service conditions. The current contact measurement method using displacement meters cannot measure independent movements directly and also requires caution when installing the displacement meters. Therefore, in this study, a vision-based system was used to measure the in-plane and out-of-plane displacements of a structure. The image processing algorithm was based on reference objects, including multiple targets in Lab color space. The captured targets were synchronized using a load indicator connected wirelessly to a data logger system in the server. A laboratory beam test was carried out to compare the displacements and rotation obtained from the proposed vision-based measurement system with those from the current measurement method using string potentiometers. The test results showed that the proposed vision-based measurement system could be applied successfully and easily to evaluating both the in-plane and out-of-plane movements of a beam including twisting rotation.
The purpose of the present study was to examine gaze effects on spatial and kinematic characteristics during a pointing task. Subjects were asked to watch and point to an aimed target (2 mm in diameter) displayed on a vertically mounted board. Four gaze conditions were developed as combinations of "seeing-aiming" in terms of the eye movements: Focal-Focal (F-F), Focal-Fixing (F-X), Fixing-Focal (X-F), and Fixing-Fixing (X-X). Both the home target and an aimed target were presented for 1 second and then were disappeared in F-F and X-F. In X-F and X-X, only an aimed target disappeared after 1 second. Subjects were asked to point (with index finger tip) to an aimed target accurately as soon as the aimed target was removed. A significant main effect of gaze was found (p<.01) for normalized movement time. Peripheral retina targets had significantly larger absolute error compared to central retina targets on the x (medio-lateral) and z (superior-inferior) axes (p<.01). A significant undershooting to peripheral retina targets on the x axis was found (p<.01). F-F and X-F had larger peak velocities compared to F-X and X-X (p<.01). F-F and X-F were characterized by more time spent in the deceleration phase compared to F-X and X-X (p<.01). The present study demonstrates that central vision utilizes a form of on-line visual processing to reach to an object, and thus increases spatial accuracy. However, peripheral vision utilizes a relatively off-line visual processing with a dependency on proprioceptive information.
