The demands for large-scale construction projects such as Mega-projects are largely increasing due to the rapid growth of increasing populations as well as the need to replace existing buildings and infrastructure. Increasing costs of materials, supplies, and labors require the first cost estimates at the preliminary planning stage to be as accurate as possible. This paper presents the results obtained from the survey on evaluating nine critical success factors that influence the accurate first cost estimates for large-scale projects from practical experiences. It then examines the current cost structures of construction companies for large-scale projects, followed by the causes for cost and schedule overrun. Twenty completed surveys were collected and the Analytic Hierarchy Process was applied to analyze the data. The results indicate that technology issues, the contract type, and social and environmental impacts are the significant leading factors for accurate first cost estimates of large-scale construction projects.

The trend of Development Projects has been changing through a few recent years. Small-scale development projects in the past were usually for building residences or officetel in a big cities. making lots of profits. These projects made not only lots of profits but also unbalance between the urban centers and the suburbs. So government made some regulations to prevent the things from being worse anymore, planned to develop the country in balance and began to lead large-scale development project such as Inno city and Newtown. At first, in this study, the phases and the characteristics of development project's change will be looked around. And then, after overview about PFV(project financing vehicle) used a lot in large-scale development projects will be seen, the better ways to use PFV in large-scale development projects are going to be proposed by considering the problems in PFV's conformation.

The information generated in large-scale and complex construction projects are transferred continuously and transformed into project products on the long span life cycle. Therefore, information flow management is related with the success of project directly. However, certain characteristics of large-scale and complex construction projects make the solving the problem more difficultly. Although several information retrieval systems support the information management system, it is not suitable to grasp information flows. Hence, we developed an information retrieval system specialized with the information flow based on a preceding research. The system consists of a relation-based database and the process information transferring relation inference application module. The system enables project managers to manage the entire project process more efficiently and each project member to work their own task being served the information flow retrieval results.

최근 건설공사는 초대형화로 단일 공사규모가 복잡해지고 천문학적인 공사비가 소요되는 프로그램 관리 형태의 성격을 지니는 사업이 등장하고 있다. 특히, 대규모 건설사업과 같이 프로그램 수준에서 관리가 절대적으로 필요한 사업은 계획된 일정 및 비용에 대한 전제적인 관리가 필요하다. 하지만 국내의 경우 구체적인 공사지연에 관한 관리기준이 부재한 현실이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 대규모, 장기간 진행되는 프로그램 수준의 대규모 건설사업을 성공적으로 수행하고 공정지연 및 부진사업을 사전에 방지하기 위한 지연관리지수(Delay Management Index, DMI)를 개발하였다. 이를 통해 대규모 복합건설 프로젝트를 대상으로 사례연구를 수행하였으며, 프로그램 수준 건설사업을 위한 지연예방체계를 구축하였다.

Assessment in Socio-economic items should be used to estimate social influence when policies and projects were introduced. To estimate current situation of socio-economic items 19 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) of large scale projects were analyzed. The projects were selected based on magnitude of social impact when the projects were implemented. Environmental Impact Statement was categorized into line projects(road construction, railroad construction, stream development, etc), and surface projects(energy development, wetland reclamation, recreation and sport development, and housing and residential development, etc) thus being chosen for 19 projects in each categories. This report was based on the analysis of 7 items in socio-economic environmental items(i.e., population, residents, industry, public facilities, education, transport and historical monument). Most EIS did not follow the regulation suggested by Ministry of Environment, and only current circumstances were briefly described. Indifference of in-depth analysis of socioeconomic environmental items would influence the process of social and environment impact negatively in the midst of construction of National Projects such as Outer Circle Seoul Highways, Saemankeum Reclamation Projects, etc. This abrupt halt of construction was mostly based on a lack of public hearing or public participation. Socio-economic items are also very much lacking in quantitative method and strengthening socio-economic environmental items is needed via checklist or matrix that brings decision-makers better ideas objectively.

Global efforts continue with the goal of transition to a "carbon neutral (net zero)" society with zero carbon emissions by 2050. For this purpose, the technology of water electrolysis is being developed, which can store electricity generated from renewable energies in large quantities and over a long period of time as hydrogen. Recently, various research and large-scale projects on 'green hydrogen', which has no carbon emissions, are being conducted. In this paper, a comparison of water electrolysis technologies was carried out and, based on data provided by the International Energy Agency (IEA), large-scale water electrolysis demonstration projects were analyzed by classifying them by technology, power supply, country and end user. It is expected that through the analysis of large-scale water electrolysis demonstration projects, research directions and road maps can be provided for the development/implementation of commercial projects in the future.

애자일 개발 방법론이 확산되면서 초기에 불가능하다고 여겨진 대규모 IT 프로젝트에도 애자일 개발 방법론을 도입하고자 하는 노력이 있으며 이에 대한 사례도 다수 소개되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 2개의 대표적인 엔터프라이즈 애자일 방법론을 비교하고, 엔터프라이즈 애자일 개발 방법론의 하나인 학습 기반 애자일 프레임워크(DAD, Disciplined Agile Delivery)를 적용한 사례를 소개한다. 유사한 개발 과제를 수행한 2개의 프로젝트 간의 비교를 통해 폭포수 방법론을 사용한 프로젝트와 학습기반 애자일 프레임워크를 사용한 프로젝트의 개발 생산성을 정량적으로 측정하여 비교하였다.

This paper introduces recent applications of three-dimensional building/construction data modeling (3D) and building information modeling (BIM) to large-scale complex building construction projects in Japan. Recently, BIM has been utilized as a tool in construction process innovation through planning, design, engineering, procurement and construction to establish a front-loading-type design building system. Firstly, the background and introduction processes of 3D and BIM are described to clarify their purposes and scopes of applications. Secondly, 3D and BIM applications for typical large-scale complex building construction projects to improve planning and management efficiency in building construction are presented. Finally, future directions and further research issues with 3D and BIM applications are proposed.

System Integration Projects, especially in public sector, have a tendency of growing in size and duration. Under such environment the effects of IT personnel turnover becomes a serious problem. In addition a high rate of turnover hinders shill accumulation and competitiveness obtainment. In this research we explored the reasons of turnover by way of tracing IT personnel who have involved in large-scale SI projects and moved or quit before the completion of the projects. Based on previous research we identified three dimensions of variables that affected turnover : task-related dimension, human relations dimension, treatment-related dimension. We used these dimensions as a guideline for the interview and questioning exploration. Implications from the research for improving IT Personnel management are also elaborated.

Players of construction projects proceed with each work process by information gathering, modification and communication. Due to the complex and long-span lifecycle projects increased, it became more important to grasp this mechanism for the successful project performance in construction project. Hence, most project information management systems or knowledge management systems equip information retrieval system. There are two logic to infer the meaning of retrieval target; inductive reasoning and deductive reasoning. The former is based on metadata explaining the target and the later is based on relation between data. To infer the information flow, it is necessary to define the correlation between players and work processes. However, most established information retrieval systems are based on index search system and it is not focused on correlation between data but data itself. Thus, this research aims to research on process of information flow retrieval system for large-scale construction projects.
