Study on Surface Temperature Change of PV Module Installed on Green Roof System and Non-green Roof System (옥상녹화와 비 옥상녹화 평지붕에 설치 된 PV모듈의 표면온도 변화 고찰)

  • Today, various activities to save energy are being conducted around the world. Even in our country, carbon reduction policy is being conducted for low carbon green growth and with this movement, effort to replace energy sources by recognizing the problems on environment pollution and resource exhaustion due to the indiscrete usage of fossil fuel is being made. Therefore, active study on renewable energy is in progress as part of effort to replace the energy supply through fossil fuel and solar ray industry has rapidly developed receiving big strength of renewable energy policies. The conclusion of this study measuring the surface temperature change of single crystal and polycrystalline PV module in green roof system and non-green roof system aspect are as follows. There was approximately $4^{\circ}C$ difference in PV module temperature in green roof system and non-green roof system aspect and this has the characteristic to decrease 0.5% when the temperature rises by $1^{\circ}C$ when the front side of the module is $20^{\circ}C$ higher than the surrounding air temperature following the characteristic of solar cells. It can be concluded that PV efficiency will be come better when it is $4^{\circ}C$ lower. Also, in result of temperature measurement of the module back side, there was $5^{\circ}C$ difference of PV module installed on the PV module back side and green roof system side on the 5th, $3^{\circ}C$ on the 4th, $2^{\circ}C$ on the 5th to show decreasing temperature difference as the air temperature dropped, but is judged that there will be higher temperature difference due to the evapotranspiration latent heat effect of green roof system floor side as the temperature rises. Based on this data, it is intended to be used as basic reference to maximize efficiency by applying green roof system and PV system when building non-green roof system flat roof.

Typhoon Simulation with a Parameterized Sea Surface Cooling (모수화된 해면 냉각을 활용한 태풍 모의 실험)

  • This study investigates the response of a typhoon model to the change of the sea surface temperature (SST) throughout the model integration. The SST change is parameterized as a formulae of which the magnitude is given as a function of not only the intensity and the size but the moving speed of tropical cyclone. The formulae is constructed by referring to many previous observational and numerical studies on the SST cooling with the passage of tropical cyclones. Since the parameterized cooling formulae is based on the mathematical expression, the resemblance between the prescribed SST cooling and the observed one during the period of the numerical experiment is not complete nor satisfactory. The agreements between the prescribed and the observed SST even over the swath of the typhoon passage differ from case to case. Numerical experiments are undertaken with and without prescribing the SST cooling. The results with the SST cooling do not show clear evidence in improving the track prediction compared to those of the without-experiments. SST cooling in the model shows its swath along the incomplete simulated track so that the magnitude and the distribution of the sea surface cooling does not resemble completely with the observed one. However, we have observed a little improvement in the intensity prediction in terms of the central pressure of the tropical cyclone in some cases. In case where the model without the SST treatment is not able to yield a correct prediction of the filling of the tropical cyclone especially in the decaying stage, the pulling effect given by the SST cooling alleviates the over-deepening of the model so that the central pressure approaches toward the observed value. However, the opposite case when the SST treatment makes the prediction worse may also be possible. In general when the sea surface temperature is reduced, the amount of the sensible and the latent heat from the ocean surface become also reduced, which results in the weakening of the storms comparing to the constant SST case. It turns out to be the case also in our experiments. The weakening is realized in the central pressure, maximum wind, horizontal temperature gradient, etc.

  • The PingMaiFa chapter, which is the second chapter of SongBon ShangHanLun, is the scholarly description(專論) of the pulse and pathological mechanism but has not been studied and published yet. This study is about article 1-13 which is the first part of The PingMaiFa chapter. We compared the original texts within the editions, comparing and analyzing the annotations of successive dynastic medical group. The articles of The SongBon ShangHanLun PingMaiFa chapter 1-13 is consisted as is shown: article 1 states about the general features of normal pulse (平脈) and its physiological mechanism and the morbid pulses (病脈) caused by wind, cold, retained fluid, pain and heat vexation, article 1,10 state about the normal pulses of Five viscera (lung, heart, spleen, liver and kidney) and their manipulations in pulse taking, article 2 states about the differentiations of deficiency and excess syndrome according to pulse conditions, article 3, 4 state about the estimation of good prognoses and a factitious disorder by the combination of pulses and symptoms, article 6 states about Latent qi (伏氣) and its diagnostic features, article 5 states about inspection and listening examination as co-diagnostic methods of the pulse diagnosis, article 7, 8, 9 state that the emotions, such as fear and shame, and the dietary are important factors to consider for making diagnosis, article 11 states about the overwhelming pulse (相乘脈) which indicates the abnormal correlations between five phases and appears in four patterns as the dissolute(縱), the unrighteous(橫), the unfavorable(逆) and the favorable(順), article 12 states about 6 harmful pulses(殘賊脈), which are string-like pulse(弦脈), tight pulse(緊脈), floating pulse(浮脈), slippery pulse(滑脈), sunken pulse(沈脈), rough pulse(澁脈), article 13 states about "JaeGoe"(災怪) which is an unexpected response after treatment and it comes because of the formulas that had before. Throughout all these articles, The PingMaiFa chapter not only offers great value for Pulse-taking diagnosis, but also leads to a better understanding of clinical applications.

A Study on the Measurement of Knowledge Relatedness Density and Technological Complexity in South-east Region (동남권 지역의 지식 간 연관성 밀도와 기술 복합성 측정에 관한 연구)

  • The fourth Industrial Revolution is transforming the industrial structure of the region, and it is necessary to develop new industries and technologies that reflect regional characteristics. The purpose of this study is to measure the knowledge relatedness and technological complexity in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, and to identify technologies with potential for regional industrial differentiation strategies. Using patent data from 2015 to 2019, co-occurrence matrices were derived from 652 IPC codes, and the knowledge relatedness density and technology complexity index were calculated. Network analysis was performed using the knowledge relatedness density. As a result of analysis, it was found that mechanical engineering occupied a large proportion, followed by chemistry and electrical engineering. As a result of applying the risk-benefit framework to derive technologies with the potential to differentiate local industries, the technological capabilities of low-risk-high-benefit were different. Among mechanical engineering, technologies such as engine, machine operation, and transportation were included in Busan. In Ulsan, environmental technology in chemical and materials, and heat treatment technology in mechanical engineering were technologies with low-risk and high-benefit capabilities. Gyeongnam showed competence in mechanical engineering, chemistry, and electrical engineering in some areas such as Gimhae, Yangsan, and Changwon. The results of this study are meaningful in that they identified technologies with potential for selecting and deriving strategic industries for regional growth based on latent knowledge in the region.

Evaluation of thermal stress of poultry according to stocking densities using mumerical BES model (BES 수치모델을 이용한 사육 밀도별 가금류 고온 스트레스 평가)

  • Micro climatic conditions within the livestock facility are affected by various factors such as ventilation, cooling, heating, insulation and latent and sensible heat generation from animals. In this study, numerical BES method was used to simulate energy flow inside the poultry house. Based on the BES method and THI concept, degree of thermal stress of poultry was evaluated according to the locations in South Korea. Comparison of THI values within the poultry house was also carried out according to the stocking densities to reflect recent animal-welfare issue. Significant decrease in thermal stress of poultry was observed when the stocking density of $30kg/m^2$ was applied in the change of the seasons(p<0.05) however, there was no statistically significant difference in summer season(p>0.05). It meant that installation of proper cooling system is urgently needed. For Iksan city of Jeollabuk-do province, total 252 hours of profit for thermal stress was found according to decrease in the stocking density.

Evaluation of Durability Performance in Concrete Incorporating Low Fineness of GGBFS (3000 Grade) (저분말도 고로슬래그 미분말(3000급)을 혼입한 콘크리트의 내구성능평가)

  • When GGBFS(Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) with high blaine is incorporated in concrete, compressive strength in the initial period is improved, but several engineering problems arise such as heat of hydration and quality control. In this paper, compressive strength and durability performance of concrete with 3,000 Grade-low fineness slag are evaluated. Three conditions of concrete mixtures are considered considering workability, and the related durability tests are performed. Although the strength of concrete with 3,000 Grade slag is slightly lower than the OPC(Ordinary Portland Cement) concrete at the age of 28 days, but insignificant difference is observed in long-term compressive strength due to latent hydration activity. The durability performances in concrete with low fineness slag show that the resistances to carbonation and freezing/thawing action are slightly higher than those of concrete with high fineness slag, since reduced unit water content is considered in 3,000 Grade slag mixture. For the long-term age, the chloride diffusion coefficient of the 3000-grade slag mixture is reduced to 20% compared to the OPC mixture, and the excellent chloride resistance are evaluated. Compared with concrete with OPC and high fineness GGBFS, concrete with lower fineness GGBFS can keep reasonable workability and durability performance with reduced water content.

A study on the distribution of latent fingerprints on paper knife sheaths (간이 칼집에서의 잠재지문 분포에 관한 연구)

  • Knives are most frequently used as weapons in violent crimes. Criminals leave behind knife sheaths made of paper and tape at crime scenes. It is difficult to develop fingerprints using tape attached to a porous surface, resulting in the need to explore effective techniques for identifying fingerprints as well as the distribution of fingerprints on each surface, when evidence such as paper knife sheaths are found. In this study, 50 knife sheaths were prepared. The cyanoacrylate fuming (CA fuming) method was applied to develop fingerprints on the non-adhesive side of the tape, and a dual-purpose 1,2-indanedione/Zn (1,2-IND/Zn) reagent was used to separate tape from paper while simultaneously developing fingerprints on the paper. The fingerprints on the adhesive side of the tape were developed using Wet Powder Black®. Using the R statistical analysis program (The R Foundation for Statistical Computing), we used a heat map to indicate the location of fingerprints developed from each surface. More fingerprints were detected at the ends than in the center of the adhesive side of the tape, and although the non-adhesive sides of tape and paper did not present clear distribution patterns, many fingerprints were developed that had sufficient clarity for personal identification. The results of this study may be applicable for processing evidence when paper sheaths are found at crime scenes.

An Evaluation of Minimum Explosible Concentration and Explosion Severity of Coal Dust in a Thermal Power Plant (화력발전소용 석탄분진의 최소폭발농도와 폭발강도 평가)

  • The use of low-grade coal is continuously increasing with the development of combustion technology and cost reduction for coal used in thermal power plants . During combustion, the latent heat of evaporation due to moisture is large, and there is a risk of spontaneous combustion and dust explosion during the process of storing and pulverizing coal. This study compared and evaluated the minimum explosive concentration and explosive strength of four types of coal dust-fine, coal dust-coarse, wood pallet+organic dust, and wood chip with coal powder collected from domestic power plant D. The minimum explosive concentration of coal dust was measured according to JIS Z 8818:2002, and the explosion strength was tested according to ASTM E1226 using a Siwek 20 L Chamber Apparatus. As a result of the minimum explosive concentration test, it was found that coal dust-fine has a risk of dust explosion, and since an explosion occurs at a dust concentration of 130 g/m3 of wood chips, it was found that there is a risk of explosion at the lowest dust concentration. According to the dust explosion class standard, Kst is less than 200 bar m/s, and all samples fall under the explosion class St 1, and the dust has a low risk of explosion.

Estimation of evaporation from water surface in Yongdam Dam using the empirical evaporation equaion (경험적 증발량 공식을 적용한 용담댐 시험유역의 수면증발량 추정)

  • This study introduced a method of estimating water surface evaporation using the physical-based Penman combination equation (PCE) and the Penman wind function (PWF). A set of regression parameters in the PCE and PWF models were optimized by using the observed evaporation data for the period 2016-2017 in the Yongdam Dam watershed, and their effectiveness was explored. The estimated evaporation over the Deokyu Mountain flux tower demonstrated that the PWF method appears to have more improved results in terms of correlation, but both methods showed overestimation. Further, the PWF method was applied to the observed hydro-meteorological data on the surface of Yongdam Lake. The PWF method outperformed the PCE in the estimation of water surface evaporation in terms of goodness-of-fit measure and visual evaluation. Future studies will focus on a regionalization process which can be effective in estimating water surface evaporation for the ungauged area by linking hydrometeorological characteristics and regression parameters.

Effect of Arctic Oscillation and Sea Surface Temperature on Cold Surges over the Korean Peninsula (북극진동과 해수면온도가 한반도 한파에 미치는 영향)

  • The cold surge is an important extreme weather in East Asia during winter, and is largely affected by behavior of the Siberian high Arctic Oscillation, which represents undulation of large-scale pressure pattern in the Arctic region. Recent studies also revealed that the synoptic low pressure system developing in the eastern boundary of the Asian continent is sensitive to sea surface temperature (SST) and plays an important role in strengthening the cold advection over the Korean Peninsula during cold surges. In this study, we analyzed the Arctic Oscillation affecting the large-scale background of cold surge in East Asia, and the sea surface temperature in the coast of East Asia is examined focusing on its role on synoptic low-inducing cold advection. For the analysis, the days with the bottom 3% of the average daily temperature, measured at five surface stations in Korean Peninsula during 49 years (1969/70-2017/18), were used for the cold surge cases. During the negative phase of the Arctic Oscillation, a strong trough is observed over East Asia, and the inflow of cold air from the polar region is strengthened, which lead to frequent cold surges. In addition, anomalously high SST in the eastern coast of Asia increases sensible and latent heat release from the ocean, therefore, it enlarges the likelihood of synoptic low-inducing extreme cold surges.
