  • This research developed a measurement technique that can measure the oxygen temperature inside a high temperature furnace. Instead of measuring only changes in frequency components within a small range used in the existing variable laser absorption spectroscopy, laser spectroscopy technology was used to spread out wavelength of the light source passing through the gas Based on a total of 20,000 image data, research was conducted to predict the temperature of a high-temperature furnace using CNN with black and white images in the form of spectral bands by temperature of 25 to 800 degrees. The optimal model was found through Hyper parameter optimization, R2 score is 0.89, and the accuracy of the test data is 88.73%. Based on this research, it is expected that concentration measurement and air-fuel ratio control technology can be applied.

  • Stereo-lithography using the two photon absorption(TPA) makes micro structures with great resolution. The technique is applied to correcting photomask, 3-D photonic crystal, 3-D optical storage, 3-D lithography and so on. In contrast to a conventional stereo-lithography with single-photon absorption which has a size problem caused by the geometrical diffraction limit, the stereo-lithography with TPA has no size limit. • We analyzed the absorption spectra of acetone in the 3.37 ㎛ mid-infrared range using the off-axis integrated cavity output spectroscopy technique to develop a real-time, in-line breath analysis device. The linear relationship between acetone concentration and absorption increase was confirmed as 0.32%/ppm, indicating that the developed device allows for a quantitative analysis of acetone concentration in exhaled breath. To further confirm the feasibility of using our device for breath analysis, we measured the acetone concentration of human breath samples at the sub-ppm level.

  • This study has been performed to investigate into some effects of power density and traverse speed of laser beam on optical microstructure, hardness and wear characteristics of gray cast iron treated by laser surface hardening technique. Optical micrograph has shown that large martensite and a small amount of retained austenite appear in outermost surface layer with fine martensite in inside hardened zone. Hardness measurements have revealed that the range of maximun hardness value is $Hv=650{\pm}15$ and as the power density increases and the traverse speed decreses, the depth of hardened zone increases due to as increase in input power density. Wear test has exhibited that wear rasistance of laser surface hardened specimen is superier compared to that of untreated specimen under the condition of same load at a given sliding distance, showing that absorption results of an wxidized substance due to a heavy abrasion appear in untreated specimen. The amount of weight loss of laser surface hardened specimen with respect to sliding distance at a given load decreses with increasing traverse speed at a given power density and with increasing power density at a given traverse speed.

  • Tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy(TDLAS) measurement techniques for several gases densities and temperatures have been applied in industrial combustion systems. Accurate measurement of temperature profile is very important, especially in power plants and heating furnaces. So profile fitting and temperature binning methods are new issue for accurate measurement of temperature in laser gas sensing. Temperature binning method is applied in this study for the measurement of temperature profile using tube furnace with three temperature zones. In this study the temperature profiles of tube furnace is accurately measured within 5% error, and this technique is proved to be very promising in the field of temperature profile measurement.

  • A new technique for control of size and shape of flame-made particles is Introduced. The characteristic sintering time can be controlled Independently of collision time by heating the particles with irradiation of laser because the sintering time strongly depends on temperature. A coflow oxy-hydrogen diffusion flame burner was used for $SiCl_4$ conversion to silica particle. Nanometer sized aggregates irradiated by a high power CW $CO_2$ laser beam were rapidly heated up to high temperatures and then were sintered to approach volume-equivalent spheres. The sphere collides much slower than the aggregate, which results in reduction of sizes of particles maintaining spherical shape. Light scattering of Ar ion laser and TEM observation using a local sampling device were used to confirm the above effects. When the $CO_2$ laser was irradiated at low position from the burner surface, particle generation due to gas absorption of laser beam occurred and thus scattering intensity increased with $CO_2$ laser power. At high irradiation position, scattering intensity decreased with $CO_2$ laser power and TEM image showed a clear mark of evaporation and recondensation of particles for high $CO_2$ laser power. When the laser was irradiated between the above two positions where small aggregates exist, average size of spherical particles obviously decreased to 58% of those without $CO_2$ laser irradiation with the spherical shape. Even for increased carrier gas flow rate by a factor of three, TEM photograph also revealed considerable reduction of particle size.

  • Silicon nitride film was deposited on a silicon wafer using a laser CVD(LCVD) technique, which is based on direct photolysis of $SiH_4/NH_3$ gas mixture by ArF laser beam(${\lambda}=193\;nm$). The refractive index of deposited SiN film is 1.9 at the temperature of $300^{\circ}C$, pressure of 5 torr. The breakdown field strength of LCVD SiN film was 10MV/cm. In IR spectrum, the absorption peak of Si-H, N-H, and Si-N is detected and it is shown that hydrogen is included in SiN film. From analysis of absorption band. it is calculated that density of Si-H, N-H bond is higher than $5{\times}10^{22}cm^{-3}$. LCVD MIS capacitor and PECVD MIS capacitor have injection-type hysteresis but it is known that hysteresis loss of LCVD MIS capacitor is smaller than that of PECVD MIS capacitor. It means that Interface state density of LCVD capacitor is smaller than that of PECVD capacitor. In addition, the flatband voltage($V_{FB}$) of LCVD is smaller than that of PECVD capacitor. And it means that fixed charged density($Q_{FIX}$) of LCVD capacitor is smaller than that of PECVD MIS capacitor.

  • A series of new NLO-active poly(4-nitrophenylallylamine) derivatives was synthesized by the nucleophilic substitution reaction of several substituted 4-nitrohalobenzenes and poly(allylamine hydrochloride). All polymers obtained were amorphous and their glass transition temperatures (Tg) were observed around 148-160 ℃. For each of these polymers, their specific Tg values were dependent on characteristic electronic structures. UV-visible absorption spectra showed maximum absorption intensity at 355-393 nm for π-π* transition of alkylaminonitrophenyl groups. The χ(2)value of poly(4-nitrophenylallylamine), as determined by the second harmonic generation at 1064 nm, for a thin polymer film poled at an elevated temperature, was 1.4x10-8esu. The third-order NLO properties of poly(4-nitrophenylallylamine) derivatives were evaluated through measurement of degenerate four-wave mixing technique and χ(3) coefficient in the range of 2.7~3.2x10-12 esu at 602 nm was found with 400 fs laser pulses.

  • A vacuum pressure-difference technique for making a nano-precision replica is investigated for various applications. Master patterns for replication were fabricated using a nano-replication printing (nRP) process. In the nRP process, any picture and pattern can be replicated from a bitmap figure file in the range of several micrometers with resolution of 200nm. A liquid-state monomer is solidified by two-photon absorption (TPA) induced by a femto-second laser according to a voxel matrix scanning. After polymerization, the remaining monomers were removed simply by using ethanol droplets. And then, a gold metal layer of about 30nm thickness was deposited on the fabricated master patterns prior to polydimethylsiloxane molding for preventing bonding between the master and the polydimethylsiloxane mold. A few gold particles attached on the polydimethylsiloxane stamp during detaching process were removed by a gold selecting etchant. After fabricating the polydimethylsiloxane mold, a nano-precision polydimethylsiloxane replica was reproduced. More precise replica was produced by the vacuum pressure-difference technique that is proposed in this paper. Through this study, direct patterning on a glass plate, replicating a polydimethylsiloxane mold, and reproducing polydimethylsiloxane replica are demonstrated with a vacuum pressure-difference technique for various micro/nano-applications.

  • The Separated Pulsed Laser Deposition (SPLD) technique uses two chambers that are separated by a conic metallic wall with a central orifice. The pressures of ablation chamber and deposition chamber were controlled by the differential vacuum system. We deposited zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films by SPLD method to obtain high quality thin films. When the bias voltage of +500 V was applied between a substrate and an orifice, the ZnO thin film was deposited efficiently. The deposited ZnO thin film at ablation chamber gas pressure of Ar 5 mTorr showed the sharpest ultraviolet absorption edge indicatory the band gap of about 3.1 eV. ZnO thin films were deposited using effect of electric and magnetic fields in the SPLD method. E${\times}$B drift happened by an electric fields and a magnetic fields, activated plasma plume, as a result the film surface became very smooth. When the bias voltage of +500 V and magnet of 0,1 T were applied the ZnO thin films surface state showed high quality. Grain size was 41.99 nm and RMS was 0.84 nm.
