  • With the development of artificial intelligence, a wave of the 4th industrial revolution is taking place around the world. With the technologies such as big data and Internet of Things-based artificial intelligence, we are heading to a hyper-connected society where everything converges into one. Accordingly as educational talents in the era of artificial intelligence, we are pursuing the cultivation of creative convergence-type talents and emotional creative talents. With human creativity and emotion at the center, we should be able to collaborate with artificial intelligence and create new things by converging knowledge in various fields. By developing a program that combines humanities-oriented Korean language with engineering-oriented artificial intelligence, this research attempted to help students experience solving problems creatively by combining humanistic knowledge with engineering thinking skills. The educational program consists of two kinds of contents(i.e., "Books with AI" and "A Play with AI") and 15 classes that provide students with opportunities to solve humanities problems with artificial intelligence.

  • The Journal of Industrial Management Society in Republic of Korea. In order to explore the effect of overseas language training on the development of foreign language accuracy, this study investigates the errors in English compositions produced by 27 Korean university students who received overseas language training for 15 weeks. For data collection, students were made to take two tests, a pretest and a posttest, a semester apart. The differences in composition elements and errors between the two tests were examined and statistical analyses were performed. Results showed that while the average length of the compositions and sentences increased, the number of sentences decreased in the posttest. Also, more errors were found in the posttest where the students tried to construct more complex sentence structures. The students' ability to generate sentences were found to have improved, while their competence in using grammatical elements accurately within sentences did not see great improvement. This implies that overseas language training was not effective for aiding the development of one's grammatical accuracy of a foreign language over a 15-week period for the students.

  • The purpose of this paper is to find out the nature of language variation by exploring the ways of the progress of the language variation that produces all English-lects, i.e., the World Englishes. The study of language variation in linguistics is a hybrid enterprise, so the study of World Englishes has led to the recognition of a highly diverse set of all English-lects, encompassing regional dialects, sociolects, ethnolects and (post-)colonial dialects of World Englishes. In this paper, we propose a hybrid language variation model with three interacting factors of social distancing, on/off-contact, and linguistic diversity to examine the characteristics of language variation. In the context of World Englishes, the social distance is typically low in terms of their local location (country/speech) for local purposes. The social distance also varies based on online/offline communication modes and other social factors like gender, age and ethnic groups, resulting in all English-lects. To clarify the nature of World Englishes, the core Englishes, BrE, AmE and CanE are discussed here.

  • Humans before modern society were concerned about "what kind of being the humans are." Human beings who have gone through this age of thinking incorporate their existence into capitalism. Marx (Karl Heinrich Marx; 1818~1883) asks 'what kind of job do you live in?' After that, we get into the modern society, in which human beings ask themselves questions about the hidden existence of the subject of desire. A hidden being is an existence concealed by language. We will diagnose this as language labor and develop a critical mind. We are both the subject of language and those of language labor. Jacques Lacan(Jacques Lacan;1901~1981)'s psychoanalysis pays attention to the subject who escapes from the labor of language. In the remaining place of language labor, there are invisible ethics. In this text, we'd like to reveal the hidden meaning of the subject who resists the labor of language.

  • The college students who have relatively weak academic background feel more difficult in learning programming language grammars and programming skills in introductory course. At the end of semester, most of students had the negative attitude to programming and only a few students could write the programs for the given problems because they spent most of time to learn grammars instead of learning problem solving skills and logics. In this study, we propose to use Scratch in introductory programming course to help students to understand grammars and problem solving skills. It's necessary to educate first-time programmers how to solve the problems before they learn grammars of the programming language in their first programming language course. This paper shows that Scratch allows students not only to learn problem solving skills in programming but also to motivate students themselves in the class.

  • The present research intends to examine how college students' self-determination affects their beliefs in and achievement in foreign language learning in the current pandemic times. The data under discussion was collected from a survey questionnaire conducted to a group of 107 students attending at a four-year university in Cheonan. With the software SPSS Version 21.0, a set of statistical methods were employed: (i) descriptive statistics along with (ii) correlation analysis and (iii) regression analysis. The current analysis identified a positive correlation between their self-determination and both beliefs Foreign Langage Learning and Learning Outcomes, which means that the former exerts a significant impact on the latter. The results are expected to help educators arrange strategic plans that can enhance collegians' self-determination for their better performance of foreign language learning.

  • Automatic Post Editing(APE) is the study that automatically correcting errors included in the machine translated sentences. The goal of APE task is to generate error correcting models that improve translation quality, regardless of the translation system. For training these models, source sentence, machine translation, and post edit, which is manually edited by human translator, are utilized. Especially in the recent APE research, multilingual pretrained language models are being adopted, prior to the training by APE data. This study deals with multilingual pretrained language models adopted to the latest APE researches, and the specific application method for each APE study. Furthermore, based on the current research trend, we propose future research directions utilizing translation model or mBART model.

  • The aim of this study is to design Spudsville, an immersive game environment in Minecraft that can effectively help learners acquire the English language. To create a successful learning experience using Minecraft, the researchers adopted the Agile Model and the Design Thinking approach. The researchers first conducted an analysis through an extensive literature review in order to assess the learners' needs. Afterwards, they designed and developed a Minecraft world based on the data collected during the analysis phase. The researchers learned that implementing constructivist and behaviorist approaches has benefits, even though applying a cognitivist-learning model to Spudsville could have provided the researchers with more insight on how learner processes information. Making these adjustments could improve Spudsville's effectiveness and could potentially help the ways in which gamified learning aids with language acquisition.
