  • There were many studies on the effects of red tide dinoflagellates on shellfish populations (Nielsen and Stromgren, 1991; Lesser and Shumway, 1993; Luckenbach et al., 1993; Matsuyama et al., 1997; Li et al., 2001). However, these studies mainly focused on the toxic effects of dinoflagellates oui adults or juveniles. Interactions between dinoflagellates and bivalve larvae have not been understood comprehensively yet. (omitted)

  • After more than 5 years of turbot culture in China, low percent survival and high occurrences of abnormally pigmented juveniles are still major problems for fish farmer. Much research has been directed toward determining the optimal feeding strategies and nutritional requirements for marine flatfish larvae, and considerable advances have been made.   • On the 15 days after hatching, the larvae was 4.24-5.10 mm (mean $4.66{\pm}2.18mm$) in total length, and the fins of the membrane started to develop into a fan shape and the melanophore was deposited upper the alimentary canal of the abdomen and on the bladder. At 35 days after hatching, the post-larvae formed a branch-shaped melanophore on the head part with a total length of 6.98-12.5 (mean $9.35{\pm}1.71$) mm, formed on the upper and lower parts of the caudal part, formed on the upper and lower parts of the caudal part, and deposited under the head part and abdomen. At 40 days after hatching, the juvenile was 11.3-18.1 (mean $14.9{\pm}1.53$) mm in total length.

  • 본 연구는 능성어 자치어의 골격발달을 관찰하여 분류학적 연구의 기초자료로 이용하고자 실시하였다. 자치어는 전남 여수시 거문도에 위치한 해상가두리에서 사육하던 어미로부터 채란하여 사육한 것을 대상으로 관찰하였다. 자치어의 사육 수온범위는 $21.5{\sim}24.5^{\circ}C$ (평균 $23.0{\pm}1.5^{\circ}C$)였다. 부화 직후의 난황을 가진 자어는 골화가 전혀 이루어지지 않았고, 평균 전장 2.66 mm에 달하면 윗턱을 구성하는 전상악골과 주상악골이 골화되었고, 아래턱을 구성하는 치골이 골화하였으며, 두개골의 기저를 형성하는 부설골이 골화하였다. 새개부를 형성하는 전새개골과 주새개골의 골화가 시작되었다. 꼬리지느러미를 지지하는 미골은 추골과 골편으로 이루어진 미골복합체로 구성된다. 평균 전장 2.59 mm까지는 전혀 골화가 일어나지 않았고, 미부봉상골이 $45^{\circ}$로 휘어져 있다. 담기골의 골화는 평균 전장 6.12 mm에 첫 번째 혈관간극이 뒷지느러미 2개의 가시와 관절되어 가장 먼저 골화가 시작되고, 신경간극 또한 등 지느러미 2개의 가시와 관절되어 골화하기 시작하였으며, 혈관간극과 신경간극은 평균 전장 21.9 mm에 골화가 완료되는 개체가 출현하였다.

  • This study monitored the morphological development of embryo, larvae and juvenile yellowtail kingfish, Seriola lalandi, for their aquaculture. The fertilized eggs obtained by natural spawning were spherical shape and buoyant. Fertilized eggs were transparent and had one oil globule in the yolk, with an egg diameter of $1.35{\pm}0.04mm$ and an oil globule diameter of $0.32{\pm}0.02mm$. The fertilized eggs hatched 67-75 h after fertilization in water at $20{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$. The total length (TL) of the hatched larvae was $3.62{\pm}0.16mm$. During hatching, the larvae, with their mouth and anus not yet opened. The yolk was completely absorbed 3 days after hatching (DAH), while the TL of post-larvae was $4.72{\pm}0.07mm$. At 40 DAH, the juveniles had grown to $30.44{\pm}4.07mm$ in TL, body depth increased, the body color changed to a black, yellow, and light gray-blue color, and 3-4 vertical stripes appeared. At 45 DAH, the juveniles were $38.67{\pm}5.65mm$ in TL and $10.10{\pm}0.94mm$ in body depth. The fish were green with a light orange color, with 7 faint green-brown stripes on the sides of their body. At 87 DAH, the juveniles had grown to 236.11 mm in TL, 217.68 mm in fork length, and 136.5 g in weight. The fish resembled their adult form, with a light yellow-green body color, loss of the pattern on the sides of their body, and a yellow coloration at the tip of the caudal fin.

위천에 서식하는 밀어(Rhinogobius brunneus)의 초기생활사 (Early Life Cycle of Rhinogobius brunneus from Wicheon Korea)

  • In this study, the morphological development and early life cycle of larvae and juvenile Rhinogobius brunneus found in Wicheon, Nakdong River, Korea, were investigated. The fertilized eggs were 2.20×0.68 mm (long×short) in diameter. The eggs began hatching approximately 104 h after fertilization at water temperatures of 17.3-20.5℃ (mean 18.9±1.6℃). The newly hatched yolk-sac larvae were 3.71±0.06 mm in total length (TL), with an unopened anus. Three days after hatching, the preflexion larvae were 4.37±0.16 mm in TL with yolk absorption. Twenty days after hatching, the flexion larvae were 6.50±0.22 mm in TL and the tip of the notochord was bent upward. Twenty-seven days after hatching, the postflexion larvae were 11.8±0.63 mm in TL, and the tip of the urostyle was bent at 45°. Forty days after hatching, individuals measured 18.5±0.93 mm in TL and were considered as juveniles as the number of fins became constant for each part. All the postflexion larvae had detached fins. Additionally, the melanophore was observed to be distributed on the head, centrum of the body, and dorsal fin, and there was a difference in the morphology from the water stream.

줄가자미 Clidoderma asperrimum의 난발생 및 자치어 형태발달 (Morphological Development of Eggs, Larvae and Juveniles of the Clidoderma asperrimum (Cypriniformes: Pleuronectidae))

  • 줄가자미의 난발생 및 자치어 형태발달을 관찰하여 종자생산 및 분류학적 연구의 기초자료로 이용하고자 한다. 2017~2018년까지 동해안에서 어미를 채집하여 원형수조(Ø 6 ×1 m) 수온 12.8±1.9℃에서 사육하였다. 수정란의 크기는 1.42~1.59 mm (평균±SD, 1.51±0.04 mm, n=50)였고, 난의 형태는 구형의 무색 투명한 분리부성란이었다. 난발생 과정은 수정 60분 후 난황과 난막이 분리되었고, 62시간 후 배체가 형성되었다. 수정 144시간 후 전체의 50% 이상이 부화가 완료되었다. 부화 직후의 자어는 전장 4.22~4.64 mm (4.53±0.16 mm, n=10)로 입과 항문은 열리지 않았고, 부화 후 10일째 전기자어는 전장 5.88~6.62 mm (6.31±0.33 mm, n=10)로 난황 흡수가 완료되고, 입이 열리기 시작하였다. 부화 후 55일째 중기자어는 전장 10.4~13.3 mm (12.7±1.3 mm, n=10)로 척추말단 끝부분은 휘어졌다. 부화 후 120일째는 전장 35.3~40.5 mm (39.5±2.4 mm, n=10)였고, 각 지느러미 기조 수는 등지느러미 79~94개, 뒷지느러미 63~75개로 정수에 달하면서 치어기로 이행하였다.

Identification of Two Entomopathogenic Bacteria from a Nematode Pathogenic to the Oriental Beetle, Blitopertha orientalis

  • A pathogenic nematode, Butlerius sp., was isolated from Oriental beetle, Blitopertha orientalis. The infective juveniles exhibited dose-as well as time-dependent entomopathogenicity on the larvae of B. orientalis. Two bacterial species, Providencia vermicola (KACC 91278) and Flavobacterium sp. (KACC 91279), were isolated from the infective juveniles and identified. P. vermicola outnumbered Flavobacterium sp. in the nematode host, in which the colony density of P. vermicola was found to be 21 times higher than that of Flavobacterium sp. However, when the two bacterial species were cocultured in culture media without the nematode host, they showed similar growth rates. Both bacteria induced significant entomopathogenicity against Spodoptera exigua larvae infesting economically important vegetable crops, where P. vermicola was more potent than Flavobacterium sp.

  • 강도다리, Platichthys stellatus의 난발생과정과 자치어의 형태발달에 관하여 관찰하였다. 수정란은 무색투명한 분리부성란이며, 유구는 없고, 난경은 1.09~1.19 mm (평균 $1.13{\pm}0.03mm$, n=50)였다. 사육 수온 $8.2{\sim}11.2^{\circ}C$에서 수정 후 121시간 만에 부화를 시작하였다. 부화 직 후의 자어는 전장 2.58~2.89 mm (평균 $2.67{\pm}0.09mm$)로 입과 항문은 열려 있지 않으며, 척색은 직선형이고, 근절은 14+27=41개이다. 척색과 소화관 위에는 흑갈색소포와 황갈색소포가 산재해 있고, 막지느러미 가장자리와 눈 및 난황 위에는 색소포가 없다. 부화 후 5일째에는 전장 4.30~4.97 mm (평균 $4.74{\pm}0.21mm$)로 입과 항문이 열려 있으며, 부화 후 10일째 자어는 전장 4.67~5.75 mm (평균 $5.30{\pm}0.31mm$)로 난황이 완전히 흡수되어 후기자어기로 이행하며, 로티퍼의 섭식이 활발해진다. 부화 후 23일째에는 전장 6.69~8.82 mm (평균 $7.85{\pm}0.75mm$)로 오른쪽 눈이 왼쪽으로 이동하기 시작한다. 부화 후 52일째 개체는 전장 10.99~17.06 mm (평균 $13.50{\pm}1.67mm$)로 눈은 머리부분의 왼쪽으로 완전히 이동하여 있으며, D. 64~67: A. 43~46: P. 11: V. 6: C. 19개로 각 지느러미 줄기가 정수에 달하여 치어기로 이행하였다.

  • This study is to observe the developmental process of the larval skeleton according to the growth of the trident goby, Tridentiger obscurus belonging to the larvae and juveniles and use it as the basic data of the taxonomic study. 8 days after hatching, the parasphenoid was ossified with an average total length of 3.62 mm, and basioccipital began to ossify. Caudal vertebrae and neural spine ossified in vertebra. 17 days after hatching, the average total length of the long hairs was 4.32 mm, pterotic and epiotic were ossified, and interhyal and subopercle were ossified. 52 days after hatching, the average total length of the juvenile was 18.2 mm, and lateral ethmoid, hypohyal ossified, vertebrae were parapophysis, and epural bone was osseous to the bone.
