Nano-Second Periodically Poled Lithium Niobate Optical Parametric Oscillator with Planar Cavity Mirrors

  • We investigated a high-output ower, periodically poled lithium niobate(PPLN) optical parametric oscillator(OPO) pumped by a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. Given the low optical damage threshold and the limited aperture (0.5mm thick) of PPLN, we tried to maximize the signal output power in a linear cavity consisting of two flat mirrors with a loosely focused pump beam. It is found that this simple cavity structure allowed a robust OPO operation, which was not sensitive to alignment compared with the conventional ones using concave mirrors. A maximum energy of 100$\mu$J/pulse was achieved for the signal at 1.36${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, while the oscillation threshold was 0.3 mJ/pulse for the pump at 1064 nm.

  • In this paper, we suppose that the 1-dimensional photonic crystal using holography lithography. We used Ag doped amorphous AsGeSeS which belongs in the chalcogenide materials have sensitive photoluminescence property. The purpose of this experiment is the process to complete 3-D photonic crystal after making 2-D photonic crystal. The lattice formation was made an observation by irradiating He-Ne laser with the AsGeSeS film leaned obliquely. Then, by measuring formed diffraction beam, the diffraction lattice was calculated.

  • Metal AM(Additive Manufacturing) has been steadily developed and that is classified into two method. PBF(Powder Bed Fusion) deposited in the bed by the laser or electron beam as a heat source of the powder material and DED(Directed Energy Deposition) deposited by varied heat source of powder and solid filler material. In the developed countries has been applying high productivity process of solid filler metal based DED method to the aerospace and defense sectors. The price of the powder material is quite expensive compared to the solid filler metal. A study on DED method that is based on a solid filler metal is increasing significantly although was low accuracy and degree of freedom.

산부인과용 펄스형 $CO_2$레이저의 펄스모듈 특성과 동작파형 변화에 따른 안정된 시스템의 설계 및 구현 (Design and embodiment of stable system by change of action waveform by pulsemodule special quality of pulse style$CO_2$ laser for obstetrics and gynecology)

  • [ $CO_2$ ] 레이저는 최소한 조직손상으로 이러한 효과를 얻는데 최적이라고 보며 0.1mm의 최소한의 세포조직 깊이에서 일어나는 효과의 근본적인 장점은 생체조직이나 내장기관에 안정적이다. 열에 의한 조직손상은 조직의 종류나 에너지밀도, 증발시간의 장단에 관계될 수가 있다 증발시간을 짧게 하면 주위세포의 열적손상은 $200\sim400um$이내에 일어나므로 레이저 빔은 비초점 영역에서 주위세포조직을 손상함이 없이 증발에 의한 제거나, 아주 얇은 층의 포를 깨끗하게 증발시킬 수 가 있다. $CO_2$레이저는 산부인과 응용에 표준이 되는 레이저시스템으로 외음부 상피내종양, 자궁암, 상피 종양에도 적용이 가능하다. 슈퍼펄스 출력은 거의 동일하나 펄스지속시간이 짧으면 레이저의 열적인 효과가 감소가 되므로 무엇보다도 산부인과용 펄스형 $CO_2$ 레이저의 펄스모듈 특성은 모드안정화가 매우 중요함으로, 본 연구에서는 짧은 펄스지속시간과 고출력밀도 되도록, DC-DC Converter에서 고주파로 스위칭 할수록 출력 DC의 ripple은 고주파화 되는데, 고주파화된 전류 리플은 출력 필터용 콘덴서의 량을 크게 줄일 수 있다. 출력의 ripple을 근사적으로 Zero까지 실현이 가능한 인덕터를 적용하여 특성실험을 통하여 실현하였다.

  • ;The Kwinana Shoreline Fumigation Experiment(KSFE) took place in Fremantle, WA, Australia between 23 January and 8 February, 1995. All measurement systems performed to expectation. The CSIRO DAR(Division of Atmospheric Research) LIDAR measured plume sections from near the Kwinana Power Station(KPS) stacks to up to about 5 km downstream. It also measured boundary layer aerosols and the structure of the boundary layer on some occasions. Both stages A and C of KPS were used as tracers at different times. Radiosonde and double theodolite sounding systems measured temperature, humidity, air pressure and wind structure at the coast(Woodman Point) and at the inland(ALCOA residue dump) site at intervals of roughly two hours. These were supplemented by mid afternoon soundings(radiosonde and single theodolite) by Department of Environmental Protection(DEP) at Swanbourne. The Flinders aircraft measured wind, turbulence and temperature structure of the atmospheric boundary layer, concentrations of $C0_2,\;0_3,\;S0_2\;and\;NO_x$ in the smoke plumes and surface radiation over both land and sea. CSIRO DCET(Division of Coal and Energy Technology) vehicle successfully interceptde many smoke plumes and using a range of tracers will be able to identify the various sources much of the time. Routine data from the DEP and Kwinana Industrial Council(KIC) air quality monitoring networks were also automatically logged. Murdoch University measured surface heat flux at Hope Valldy monitoring station and also at Wattleup monitoring station for the last five days. The heart of the LIDAR system is a Neodymium-doped Yttrium-aluminumgarnet(Nd:Y AG) laser operating at a fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm, with harmonics fo 532 nm and 355 nm. A small fraction of the laser beam is scattered back to the LIDAR, collected by a telescope and detedted by a photomultiplier tube. The intensity of the signal as a function of time is a measure of the particle concentration as a function of distance along the line of the laser shot. The results of nine days special field observations are summarized in detail.etail.

  • Buffer layers play an important role in the development of high critical current density coated conductor. $LaMnO_3$, $SrTiO_3$ and $BaZrO_3$ buffer layers were compatible with MgO surfaces and also provide a good template for growing high current density REBCO(RE=Rare earth) films. Systematic studies on the influences of pulsed laser deposition parameters (deposition temperature, deposition pressure, processing gas, laser energy density, etc.) on microstructure and texture properties of $LaMnO_3$, $SrTiO_3$ and $BaZrO_3$ films as buffer layer deposited on ion-beam assisted deposition MgO (IBAD_MgO) template by pulse laser deposition method, were carried out. These results will be presented together with the discussion on the possible use of this material in HTS coated conductor as buffer.

표면 플라즈몬 효과를 이용한 박막형 태양전지 효율향상 (Thin film solar cell efficiency improvement using the surface plasmon effect)

  • In spite of many advantages, the practical application of the thin film solar cell is restricted due to its low efficiency compared with the bulk type solar cells. This study intends to adopt the surface plasmon effect using nano particles to solve the low efficiency problem in thin film solar cells. By inserting Ag nano-particles in the absorbing layer of a thin film solar cell, the poynting vector value of the absorbing layer is increased due to the strong energy field. Increasing the value may give thin film solar cells chance to absorb more energy from the incident beam so that the efficiency of the thin film solar cell can be improved. In this work, we have designed the optimal shape of Ag nano-particle in the absorbing laser of a basic type thin film solar cell using the finite element analysis commercial package COMSOL. Design parameters are set to the particle diameter and the distance between each Ag nano-particle and by changing those parameters using the full factorial design variable set-up, we can determine optimal design of Ag nano-particles for maximizing the poynting vector value in the absorbing layer.

Suppression of the Methyl Radical Loss from Acetone Cation within (CH3COCH3)n{CH3COCH3}+ Clusters

  • We have investigated the photophysics of the acetone radical cation in the vacuum ultraviolet energy region by multiphoton ionization combined with time-of-flight mass spectrometry in a cluster beam. We have found that the loss of methyl radical from the acetone radical cations is remarkably suppressed at 10.5 eV when they are solvated by a few neutral acetone molecules. The cluster ion mass spectra obtained by nanosecond and picosecond laser pulses reveal that there are intermolecular processes, occurring in several tens of picoseconds, which are responsible for the survival of the acetone cations in clusters. This remarkable solvation effect on the yield of the methyl radical loss from the acetone cation can be rationalized by the intracluster vibrational energy redistribution and the self-catalyzed enolization which compete with the methyl radical loss process.

초고속 무선 광통신을 위한 송신광학계의 설계 (Design of optical transmitter system for high-speed wireless optical communication)

  • 유선 통신의 포화지역이나 도심에서 벗어난 인구밀도가 낮은 지역 둥에서 고속 광통신을 위해 최근 무선 광통신이 새롭게 기대되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 무선 광통신을 위한 송신 광학계를 설계하였는데, 광원으로는 수평(7$^{\circ}$)및 수직(18$^{\circ}$) 발산각이 다른 비대칭 타원형 빔을 발산하는 레이저 다이오드(중심 파장 830 nm)를 사용하였다. 제안되는 송신 광학계는 장거리 전송(500 m∼1500 m)이 가능하고, 장거리 전송 후 수신단에서 빔 직경(3 m) 및 에너지 분포가 대칭형이 되도록 설계되었다. 이를 위해 비결상 광학계인 송신 광학계의 평가법으로 에너지 전달 효율과 복사 조도 분포를 계산하였다.

  • Modal testing requires measuring the vibration of many points, for which an accelerometer, a gab sensor and laser vibrometer are generally used. Conventional modal testing requires mounting of these sensors to all measurement points in order to acquire the signals. However, this can be disadvantageous because it requires considerable measurement time and effort when there are many measurement points. In this paper, we propose a method for modal testing using a camera image. A camera can measure the vibration of many points at the same time. However, this task requires that the measurement points be classified frame by frame. While it is possible to classify the measurement points one by one, this also requires much time. Therefore, we try to classify multiple points using pattern recognition. The feasibility of the proposed method is verified by a beam experiment. The experimental results demonstrate that we can obtain good results.
