  • We proposed the regularized iterative restoration method considering relaxation parameter and regularization paramenter in order to restore the noisy motion-blurred images. We used (i-H) as a regularization operator and these two kinds of constraints were applied while conventional regularization iterative restoration method proposed by Jan Biemond et al used the 2-D Laplacian filter and a predetermined regularization parameter value and relaxation parameter to 1. Through the experimental results, we showed better results compared with those by a conventional method and or regularized iterative restoration method just considering only a regularization parameter. These two kinds of constratints have good effects when applied into the regularized iterative restoration method for noisy motion-blurred images.

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore the possibility of automatic extraction of line feature from Satellite image. The first part reviews the relationship between spatial filtering and cartographic interpretation. The second part describes the principal operations of high frequency filters and their properties, the third part presents the result of filtering application to the SPOT Panchromatic image of the Chinju city. Some experimental results are given here indicating the high feasibility of the filtering technique. The results of the paper is summarized as follows: Firstly the good all-purposes filter dose not exist. Certain laplacian filter and Frei-chen filter were very sensitive to the noise and could not detect line features in our case. Secondly, summary filters and some other filters do an excellent job of identifying edges around urban objects. With the filtered image added to the original image, the interpretation is more easy. Thirdly, Compass gradient masks may be used to perform two-dimensional, discrete differentiation directional edge enhancement, however, in our case, the line featuring was not satisfactory. In general, the wide masks detect the broad edges and narrow masks are used to detect the sharper discontinuities. But, in our case, the difference between the $3{\times}3$ and $7{\times}7$ kernel filters are not remarkable. It may be due to the good spatial resolution of Spot scene. The filtering effect depends on local circumstance. Band or kernel size selection must be also considered. For the skillful geographical interpretation, we need to take account the more subtle qualitative information.

  • Ultrasound imaging uses sound waves of frequencies to cause physical actions such as reflection, absorption, refraction, and transmission at the edge between different tissues. Improvement is needed because there is a lot of noise due to the characteristics of the data generated from the ultrasound equipment, and it is difficult to grasp the shape of the tissue to be actually observed because the edge is vague. The edge enhancement method is used as a method to solve the case where the edge surface looks clumped due to a decrease in image quality. In this paper, as a method to strengthen the interface, the quality improvement was confirmed by strengthening the interface, which is the high-frequency part, in each image using an unsharpening mask and high boost. The mask filtering used for each image was evaluated by measuring PSNR and SNR. Abdominal, head, heart, liver, kidney, breast, and fetal images were obtained from Philips epiq5g and affiniti70g and Alpinion E-cube 15 ultrasound equipment. The program used to implement the algorithm was implemented with MATLAB R2022a of MathWorks. The unsharpening and high-boost mask array size was set to 3*3, and the laplacian filter, a spatial filter used to create outline-enhanced images, was applied equally to both masks. ImageJ program was used for quantitative evaluation of image quality. As a result of applying the mask filter to various ultrasound images, the subjective image quality showed that the overall contour lines of the image were clearly visible when unsharpening and high-boost mask were applied to the original image. When comparing the quantitative image quality, the image quality of the image to which the unsharpening mask and the high boost mask were applied was evaluated higher than that of the original image. In the portal vein, head, gallbladder, and kidney images, the SNR, PSNR, RMSE and MAE of the image to which the high-boost mask was applied were measured to be high. Conversely, for images of the heart, breast, and fetus, SNR, PSNR, RMSE and MAE values were measured as images with the unsharpening mask applied. It is thought that using the optimal mask according to the image will help to improve the image quality, and the contour information was provided to improve the image quality.

  • This paper presents multipurpose watermarking scheme in coutourlet transform domain for copyright protection, authentication and transform detection. Since contourlet transform can detect more multi direction edge and smooth contour than wavelet transform, the proposed scheme embeds multi watermarks in contourlet domain based on 4-level Laplacian pyramid and 2-level directional filter bank. In the first stage of the robust watermarking scheme for copyright protection, we generates the sequence of circle patterns according to watermark bits and projects these patterns into the average of magnitude coefficients of high frequency directional subbands. Then the watermark bit is embedded into variance distribution of the projected magnitude coefficients. In the second stage that is the semi-fragile watermarking scheme for authentication and transform detection, we embed the binary watermark image in the low frequency subband of higher level by using adaptive quantization modulation scheme. From the evaluation experiment using Checkmark 2.1, we verified that the proposed scheme is superior to the conventional scheme in a view of the robustness and the invisibility.

  • In this paper, two step processing method of contour extraction and complement which contain hexagonal shape for low contrast and noisy images is proposed. This method is based on the combination of Laplacian-Gaussian filter and an idea of filters which are dependent on the shape. At the first step, an algorithm which has six masks as its extractors to extract the hexagonal edges especially in the corners is used. Here, two tricorn filters are used to detect the tricorn joints of hexagons and other four masks are used to enhance the line segments of hexagonal edges. As a natural image, a corneal endothelial cell image which usually has regular hexagonal form is selected. The edge extraction of hexagonal shapes in corneal endothelial cell is important for clinical diagnosis. The proposed algorithm and other conventional methods are applied to noisy hexagonal images to evaluate each efficiency. As a result, this proposed algorithm shows a robustness against noises and better detection ability in the aspects of the output signal to noise ratio, the edge coincidence ratio and the extraction accuracy factor as compared with other conventional methods. At the second step, the lacking part of the thinned image by an energy minimum algorithm is complemented, and then the area and distribution of cells which give necessary information for medical diagnosis are computed.

  • In this paper, a new preprocessing method is proposed to speedup the watershed-based image segmentation In the proposed method, the gradient correction values of ramp edges are calculated from the positions and width of the ramp edges using Laplacian operator, and then, unlike the conventional method in which the monoscale or multi scale gradient image is directly used as a reference iImage, the reference image is obtained by adding the threshold value to each position of the ramp edges in the monoscale gradient image And the marker image is reconstructed on the reference image by erosion By preprocessing the image for the watershed transformation in such a manner, we can reduce the oversegmentations far more than those of applying the conventional morphological filter to the simple monoscale or multiscale gradient-based reference image Thus, we can reduce the total image segmentation time by reducing the time of postprocessing of region merging, which consumes most of the processing time In the watershed-based image segmentation, Experimental results indicate that the proposed method can speedup the total image segmentation about twice than those of the conventional methods, without the loss of ramp edges and principal edges around the dense-edge region.

  • Extraction of glomeruli region plays a very important role for diagnosing nephritis automatically. However, it is not easy to extract glomeruli region correctly because the difference between glomeruli region and other region is not obvious, simultaneously unevennesses that is brought in the sampling process and in the imaging process. In this study, a new method for extracting renal glomeruli region using genetic algorithm is proposed. The first, low and high resolution images are obtained by using Laplacian-Gaussian filter with ${\sigma}=2.1$ and ${\sigma}=1.8$, then, binary images by setting the threshold value to zero are obtained. And then border edge is detected from low resolution images, the border of glomeruli is expressed by a closed B-splines' curve line. The parameters that decide the closed curve line with this low resolution image prevent the noises and the border lines from breaking off in the middle by searching using genetic algorithm. Next, in order to obtain more precise border edges of glomeruli, the number of node points is increased and corrected in order from eight to sixteen and thirty two from high resolution images. Finally, the validity of this proposed method is shown to be effective by applying to the real images.
