  • The creep rate is affected by the temperature and in fact. if the temperature above $T_M/2(T_M:melting\;point)$. The aim of the present investigation is to study the relationship of static creep and cyclic creep behavior of pure copper and the formulation of these phenomena with the special attention to the instantaneous strain. strain rate from time and number of cycles have the same inclination Steady state creep rate depend upon maximum stress and can be expressed as linear function according to Power law creep equations Creep rupture time has relation with creep rate. and it make a group represented as the same direct line regardless of max stress, stress ratio and the temperature. Initial strain effect on continuous creep deformation. and have guantitative relationship between elastic and Plastic strain. LMP have similar tendency than OSDP and MHP according to temperature

  • It was confirmed that the life predictive equation by LMP-ISM are effective only up to 10$^2$hours and can not be used for long times of 10$^3$~10$^{5}$ hours, but that by ISM can be used for long times creep life prediction with more reliability. The predictive creep life equation of ISM has better reliability than those by LMP and LMP-ISM, and its realizably is getting better for long time creep prediction(10$^3$~10$^{5}$ H).

  • Reduced Activation Ferritic/Martensitic Steels (RAFs) are leading candidntes for structural materials of a D-T fusion reactor. One of the RAFs, JLF-l (9Cr-2W-V, Ta) has been developed and has shown to have good resistance against high-fluency neutrino irradiation and good phase stability. Recently, in order to clarify the strengthening mechanisms at high temperatures, a new scheme to improve high temperature mechanical properties is desired. Therefore, the test technique development of high temperature creep behaviors for this material is very important. In this paper, the creep properties and creep life prediction, using the Larson-Miler parameter method for JLF-l to be used for fusion reactor materials or other high temperature components, are presented at the elevated temperatures of 50$0^{\circ}C$, 55$0^{\circ}C$, $600^{\circ}C$, $650^{\circ}C$ and 704$^{\circ}C$. It was confirmed, experimentally and quantitatively, that a creep life predictive equation, at such various high temperatures, is well derived mr the LMP method.

  • The grain boundary etching method as a method for assessing degradation of structural materials has received much attention because it is simple, inexpensive and easy to apply to real components. In this study, the effectiveness of the method is verified by successfully applying the technique to in-service components of aged fossil power plants such as main steam pipes, boiler headers an turbine rotors. A new degradation parameter, intersecting number ratio (N$_{1}$/N$_{0}$), is employed. The intersecting number ratio (N$_{1}$/N$_{0}$) is defined as the ratio of intersection number (N$_{1}$) obtained from 5-minute picric acid etched surface to the number (N$_{0}$) obtained from nital etched surface. Two kinds of test materials, 2.25Cr-1Mo steel and 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel, were artificially thermal-aged at 630.deg. C in different levels of degradation., (N$_{1}$/N$_{0}$) were measured. And, correlations between the measured values and LMP values calculated from aging temperature and aging time were sought. To check the validity of the correlations obtained in laboratory, similar data were measured from service components in four old Korean fossil power plants. These on-site measurement data were in good correlation with those obtained in the laboratory.oratory.

  • In this paper, the real-time prediction of high temperature creep strength and creep strength and creep life for nickel-based superalloy Udimet 720 (high-temperature and high-pressure gas turbine engine materials) was performed on round-bar type specimens under pure load at the temperatures of 538, 649 and 704$^{\circ}C$. The predictive equation of ISM creep has better reliability than that of LMP and LMP-ISM, and its reliability is getting better for long time creep prediction(10$^3$~10sup/5/h).

  • This paper focuses on reliability prediction of long-term creep strength for Modified 9Cr-1Mo steel (Gr. 91) which is considered as one of the structural materials of next generation reactor systems. A "Z-parameter" method was introduced to describe the magnitude of standard deviation of creep rupture data to the master curve which can be plotted by log stress vs. The larson-Miller parameter (LMP). Statistical analysis showed that the scattering of the Z-parameter for the Gr. 91 steel well followed normal distribution. Using this normal distribution of the Z-parameter, the various reliability curves for creep strength design, such as stress-time temperature parameter reliability curves (${\sigma}$-TTP-R curves), stress-rupture time-reliability curves (${\sigma}-t_{r}-R$ curves), and allowable stress-temperature- reliability curves ([${\sigma}$]-T-R curves) were reasonably drawn, and their results are discussed.

  • 본 연구에서는 이들보다 매우 간단한 IS법, 즉 초기 변형률법(ISM: initial strain method)에 의한 크리프 수명예측식을 고안하여, 현재 화력발전용 고압 로터강 에 사용되고 있는 1%Cr-Mo-V강과 발전소 효율향상을 위해 최근 국내최초로 개발된 12% Cr강에 대하여 도출하였고, 이 도출식이 앞에서 언급한 여러 파라메트에 의한 결과와 비교 평가하여 장시간 강도 및 수명예측식으로 사용될 수 있음을 입증하였다.

Creep damage and life assessment of thick cylindrical pressure vessels with variable thickness made of 304L austenitic stainless steel

  • Using first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT), a semi-analytical solution is employed to analyze creep damage and remaining life assessment of 304L austenitic stainless steel thick (304L ASS) cylindrical pressure vessels with variable thickness subjected to the temperature gradient and internal non-uniform pressure. Damages are obtained in thick cylinder using Robinson's linear life fraction damage rule, and time to rupture and remaining life assessment is determined by Larson-Miller Parameter (LMP). The thermo-elastic creep response of the material is described by Norton's law. The novelty of the present work is that it seeks to investigate creep damage and life assessment of the vessels with variable thickness made of 304L ASS using LMP based on first-order shear deformation theory. A numerical solution using finite element method (FEM) is also presented and good agreement is found. It is shown that temperature gradient and non-uniform pressure have significant influences on the creep damages and remaining life of the vessel.

  • In this report for the assessment of creep properties of high-temperature tube materials in power plants, the long-time($10^4$~105h) creep life prediction by ISM for 2.25Cr1Mo steel was studied. It was clarified experimentally and quantitatively that the newly developed long-time creep life prediction equation was very coincident with the actual experimental data with high confidence, and the model was $t_r=\alpha\varepsilon_0^{\beta}\sigma^{-1}$.

  • Small punch-creep(SP-Creep) test technique has been applied for evaluating the creep characteristics for high temperature materials. However, in order to evaluate the damage and predict the remaining life, it is necessary to establish a quantitative correlation between SP-Creep and uniaxial-creep test results. This paper presents analytical and experimental results of useful correlation between SP-Creep and uniaxial-creep properties for 9Cr1MoVNb steel at $600{\sim}650^{\circ}C$ in terms of stress(load) and activation energy during creep deformation. Especially, the activation energy obtained from SP-Creep test is linearly related to that from uniaxial-creep test at $650^{\circ}C$ as follows: $Q_{sp-p}{\fallingdotseq}1.37\;Q_{TEN},\;Q_{sp-{\sigma}}{\fallingdotseq}1.53\;Q_{TEN}$.
